  1. Nope - we are not lying DVDVR #171 We (Okay - I) tried something new and that link above has lots of embedded Youtube links. So it will take a minute to load. I think it should work. It isn't perfect but I had others look at it and all the non-pulled videos appeared to show. I will still fiddle with cleaning up the HTML but that is my OCD and no reason to deny you reading this. Also - to make life easier, we present A BASICALLY TEXT ONLY FILE THAT WON'T DESTROY YOUR COMPUTER There is no cover for this issue... at least not yet but baby steps people.

  9. Seriously, why the fuck do any of you even care? DVDVR is not the People Magazine of message boards. We are here to discuss good wrestling, good movies, good MMA, good comics, good books, good music. Yeah some gossip bullshit comes into it but damn. I know Waiter is never going to stop but please, that might be part of the fun of it but there are better things in life son. Like watching matches in the WOTD threads, for example

  10. Daniel Bryan kind of fulfilled all the things Punk told us would happen and that he was supposed to stand for. And he's not an asshole and has long hair and a beard. Punk was John the Baptist to Bryan's Jesus. We all know what happened to John the Baptist, right? A crazy young woman led him to slaughter.

  18. This episode was full of badassery... Oberyn Martell does not give a fuck, and he flaunts it in the most not giving a fuck way possible. I loved the small council scene where he didn't stand when Tywin entered. He didn't even think about standing, it never even occured to him that standing up was a possibility. His choice of posture was also amazing. The Red Viper of Dorne has lived up to each and every one of my expectations. Do you Unsullied folks appreciate the low key awesomeness of Ser Davos Seaworth? Stannis is not the most likeable guy, in the books he has a dark/dry sense of humor, but Davos is a fucking boss. He is compeltely devoted to Stannis' cause and Liam Cunningham kills every scene he is in. Stannis is sitting there not suffering fools, and Davos comes through in the clutch. The only thing I didn't really like is that Stannis doesn't seem to have much of a voice on the show, he seems to just follow Melissandre and Davos. Stannis in the books is basically the most hard headed, stubborn, inflexible person who will listen to Melissandre and Davos, but does it reluctantly. The thing I think they miss the most with him is his motivation, he doesn't want to be king because he wants to rule, he wants to be king because he is the rightful king. He is much more insulted that people deny his right as king than he would be happy to be king. He suffers no fools or usurpers. Tyrion should win every award for this episode. That final speech when he just said, fuck this shit I'm not putting up with this shit any more, may be my favorite TV performance ever. He hit a fucking walk off grand slam in game 7 of the World Series with that one.

  21. I forgot to mention it before, but during (I think it was) last week's RoH show, I actually turned it on as Roderick was yelling for "Cedric". As I watched IPW Hardcore every week back in 2002 or whenever, I was shocked and just said aloud, "No way! Sedrick Strong in RoH?" It turned out to be Cedric Alexander, but they had me going for a moment. I don't know how many people know who Sedrick Strong is...

  23. Yep turned heel on March 9 at Lockdown helping Magnus beat Joe, turned face again on Impact 4/24 when Magnus blamed Abyss for his losing the title to EY and "fired" him. MVP then said Abyss could have a roster spot if he beat Magnus, which he did by DQ. Oh it's even better than that, so he could be used as the plot device for their flimsy storytelling, Abyss was declared to be no longer on the TNA roster despite still being listed on their website as on the roster as TV Champion no less. And while he was no longer on the TNA roster he received two opportunities at the World Title, a four-way and an entry into the number one contender's battle royal. And he got a new mask that looks even more like Kane's. I've watched like 2-3 months of TNA programming the past couple of weeks up to about half-way through Sacrifice so I'm just going to put all this here. This company has never been worse. They're just so directionless and creatively bankrupt. And they're back to gunning through everything so it just comes off as going through the motions. Like whistling past the graveyard if you will. Eric Young brought back the monster and his stated goal was to get rid of the monster. He got into a four-way World Title match with the goal of stopping the monster. He lost. Like twice really. Abyss had him clearly beat before Magnus stopped Abyss from pinning Young so he could drop the elbow on him for the win. The next week Young wins a gauntlet battle royal and demands the title match he felt he deserved for over a decade despite just getting one the prior week. He wins the title to end the show and the next week they're referring to EY as the guy that proved all the doubters wrong as if there was any time to develop any doubters in the short time he was number one contender. So instead of spending the month building up EY as a credible challenger for the main event of the PPV, they spend the month trying to justify making him WHC for a PPV match which is even less of a money match now because he's going in as defending champ instead of lovable underdog challenger who's got the chance to end the night getting the career defining storybook ending victory. Bully Ray spent most of last year hitting everyone with hammers and earlier this year was trying to set Ken Anderson on fire while threatening to do the same to his wife and newborn children. Then he helped the babyfaces win control of the company. Babyfaces that were losing fair and square by the way. Now he's goddamn Captain TNA and everybody's best friend and endorsing Eric Young and saying how great his ex is all the while threatening to put his boss, a non-wrestling mother of young children, through a table. Velvet Sky went from timid abused girlfriend to standing up for herself as someone who was once on top of her division to turning heel out of nowhere so she could essentially go back to being a sidekick. Madison Rayne returned and went after her former friend Gail Kim. They barely explained why their friendship broke down despite having footage of Kim rejecting Rayne at one of those ONO PPVs. Now in a couple of short months they've united again because The Beautiful People are back together. Gail Kim beat Lei'D Tapa and Tapa had to leave TNA. A stip Kim just made up in a promo before the match. Then the next week on Xplosion, Kim beat Tapa again so the commentators said Tapa really had to leave TNA now. Knux went on this personal journey back home. He had a duffle bag. His ex yelled at him. Some pinball machines were ruined because of a flood. He talked to his dad who said all these flooded pinball machines were the family business. His girl twirled fire in a bar. He decided to go back to TNA. She decided to go with him. She was unhappy about his plan to pick up Crazy Steve and The Freak. Now he leads the poor man's Hobo Army. It feels like they skipped some fairly important parts of his story. Like the part where it was necessary to go on this personal journey. Storm turned on Gunner. Storm broke a beer bottle over Gunner's dad's head. They never bothered to give a health update on Gunner's dad so I assume he's in a coma. These two guys have basically killed each other for months in front of audiences that don't care and Gunner has also seemingly beaten Storm at every turn. He's not on the upcoming PPV. Gunner also gave Storm the tag title shot briefcase which has probably been forgotten like Gunner's dad. MVP's back. Everybody, he's back. They played that track so many times in the UK, seemingly back to back. Now he's yet another heel GM, how fucking whack. Bringing in some black guys and foreign talent is good. Putting all the black guys together as heels and marrying the guys that can't speak English to each other isn't really helping with the criticisms of the 'cism. Brittany. Tigre Uno. I hope someone didn't hurt themselves coming up with these names. I love heel Dixie Carter. I think she's hilarious. For about a max of 5-7 minutes per show. 30-45 minutes a show not so much. Her and MVP seemingly took up like half of each of those UK Impacts with multiple in-ring and backstage segments. Remember during his first stint with TNA how Bobby Lashley won a tournament for a World Title shot and Bischoff fired him and he never got his shot? No? Just me, huh? Jeff Hardy's probably their biggest star and they're letting him run around cosplaying as himself from over 15 years ago. Not to be triangular but a segment with Hardy explaining Willow and why he's let it lose wouldn't have been a bad idea. Also, Jeff Hardy can't go overseas so they had to write him out before their European tour. Could've had Dixie suspend him (which she did later anyway). Instead they had him quit. Overlooked by everyone, there was this kid sitting at ringside with his face painted up by Hardy. He got to see his favorite quit, give up, declare that he lost his heart and didn't have any fight left in him. That kid died a few weeks later.

  27. An Interesting Subject is being discussed. A WILD ODESSASTEPS APPEARS Interesting Subject has run away! Anyway Punk should PM or DM me on twitter. I don't understand why he hasn't reached out. If anyone knows better than me how to suppress and destroy CM Punk fans, I'd be surprised. Plus I think we'd be great friends, he could teach me about bad tattoos, I could get him on the Kid Rock. I could introduce him to my IRL friends... ..j/k I have no IRL friends.

  31. FTL ADVANCED EDITION- I realized that FTL is like a board game. Specifically, a board game where you pilot a board game, and every space you land on starts a new board game in which you play a board game and fight other board games to get out of that board game to move on to the next board game while board games chase you. Sometimes you fight these board games, using the remains of these board games to upgrade your board game. Ultimately the end goal is to reach the last board game of the board game board game, where you pilot your board game around other board games while you attempt to reach the final board game which you fight in three stages. Every time you beat the final board game, it moves to another space in the board game so you have to back track through the board game to get to the final board game again to fight it again, and then you repeat this process one more time to beat the final board game, leader of the board games, in the board game board game with your board game. Board game. KENTUCKY ROUTE ZERO, ACT 3- I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH, but I can't recommend it until it's all out because right now it's a year between episodes. I mean, that's good, because I find it about that emotionally draining. Rural gothic surrealist adventure. So good. PIXELJUNK SHOOTER- oh yeah, cutting edge. It was $2.50 on the Humble Store, and I loved the shit out of it every chance I got to play it on PS3. Now I'm playing it for myself and it's the best. Two joysticks and two buttons, everything feels just right. There's even nuanced moves that you can learn just by fooling around with the controls in logical ways. I bet there's something else I haven't figured out yet. That's awesome! DARK SOULS 2- Rerolled, having a MUCH better time now. Just mid-heavy tank, with a halberd as a primary weapon and a club as a secondary. Doing a dexterity build (my original problem) seems super fucked this time around.

  32. Just watched Prisoners, and it would probably sneak in to my top 5. Definitely top 10. Intense violence, while mostly implied, great performances from everyone, and an epic, brooding evil that permeates every scene after the first 5 minutes.

  33. The increase to three hours has changed the way I watch Raw. I still turn it on at 9 like I always did cept now I start from an hour behind. My goal is to finish my watching by the time Raw actually ends. So there are a handful of guys (Santino, Swagger, Rybaxel, Big E etc.) that I fast forward through every single week due to time constraints.

  39. As someone who watched WCW until the bitter end, I thought they were actually going in the right direction talent wise, Russo just wasn't the right person to book it. The New Blood was full of potential, but they just couldn't stay out of their own way. I would have bet all the money I had that Shane Helms was going to be a future world champion, but WCW closed, WWE took away everything that made him a great worker, and turned him into a comedy worker. They should teach about WCW in business school. They took a company with an unlimited budget and some of the top talent in the world and some how some way ran it into the ground. One of the reasons I love wrestling is that I think the business part of it is really fascinating. Things like WCW tossing money around like candy, the whole pay structure, downside guarantees, etc is something I like reading about. I graduated from business school at UM and I wish I could've done a case study on WCW but they didn't finish circling the drain until after I was finished.
