Gordi the BJW fan Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) Wait! What? REALLY?!? The main event of the Christmas Rampage is a JEFF JARRETT tag match?!?!? Oh well. At least Rampage also has the THREE THOUSAND DOLLAR Three Kings Trios Christmas Casino Trios Christmas Battle Royale, which should be plenty weird and entertaining. Just the name and concept are weird and entertaining already. Plus a Jade squash of a lady with lots of good YouTube matches, in this case Vertvixen, and that's generally a reliable formula for fun. Plus we'll "hear from" Kingston & Ortiz and also from Wardlow. You know who likes Kingston & Ortiz and also Wardlow? Gordlow does! I bet you do, too. Anyone like Jeff Jarrett? anyone prefer watching him fight to, say, Wardlow or Ortiz ...or Bear Boulder or Serpentico or Nicky Boy or Leva Bates or Yuka Sakazaki or Red Velvet? If so, I genuinely hope you REALLY enjoy the main event. Edited December 23, 2022 by Gordlow i have... ONE MILLION reasons 1 5
porksweats Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) Listen Gordlow, I for one am excited to see J E double F J A double R E double T in the main event of Rampage taking on Billy Gunn. The one I don't want to see is Jay Lethal. That being said, the 300,000 Dollar Three Kings Christmas Casino Trios Battle Royal is going to be the true highlight for me. Battle Royals aren't always good but this one's got a helluva name and gimmick so why not? Edited December 23, 2022 by porksweats 4
stuntmanc Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I still don't understand why they named Angelico, Luther and Serpentico the Spanish Announce Party (S.A.P), it's a blatant and thinly veiled rip off of the S.A.T. and I think I even saw Luther(?) wearing and orange jumpsuit. That's pretty shitty.
John E. Dynamite Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) Serpentico (as Jon Cruz) is one of the only competent Spanish PBP guys they've ever had. Angelico has been making guest appearances in the booth for a few months now. So they're the actual Spanish announce team. Luther + Serpentico are Chaos Project. So, Spanish Announce Project. Also SAP on your teevee remote stands for Secondary Audio Programming and if you press it you hear your show in Spanish so it's a pun nobody gets. Jeff Jarrett gets actual heat. Lay it on me Edited December 23, 2022 by John E. Dynamite 9
stuntmanc Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Thank you for the explanation, i definitely appreciate and understand it now. I follow the S.A.T on Facebook and they're losing their minds over it, so I had a bias attached.
John from Cincinnati Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Aa a result of AEW dumping too much info to process, I thought this was Acclaimed vs Jarrett/Lethal for the tag belts. Jarrett and Billy together definitely ups the weird factor. I'm into it. 1
zendragon Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I can't believe @Gordlow didn't take the "but wait there's Myrrh" layup 5
Gordi the BJW fan Posted December 24, 2022 Author Posted December 24, 2022 (edited) That was a pretty long way from being one of my favourite episodes of AEW TV. I am legit bummed out that the ending means a Jarrett tag title shot and more of that anti-charismatic mark-for-himself on AEW TV. It wasn't all bad, though! JR seemed to be having some fun at points tonight, which was refreshing. And Jericho was pretty funny on commentary. SO MUCH really good wrestling coming up! There were some neato storytelling beats in the trios royale and I loved the final four and the ending and hope we get Top Flight & AR vs Gates & Cage. I popped for the explanation of the SAP's name. Eddie Kingston is THE BEST. I don't want dissension between him and Monkey but we'll see where this goes. Nice that Vertvixen got some time. Ruby and Willow doing a Rock & Sock thing could be fun! The entrance rap was amusing. Edited December 24, 2022 by Gordlow 2 2
DEAN Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 The rules of this battle royal are confusing so I will ignore them. Jericho is awesome! BAN IT! IT'S BARBARIAN! Ah Kip Sabian is in with the Butcher and the Blade! There are lots of little stories in this. Sabian and Cassidy beat each other up to the top of the ramp after being eliminated! A lot of stuff happens! I assume that AR Fox and Top Flight are going to be the most spectacular being eliminated. Tony Nese does the most spectacular elimination so far! GREAT PILEDRIVER by Trent on the Butcher on the apron! So the main thing established by this is that Rush versus Claudio will totally fucking rule. The finish was fun. That was a bunch of stuff. They should definitely have vignettes of the Top Flight w/AR Fox on a shopping spree. Eddie Kingston and Ortiz have their minds baffled by Malakai Black. Sammy and Danny! It's Jade Cargill! It's Vertvixen! Jade looks good in this. She got the memo from Athena and is totally laying it in. AWESOME! RUBY AND WILLOW! That should be good. Jeff Jarrett is a HEAT MACHINE! The Acclaimed are OVER! Jay Lethal is a great professional wrestler. Billy Gunn looks good in with Jarrett. Jarrett is fun as an evil tag team wrestler. Yeah, Lethal and Jarrett are a fun heel tag team. Lethal is fucking awesome. EVERYBODY CHEATS! LETHAL INJECTION! You had to figure Lethal and Jarrett would win to set up the actual title match. That was a perfectly fine placeholder episode. The best part of the episode was Jade Cargill beating the hell out of Vertvixen in picture in picture. AEW RULES THE MOTHERFUCKING WORLD. 6 1
For Great Justice Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I can’t hate on Double J when his punches and stooge bumps were right here while the Lethal Injection is right there 2
AxB Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I expected Claudio to win once we got to the final 3, since that's what WWE would have done. Babyface Tag Team, two thirds of the final three? Of course they're going to lose to the singles wrestler. Fite aired it without the ads so it finished 7 minutes early. I would have thought there were more advertising minutes than that in the show, but I suppose a lot of them are PinP. 2 1
S.K.o.S. Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 That House of Black video was like if SNL did some sort of AEW parody. I liked the closing minutes of the battle royale and Max Caster's entrance... and not much else! 4
DreamBroken Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 The Three Hundred Thousand Dollar Three Kings Christmas Casino Trios Royale delivered the goods as expected. Love the Rush/Claudio exchange, hope that's a future ROH title feud. Good win for Top Flight. Always love seeing more Vertvixen and Jade rules. Vert's had a hell of a year, starting with an Impact appearance, challenging for the ROH title in two companies, and now ending it with multiple AEW matches. Main event was fun. Billy vs Jarrett is greatness. 3

Sammo~! Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 But I mean really after taxes it's only like a $125,000 Battle Royale 9
MoeCristyV.1.6 Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Time to pull out that OSW review of KOTR 1994 with IRS butchering bis promo and going against any logic with the rope assist against Mabel, . And the 1-2-3 Kid looking like a boxer. Battle Royale ruled, didn't watch the main event. I really don't need Lethal and Double J in my AEW.
eikerir Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Everyone is lucky that Peligro Abejas weren’t in this Battle Royale like Excalibur said. 1

I mean, Top Flight just barely managed to beat one of those guys.
AxB Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Mox vs Darius on last Dynamite, Mox, Claudio, Darius and Dante as the final four in the battle royal, and now a tag match to resolve it. And whichever team wins will presumably be in position to challenge The Acclaimed on the next big TV. It's refreshing to see a company with faces and heels not being afraid to run a face vs face mini-feud. Or having a babyface champion who will defend against challengers from either entrance tunnel. 10
J.T. Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 (edited) Sign Vertivixen. The Lethal Injection is one of those moves that either looks devasting or complete garbage depending on Lethal's timing and the guy taking the move. Last night featured one of the least shitty Lethal Injections I've ever seen. It actually looked pretty decent. Edited December 24, 2022 by J.T. 3
HarryArchieGus Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I wonder if any thought has ever been put into a pre-Rampage Battle Royal Youtube exclusive? Rampage could nicely join in progress for the manageable and fun down the stretch portion. When last we saw AR Fox in ring with Rush/Dralistico he was brutally attacked after the bell including what looked like unprotected chairshots. Here he got in the ring and it was like nothing ever happened. C'mon AEW creative! I liked the SAP leaving the desk and Rush-Claudio, the 2 on 1 to close it out and little else. Has Kingston been on Youtube Probation or something? More nonsense from the House. In ring they have no problem getting over, but put a mic in Black's seemingly capable hands and he'll gladly lower his stock. Whatever. Kingston/Ortiz v HOB sounds fine. How's Santana's health? Are he and 'Monkey' over their spat? Santana seems completely forgotten, and something tells me I might see him on the other channel at some point reaching a greater level. Garcia and Gueverra is a storyline and combination I am very pleased with. On the otherhand, AEW Creative seems to have an incredibly difficult time keeping momentum for their Asskicking Squash Machines - I offer the examples of an ice cold Jade, a frosty Wardy and the nowhere to be seen 'Bulgarian'! Well, Wardy'll find a way - Joe v Wardy is a thrilling bout to look forward to at least. Ha, Hobbs beating somebody in the back has to be one of Alex Marvez's greatest news scoops yet! I don't mean to wish ill will but as a viewer I wouldn't mind seeing replacements for both Lexi Nair and Alex Marvez. Hmmm, I would've thought Bowens and the Ass Man against the great Jeff Jarrett and Lethal would be something I would thoroughly enjoy. I just couldn't keep focused on this one, and it had nothing to do with Jarrett. I like Jarrett's Colonel Sanders hair. I'd love to see David Proval revive the Richie Aprile character for a series of AEW cameos where he refers to Jarrett as 'Wings'. Anyway, good finish. Looking forward to this fantasic team of Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett getting a shot at the gold. Give them the straps, Tony! 2
