porksweats Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Truly terrible news, I'm a much more recent poster on the boards than some of you but DEAN~! made me feel incredibly welcomed and it was a privilege to be able to enjoy in this crazy sport of Wrestling with him for as long as I could. 4
Zimbra Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Goddamit, what a man, what a loss. May his memory be a blessing. 6
John from Cincinnati Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I'm so sorry for his family, friends, and everyone whose life has been made more full from his words and enthusiasms. RIP Dean. 5
For Great Justice Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 This is heartbreaking. DEAN you are the best to ever do this and we’ll miss you. 5
Raziel Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 His writings on RSPWF got me into so many different areas of wrestling. Ride on and review forever. 4
just drew Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 RIP in peace to my motherfucking friend DEAN. He sent me a very nice message when I was struggling personally a couple years ago. He’s a good dude. 6
Cobra Commander Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 best of luck to Dean as he gets to see Mulligan to piledrive Harley Race onto the floor of the eternal Norfolk Scope 8
GojiColin Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I don't even know how to put into words what I wish I could say right now. But for now my deepest condolences to the Rasmussens, 4
Stefanie Sparkleface Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I was trying to remember today when I first met Dean. It was definitely 2000 at the latest because I was at the OMEGA reunion show, but I can't remember if I met him sooner than that. It's really not relevant. I just remember him always being full of enthusiasm for the things he loved and thinking "this guy is something else". My opinion of him never really changed. It was a joy to have had him in my life all these years, even as I drifted in and out as I did. He was a good man. I'm so sorry. 7
Cobra Commander Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 oh man, just remembered what the last (of 2) tweets was on the long since abandoned Dean twitter account. Spoiler apologies for remembering that 4 1
John E. Dynamite Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 (edited) I did my mourning preemptively, no sad stuff here. I'm going to deal with this by watching more wrestling and writing about it. Homeboy is parked in front of God's stash of house show footage right now with OSJ, catching up on those early Bockwinkel defenses I hope we all get to watch some day. Just let me know when we're fundraising for the Dean Rasmussen Memorial Cup and I'll money mark you a couple thou. RIP~! to the greatest man to ever write about the greatest thing. Super Ape Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Heartbroken to hear the sad news. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. 3
Brian Fowler Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 To the man who introduced me to Roxy Music, Wouldn't it Be Nice, and more goddamn great wrestling than I can possibly remember... I'll miss you Dean. 8
cobainwasmurdered Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 RIP Dean. Haven't posted in a long time but I remember Dean both here and from elsewhere as a great guy and his contributions to the "IWC" were tremendous and he'll be greatly missed. It's wonderful seeing how many lives he has touched. 2
Iron Moose Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I started at... RSPW, I think, and then went to CRZ, and DEAN's posts on the-w were vivid and passionate and alive and so, so saturated with identity and joie de vivre. And then I was drawn here. It's basically been 22 years adjacent to DEAN's energy and I will miss him and can't and won't forget him. 4
NikoBaltimore Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I wish I had more to say but right now my heart is extremely heavy and all I can think is "Fuck! Fuck! Goddammit!" and variations of the like. RIP, Dean. This fucking sucks. 8
Gonzo Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Man. . .what an absolute gut punch. Like many of you, I didn't know DEAN outside of this space. But the joy and energy he brought to talking about "the professional wrestling" was undeniable. Even during stretches where things seemed to get stale, DEAN had a way of making our favorite passion seem like the greatest thing in the world. He's a big part of why all of us are here and have the interactions that we do, and the impact he's had on the lives of everyone here. . .even those that never got the opportunity to shake his hand or buy him a beverage. . .is undeniable. Thanks, DEAN. . .for everything. 11
Popular Post Rev Ray Posted May 5, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 5, 2023 Man, this a punch in the stomach. I said a bunch of my piece yesterday, and as the day rolled on and the comments rolled in, I was really hoping that we were going to have this outpouring of good thoughts to share and we would all have a good laugh at some of the memories. It's kind of a nagging lesson out there where it usually takes something terrible or someone passing to remind you but, please remember that every now and then to remember to share the love, with a family member or even in the form the gratitude of someone who brings joy to your life. You don't want the regret of missing that chance. Its inspiring to me that something as silly as writing about pro-wrestling on the internet has brought people together, given careers, inspired them to do projects of thier own or brought them to discover a new love of something by the works of one person. I know sometimes you think you are shouting into the void but the last two days, I found out it wasn't so empty in there when the replies came back. I feel for Angie and Dean's kids. I know I miss Dean just for our conversations on the internet , I can only imagine to have a person such as him in your life everyday not be there any longer. I feel really privileged that Dean invited me to write with him on the DVDVR and stand in his shadow. He will be missed and he is still number one and the best. 21 4
Dog Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I've never been the most interactive person here, but Dean's posts, comix, and everything else were very high on the list of things that kept me hanging around since the early 2000s. If you knew him personally, I envy for, and empathize with your titanic lost today. 6
J.H. Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 (edited) As long as I've been on the internet, I've been reading Dean's thoughts on wrestling. I got to interview him once for my radio show. We spent so much time swearing that my co-host didn't even realize our feed had been cut 20 minutes in. I loved his genuine love of wrestling and how he would talk about it with anyone. I loved his laugh and sense of humor. I always wanted to meet him just to shake his hand and thank him for keeping me entertained all these years My heart aches for his family. My heart aches for his friends. My heart aches for all of us, because without DEAN none of us would have crossed paths. Rest In Peace Dean Rasmussen and Thank You from the bottom of my heart!
