WWE BRAND SPLIT 2.0

Recommended Posts

No - they only other time they did it was during the first brand split

The reason they do it is because the Smackdown crew will be somewhere on Sunday night because of a house show

They don't want the talent then wasting a day (Monday) waiting around for the Tuesday live TV show - they do a house show on Mondays.

RAW crew will work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday (TV)

Smackdown crew will work Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (TV)

Quote

The Raw crew will run house shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Smackdown crew will run Saturday and Sunday. Since they will be on tour and not work Raw, it would make sense for WWE to return to Monday night house shows for Smackdown, so this will add new dates, and since house shows are profitable, increase profits. WWE has not confirmed the return of Monday house shows and all advertising for shows after 7/5 is being redone. That would require scheduling a new Monday date weekly, but I know of periods where the live events department has on more than one occasion, with no notice, had to rip apart and redo the schedule. But for talent on the road, it makes no sense for them to be away on Saturday and Sunday, and since they won’t be used on Raw, to sit around on Monday away from home to do nothing and wait for the Tuesday taping.

The was last week's WON. It has been confirmed since then that that is the schedule

So when they do foreign tours, will it be one brand overseas and the other staying in the USA, or both crews in Europe (or wherever) at the same time? The two UK tours a year become one for each brand?

I'm interested to find out. I hope I get the better brand/crew/lineup in November 2016.

This is probably the best option in case a natural disaster keeps the overseas crew stuck overseas and unable to come back to America for live TV

You speak as if Vince can't control the weather.

Well when was that big Iceland volcano eruption that kept the RAW crew stuck in Europe? That was proof he couldn't control the weather or prevent natural disasters. Also the big snowstorm after the 2015 Rumble that gave us RAW live from the place formerly known as Titan Towers

Who's to say Vince didn't do that to test the resolve of his crew? The Greater Power works in mysterious ways.

Wouldn't it make sense to run Smackdown live on a Thursdays and run Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday and run the Raw crew Fridays, Saturday, Sunday and Monday? Raw crew gets Tuesday-Thursday off, Smackdown gets Mondays through Wednesday off.

Going live on Tuesday makes no sense.

Apparently - at some appearance this weekend, Jerry Lawler told fans that they are going to do 2 PPVs a month when the Brand Split starts

(I would guess the "big" shows (ie: Summerslam, Mania, Rumble) would be joint and they would do only one PPV that month)

That seems like a mistake.  I think they'd be better off doing the Raw/Smackdown/Joint shows.  Slow build feuds like you do with NXT so you don't have to run the same match on 3 PPVs in a row.

Well, in terms of talent depth, the first brand split happened because they had the combination of the ex-WCW influx, and a generation of developmental graduates coming up, so there was enough hungry talent to fill to top spots for a good while. Whereas now, whilst they do have another good generation from developmental either on the way up or there already, the only influx is in terms of comebacks of long term injury guys - and really it's been better without Orton there.

Most likely, you get one show that tries to push new hot acts, and one that tries to push established ones. Which is fine, except Reigns is going to be a millstone on the hot new names side.

If that's the case, it seems more likely that the "big shows" are joint, but instead of one PPV that month, they move Takeovers away from Full Sail for good and always pair Takeover with the big events like Brooklyn or Dallas this year, still giving 2 PPVs a month.

It won't be perfect because instant money trumps long term success.... but it will be better than what we have now.

It sounds like it's gonna be 2 of exactly what we have now.
