In context, it still wasn't a great look but not as bad as it was being made out to be. I'd be more worried that he threatened to recruit Lawler to AEW. John from Cincinnati
A lot of the EVPs have been on his podcast. They've surely seen people dunking on him on social media for some of the things he says. You hire Jim Ross, you know he's going to say some old man things from time to time that get him in hot water on the Twitters. I'm just surprised/impressed he's managed to step in it (or not? I have no idea) before their first show even kicks off. Talk about a quick return on investment!

That’s the worst part about hiring certain people in wrestling. You have to realize who their friends are, and the favors they want you to do to keep them happy.

There'll be four in the Casino Battle Royale.
LoneWolf&Subs
Didn’t Ross’s pedigree help them get a TNT deal? I guess maybe that was the only great thing in retrospect. So... Ehhhhhhhh...

So is the PPV also showing the 'Buy In'? Xfinity has it running to 4 am so the replay starts at midnight which means Buy is at 7 pm then the PPV starts at 8 pm. SirFozzie
I think it's pretty safe to say we have a wrestling war once again.
ChesterCopperpot
Cody replacing his Dad in the rehash of the 1994 Dustin vs Stud Stable storyline was fucking awesome.

Nice Guy Eddie
I love when wrestling gets me excited like when I was a kid. Double or Nothing gave me that feeling. Edited May 26, 2019 by Nice Guy Eddie
Zakk_Sabbath
This was a show that very, very much catered to my tastes (including Bret Hart!!!!!) and I really, really enjoyed it. Moxley out of the crowd gave me flashbacks of Scott Hall coming out of the crowd on Nitro. Cody/Dustin was legitimately emotional. Every match was great. Jericho/Omega delivered big in my opinion, even if it didn't quite live up to the dome match with a couple messy spots. Not sure how I feel about the elbow but as someone who didn't see the lead up, I liked it as a new flash-finisher ala Bryan's flying knee when he beat Cena at SummerSlam that one year. Production needs tightening up some, but it wasn't major. A few missed camera shots, Excalibur coughing in the mic a couple times. But it's nitpicky shit. Loved the overall presentation, beautiful entrance ramp, beautiful world title belt. AEW seems like the real deal, I really gotta say. It helps having such a hot crowd, and if the atmosphere at the arenas are like that at TV I think it's gonna come across great and huge and very major league. Big thumbs up from me. I saw Naylor say on Twitter it was a GAB 96 level show and I'm hard pressed to disagree.

Jiji
As the tv is weekly, there's no way they'll have nothing but hardcore fans week in, week out.

LoneWolf&Subs
Moxley’s brief timeout from wrestling taught him that hitting the double arm DDT quickly makes it look better. Edited May 26, 2019 by LoneWolf&Subs

That's probably drilled into WWE guys to have a dramatic pause before their finishers for the cameras.
Flair’s Shadow
Daaammm... AEW hit a home run tonight. I got the Jericho - Omega fight exactly correct in how it would finish with a knockout from the Judas Effect. But I got pretty much everything else wrong in the card..lol. All Out in Chicago is going to have lots of PPV buys.

EVA
I loved the show. Most I have enjoyed a North American PPV/special in ages. Not saying it was the “best” (there are some NXT specials that were loaded with better matches), but the energy was spectacular. It felt vital in a way that even the strong Takeover cards haven’t for a while. It’s a damn shame there isn’t a TV show starting this week, because my ass would be on the couch for it.
Niners Fan in CT
To add to what I said in the other thread, the Moxley thing was a huge get. I don't know if he'll be exclusive but it is a signing that goes beyond the AEW bubble. This is a guy who a couple months ago was a top 5 star in WWE, 1/3 of The Shield and had his own farewell event on the network. Now he's feuding with Kenny Omega. It's not a match I thought I wanted to see until tonight and now I'm willing to pay to see it as I know it will be insane. This show delivered in ways that I didn't think would be possible. Now let's see how they do weekly TV.
EVA
I watched the show with a friend who doesn’t really keep up with the Indies at all, and MJF was got over with him in about 30 seconds. I hope they stick with whatever they’re doing with the Smash Bros, despite the lukewarm response they got. It got better the weirder it got.
