DECEMBER 2015 WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

RIPPA

IIRC, Many in the IWC wanted him to turn heel and reveal he was faking it the whole time.

Basically people wanted him to be the wrestling version of that movie The Ringer with Johnny Knoxville. I believe one idea thrown around was his Uncle Eric forced him to be Eugene otherwise he was going to fire him. I only remembered The Ringer because it randomly happened to be on Comedy Central yesterday. Terry Funk gets a surprise royalty check from it.

I think Bayley could pull off a Eugene gimmick.

WWE would probably be wise to not have a developmentally disabled character in 2015 (or 2016 for that matter).

Or ever

The fact that Eugene has never been brought up against WWE is a miracle at this point.

It was actually one of the better-written and executed WWE gimmicks/storylines maybe ever.  I mean, when you've got a crowd cheering for a guy who is supposed to be mentally-challenged and not chanting anything derogatory.  And, man, if you didn't want to stand up and cheer when Regal stood up for his buddy, you have no soul!  Eugene was a well-done character, really.

Re: Eugene - he was heel for a bit after turning on Duggan; in that he didn't show up for a few weeks, then beat Duggan on RAW as a heel, then vanished for a few weeks, before coming back as a face and teaming with Duggan in one of the two Tag Title Battle Royals on one episode of RAW (Michaels and Cena were defending, won the first, lost the second).  He may have also been "heel" for a week or two when HHH tricked him into joining Evolution and helping him against Benoit, which led to the Regal return when he attempted to destroy HHH for screwing with Eugene.

Re: WWE screwing up Bayley on the main roster - it's almost more fun to figure out how they'll screw Bayley up.  Will she turn heel after like a week, or end up spending a few weeks being all innocent and "OMG, you're The New Day, I've seen you on TV! *Hugs*" until she meets Cena and jumps in the shower with him after like 10 seconds?

I posted this in another thread, but "cult leader guy" has to be the easiest thing to write. Bray is a "god" complex guy who uses his position and charisma to try to get people to join his group. (Undertaker--your old, you've lost your powers. Join us and we will ensure you will never lose again. We will make you WWE champion". You won't join? We will destroy you. Some do, most don't. The ones that do, after a time, come to their senses and turn back face.

Unfortunately this all falls under plot development and story lines. So, eat worlds and #whateverthefuckBrayistalkingabout.

Had lots of fun at the Destiny show tonight!

Highlights: Eric Young doing a run in after the opening 3 way dance between Pepper Parks, Phil Atlas and Stone Rockwell and laying out the winner Rockwell with a piledriver on a chair. Dalton Castle had a fun comedy match with Psycho Mike including a beautiful dead lift German. Greg Oliver and Santino Marella gave a special award to Ricky Johnson. Ken Anderson and RJ City had a great match, won by City. Ricochet won a 4way with a sick looking shooting star press. Kongo Kong ( with Scott D'Amore) beat Randy Reign, setting up next months main event of Kong (with D'Amore) facing Reign (with Santino in his corner) in a street fight, with special guest referee MICK FOLEY! Moose and Michael Elgin with both be on next months card as well. Such a fun night of wrestling!

Just take The Undertaker's Ministry gimmick and give it to Bray.

I think of it more like Raven's Flock. Mix new wrestlers in with converted lower carders who are floundering. Let it run for a while, see who the audience connects with, and give them the rub of seeing the light/breaking free, a la Saturn and Kidman.

Jimmy Jacobs should be the only writer on WWE's staff that should be writing any storylines for the Wyatt's.

I wonder how much if anything he comes up gets used in anyway. Or by the time it gets to Vince, it's not remotely close to what it started as.

I think they could do the original Bayley gimmick when they first bring her up where she is a star-struck fangirl backstage, but rather than keeping her "learning how to wrestle" a little bit better in each match, she is coming in as the former NXT Champ and is still great in the ring. She's now up in the "big leagues" and is super excited and marking out to be meeting John Cena and HHH and Stephanie. That's a part of what endeared her to fans at the beginning, because she is "one of us". Her main roster introduction could just be an accelerated version of her initial NXT run. It can be a month of backstage marking out bits while also showing some of the great video packages they've done for her in NXT and video packages showing clips of her highlights from her matches in NXT. Show some of the Sasha Iron Man match and clips of her beating Charlotte and Becky Lynch. By the time she gets an actual match, if they invest some actual time in introducing her little by little like this, she'd be over huge.

Of course, they would never spend that amount of time trying to get over "some random NXT woman" and she'll just show up on night on RAW and challenge Charlotte or a Bella or Paige and then win with no build up at all and just expect that everybody watches NXT and already knows her and why she's so good. Then she'll flounder with no real character at all for months and they'll wonder why she's not over like she was in NXT.

I was gonna post that Eugene was now an NXT trainer but I checked real quick and it looks like he's already been released, which is a bummer. Believe it or not, pre-Eugene, he was one of my cousin and I's favorite WCW job guys growing up

He just opened up a wrestling school right outside of Sioux Falls about a month or so ago and ran the first of what he hopes will be many shows in the area.

Is there an Extreme Warfare Revenge-esque fed booking simulator that I can get for my iphone that you guys recommend?

I've looked around for one, but haven't found anything other than something like a "Wrestling Booker" game that I don't think had any reviews and cost money, so I didn't download it.

Along the same lines, has anyone bought the WWE 2K mobile game?
