  3. I fell asleep twice during this episode and didn't see the end of Mox/Lethal. I came here to read the reactions, and my understanding of turtling is when you're taking a shit and it's head is poking out but it won't fully come out so it goes back up in. I'm assuming Mox didn't do this to Jay Lethal but I went back and watched to be sure.

  5. I saw a Reddit headline that said "Reports say QT left because he wants to be a wrestling star" and the first comment was "oh honey." I LOL'd and LOL'd. I mean the first time I saw QT was in ROH like 10 years ago. He was chubby, had a bald spot, and wore a Greg Valentine knockoff robe, looking like your dad working your local weekend indy around 1995. He's gotten in better shape and gotten hairplugs since then, but there's nothing about him that screams "star." Dude's ceiling is training people and being a TV JTTS. Looks like getting cheap heat in Mexico got to his head if that report is true.

  6. TK as The Devil would be the worst possible thing that could happen. Listen Austin vs McMahon was one of the best stories of all time. McMahon is a God tier heel. But the end result of that run is he basically forever made WWE the default heel in all stories moving forward. The repercussions are still felt today. Turning the owner heel turns the company heel. In a time where there's a little uneasiness about the product & the future that's the worst reveal possible. If TK was as great of a performer as Vince maybe there'd be short term gain. But that man should never be an on air character ever.

  7. I can't fathom buying Clue, the boardgame, and opening it up to find a note saying there's no Col. Mustard, wrench or ballroom yet. Scrabble, but they'll send me the vowels later. But I'm old so I can't fathom people who sell incomplete games, nor the people who purchase them. Goitre, waiting for Domino's to deliver the pepperoni on my pizza separately sometime in the next few months.

  8. Alright, a very good episode here. I have to say that THIS version of Adam Copeland I can appreciate. First thing, kick in the balls! Yes! Rush getting a much needed victory and Jay White with a slightly surprising loss changes the complexion of the tournament a little bit and that's good. Moxley has now faced two of the easiest opponents of his league, while White's matches have been the toughest of the top guys and Lethal's have been toughest overall and the results reflect that. Eddie Kingston may have fucked up giving up those titles. Facing Danielson after losing the first match is a tough position to be in. Emi tried to get into a better position for the moonsault and it was nice for the commentary to sell it as her trying to roll away from it unsuccessfully. I don't know if I like Sting putting no one over during his entire AEW run, despite how entertaining he has been during it? I mean, if he beats everyone, so be it, but that should logically lead to a title match before it is all said and done, right? Yeah, he made Darby, but let's face it he is not going to survive trying to skateboard down Mount Everest, let's be real here! Dante looked good in his return, the injury shown from a different angle did NOT! Holy fuck! Next week's trios match should be good, too! MJF putting over Joe and going over the guys he himself has beaten was good. Joe stepped in immediately when the terrorists attacked MJF to protect his investment, but is obviously against ANY kind of tag matches that may mess up his much deserved main event match.

  10. This is exactly what The Devil would say. My casual fan people have been asking me all these questions this week and the "news cycle" as it exists has prevented me from finding much joy in engaging w/ the good ol' IWC, so I'll say this; Five consecutive singles matches from [everyone in the CC field] is balm. If there was ever a time I needed people to just shut the fuck up and pro-wrestle, it might be now. The man who inspired this thought is, of course, Rush.

  12. I'll give kudos to QT for being one of the last true heels with no redeeming "cool" quality - the old school in me loves that. I feel badly saying it, but overall, my feelings on him can best be summed up by a guy sitting behind me at Dynamite two years ago: "Oh my God, Cody is gone! Why are we still doing this?!"

  13. Is it bad that the first thing I thought when they showed it was “Hey! I can do that with my foot too!” Sorry … bad attempt at amputee humor. Regardless that absolutely looked brutal on the angle they showed and it gave me flashbacks of the Sid injury. The fact that Dante is back wrestling after what, 8-9 months, is simply amazing. And the match was fine too! Wouldn’t mind at all if we got Top Flight & Andretti going after either the ROH or AEW six-man titles.

  14. Ok, this may be a reach, but I saw the “turtling” as being very Orange Cassidy-esque. It would be funny if Mox started using OC-like techniques in his matches as a show of respect after their feud.

  15. I've watched 8 or 9 hours of AEW/ROH TV over the last few days as I caught up on last week and it's been pretty much the AEW that I want, let me tell you. I could have used one of those crazy collision multi-man tags that go forever and a squash match or two on ROH that no one else would have wanted but me.

  16. Apparently God's Hate had a show the day after Full Gear and Brody's patched wounds opened back up and he played bleeding all over and I just imagine him with a crimson mask yelling out the lyrics to "Finish The Job" while people are going ape shit in the pit and suddenly I feel like the world ain't too bad really...

  17. Such a fun show! The Mox v Lethal opener was totally on point. Lethal is such an underappreciated midcard hand. Nice Eddie Kingston promo. Allotting an increase in weekly promo time for the King is a really good play. The Bryan Danielson promo follow up was even better. Danielson was excellent on commentary. I hope he considers taking a regular chair at the desk after 'retirement'. I really liked the traditional style Sting/Ric Flair local promo. Tho, 'rehearsing' was obviously a terrible word choice, and really oughtta required a second take. Briscoe v Rush was so fucking great! AEW please stop Mark from doing the Elbow to the floor in any match but the most important. I want/need this beautiful toothless man healthy for years to come. Toni Storm promo was good. She's on track. MJF promo was excellent. A nice bounce back from that nonsense last week. He sold the Joe bout so well. I loved the line about '(Joe) believeing in the three letters and not just lining his pockets.' It played nicely off the bland 'Money not friends' Punk promo from Raw. Big Haircut v AR Fox was so much better than Wardy's regular 'In Action' fare. Giving just wee little goes a lot further in showcasing his strengths. Top Flight/Action v Hardys/Zay was fun stuff. I was absolutely feeling the hometown Minneapolis crowd. So happy for Dante. Now let's get those straps off the accLAME and onto an actual fun trio - how bout Top Flight/Action? I loved that they followed up the big win with a Top Flight Promo after the break. That's exactly the kind of programming/presentation they need more of. So stoked for Top Flight/Action v Penta/Vikingo/Kommander. I skimmed passed most of Emi v Julia. I love Emi, but Julia still feels so far away from being a pushed title holder capable of actual good matches. Also, send the House rules to WWE catering with the wannabe Titans. Mariah May promo was alright. I watched some fun May/Stardom highlight packages recently, and am stoked to see her in an AEW ring. Unfuckingbelievably awesome Christian promo. I said Goddamn, goddamn! Big, big laughs over here. Christian sure is earning his money these days. After this fanfuckingtastic segment and Copeland's excellent promo on Saturday, I am so stoked for MTL! Kinda wanna go. Road Trip? Jay White v Swerve to no surprise was just wonderful. Danielson clearly loves Strickland and Jay. This show was an easy: 'AEWrulesthefuckingworld'!

  19. The idea of Cole being the devil doesn't appeal to me. The whole storyline of MJF turning babyface was that he was a piece of shit his whole life as a reaction to how he was treated by others, and how he never had any friends. Then Cole became his friend and that made him change his ways a bit, accept the fans' love, and become a babyface. I think that's an awesome story and the guy who did all this turning on him throws all that out. The natural progression of Cole turning and it all being a ruse would be MJF reverting and would reset his character to a one dimension scummy heel. I really do like @Craig H's idea of Cole being framed and then MJF fighting both the real devil and fighting to regain Cole's friendship.

  20. You understand that the point of my post was to say how much I've been enjoying the product and that it's pretty much exactly what I want the company (and in fact just about any wrestling company) to be right now, right? I know I use a lot of commas sometimes.

  21. This goes especially knowing the story Jim Ross ALWAYS tells anytime Mabel comes up, which is what he would watch in his hotel room non stop. Lets just say his wrist strength has to be crazy alone. And Jim always caps it off with, "...but good ole Nelson wasn't bothering anybody."

  22. Fancy Danielson/Kingston to be the first draw. I'd say it's a test run for Swerve Strickland. Face or heel, he's a future AEW World Champion. Can see Swerve winning it at next year's Double or Nothing and going into All In vs. Will Ospreay as the headliner.

  24. Oof. Seven second delay button guy was not on his game tonight. I thought for sure Swerve/Switchblade was going to be the first draw of the tourney. Cool to see them go with Swerve there. He wrestled a really good babyface match. Wonder if it’s a bit of a test run?

  26. I like the House Rules thing. I just don't think anyone's put the right amount of thought into it yet. It seemed to come and go with HoB on Collision. The "No Witches" one from the Best Friends was the best. It creates an element of ultimate creativity and a lot of times people don't want to think outside of the box like that. For instance, this shouldn't have been "No Submissions to end the match" but that the Heartless was Banned. There has to be some sort of pro wrestling logic to build to it. Rules create narrative opportunities. I still have to get through the main but I liked Dynamite overall. Obviously a "Mox's leg gets worked over" match is going to go pretty well for me and Rush, with an obviously hurt leg, just powering through and throwing hands and Briscoe meeting him and creating all sorts of insane motion on barely plausible but entirely awesome throws was far better than the sum of its parts. It's so nice to see Dante back. He was moving with such grace and confidence. And yeah, for the most part the Emi/Julia match worked. Emi doing her thing during the commercial break is always a joy. I just have to actually get through the main now. It's been a busy day. EDIT: Doubled back. Swerve vs White wasn't really for me. Some really fluid and impressive sequences but way too much of it was just move>counter>move>counter. There were some bits that showed you who these guys were early and obviously the blocked low blow was exactly that, but it needed more of leaning into who they were instead of what their movesets happened to be, because there's a lot of interesting stuff there. Just ended up like noise to me. Impressive, well-executed noise, but I wanted music.

  28. Enjoyed all the Continental matches, probably Briscoe/Rush the most. Love to see Rush get a win but sad to see Mark go down 0-2. Great MJF promo and Copeland/Christian segment. Good to see Dante back, loved having him come face to face with Pentagon after the injury and setting up that trios match. Always enjoy Emi matches and Julia been killing it lately, fun stuff. Liked the Sting/Flair promo a lot. Bringing up Sting's 24-0 streak, always wanted him and Darby to at least get a title shot if not a short run. Gary Michael Cappetta came in back in the early days during the Jericho/Moxley 2020 feud, so should definitely be used again

  29. That's really, really scary but i'm so thankful not only that she's okay, but that she'll be back soon! She has been one of my absolute favorites since she came over as NWA champion, and the show's really been missing her presence IMO. Nothing against the other women, of course, but Serena's always been on a different level than anyone. She just has that no bullshit, Bret/Malenko/Danielson thing going on. I've said before, but she's gotta be like at least the #3 or 4 best wrestler of either gender they have under contract. Legit thrilled by this news.

  30. You know what? MJF was really nice last night in his speech bringing up TNA. He could have gone the easy route and said he knew Joe from ROH, but he didn't. That was solid of him.

  31. I sure, sure hope so. Irrespective of the QT relationship, you'd have to be an insane person not to look at that guy and go "That is a professional wrestler."

  32. I was super skeptical as well but last night won me over. It's a borrowed concept but it creates a White-Swerve match that otherwise makes little sense. And it's a pure match, no interference. The 3 titles - again borrowed. But it adds a stake. I was initially why another title - but it creates a layer of intrigue.

  33. Swerve doesn't work as The Devil to me because doing something covertly like that just seems out of character for him. He has no problem breaking into peoples' houses and attacking them or ominously threatening their kids, so if he wanted a piece of MJF he'd get directly in his face to do it.

  34. Noticed a subtle hint that The Devil could be none other than TK, with Calibur mentioning whoever the Devil is, had taken control of the lights and other equipment. Maybe to throw the scent off Bay Bay, and not saying it would be the best idea, but nerd billionaire you sets to shape wrestling in his image, surrounding himself with his "pillars" isnt the worst idea. Also, as of note, the Devil has not been involved in any attacks as far as I remember. TK is probably itching to bring back his character from those Impact wrestling segments from a couple years ago. He looked like he was having a lot of fun.

  35. If there were any circumstance that ends up having Keith Lee and Swerve as a tag team beating the shit out of everyone, I'd love it. Just putting that out there, Coach.

  36. I still think the best move is to have Swerve be the devil. Make MJF think it's Cole. Hell, even do a segment where MJF says he knows it's Cole and that destroys their friendship. Maybe MJF even attacks Cole. Then do a segment where the devil finally appears on screen and says Cole is right, it's not him. Lights go out with MJF in the ring. Lights come back on. The devil hits a JML Driver on MJF, unmasks himself, and it's Swerve. And honestly, who cares if that looks like some heel shit to tear apart a dude's friendship and tear down the guy's world around him to break him down and isolate him to get a shot at his title. Swerve just broke into Hangman's house and did some vile shit then went on to beat the Hangman for a second time and the crowd now loves him. Fuck it. If the crowd wants to boo Swerve then let them. If they want to keep cheering him, then let them. Just don't do the obvious shit where it's Britt or Cole or both of them together. Plus, then you have the built in story of MJF trying to win back Cole as a friend. Nothing is more over in wrestling than friendships in this current era. People would go nuts for when MJF and Cole eventually reunite.

  38. This is so cool to think about. Ric Arn Tully Jake Roberts. The mics might have melted down from the talent speaking into them. EDIT: Oh god I just remembered that Jake and Sting did the Coal Miner's Glove match. WCW man... WCW.

  39. Things I remember from this week's edition of AEW Dynamite: I tuned in 10 minutes late. So not sure if anything happened then. Moxley beats Lethal. They might go all the way to having Lethal go 0-5 Ric Flair's suits look like grandma's living room. Sting will work his final match in Greensboro. Rush beating Briscoe was a bit of a surprise. I wonder if they'll give Briscoe a win over someone other than Lethal. MJF was almost attacked by ninjas until Samoa Joe made a save. Then the Black Scorpion issued a challenge via CeeFax for next week. Tony Atlas wishes he had Luther's job but I could think of a few reasons why that would have not gone well. Wardlow got another squash Somehow The Hardyz and their protege/pinfall-taker vs Dante Martin and Dante Martin's partner and Action Andretti led off an hour Julia Hart forgot the house rules, which I didn't even know, and then she won anyways while Emi's legs wiggled. Christian was kicked in the balls in response to his efforts to get out of wrestling Edge. TWFKA Edge then said fuck on TBS. Ideas for Christian to get out of his match next week: (1) refuse to job in his home country, and (2) insist that Edge not be allowed to appear on TBS until he apologizes for swearing on the Superstation. Swerve beat Jay White, just to set up the echelons for the Dynamite Group. After tonight, I guess Kissinger wasn't gonna be MJF's devil.

  43. Nailed it. Listen, I'm not a "YOU MUST LOVE EVERYTHING AEW DOES OR YOU'RE NOT A REAL WRESTLING FAN!" guy. I'm also not against anyone liking what WWE is doing right now. I, personally, myself, only speaking for me, just prefer the style of wrestling AEW puts out and I prefer the way they present it. That's it. But, goddamn, I could do without all the "sky is falling" posts. Every. Single. Goddamn thing that happens has the same couple people yelling about Khan losing control or the company closing down or whatever. That part is exhausting to me. Somehow, it's gone from Punk being in AEW would lead to their downfall! Then it was Punk leaving was the end! Now it's Punk being in WWE is the end! Somehow, having Danielson as a sort of talent liaison or whatever is the end! It's all the end! Ok, fine, we get it.

  44. As I was watching Swerve and Jay White doing their things against each other, headlining Dynamite as part of a mini-G1, I thought “damn, DEAN~! would really be loving this shit” Good stuff throughout. I had successfully avoided the Dante injury until now, and wish I still had. I thought he looked good while still not ready to go full on Dante. Emi saved Julia’s pretty face tonight. Up until that point it was a really solid match. Rush-Briscoe was even stiffer than I expected, and they did a great job adjusting to Rush’s leg. Sting-Flair-Tony was goofy shit that I loved. Christian-Copeland was excellent stuff that really made me care about the feud. And MJF’s promo more than made up for last week’s dud, and put Joe and AEW over big time. Like others, I’m worried the Devil angle is going to disappoint, and I’m ready for it to end soon. I also think the original intention of the original Cole-MJF angle was for Cole to turn on him, but now I’m not sure they can do that.

  48. It really isn't that much of a story The Jets kinda have to open the window now otherwise it really is pointless to bring him back (I mean it IS pointless but you know what I mean). They aren't waiting another two weeks, then open it and he basically returns for the meaningless Week 18 game against the Pats. He isn't a FA at season's end who needs to prove he is healthy. Just because the window opens doesn't mean a) he will be ready and b) they will activate him
