OCTOBER 2015 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

RIPPA

I might be forgetting exactly what happened but I think The Authority got pissed off at Cena because he sided with Daniel Bryan. The Authority acknowledges that Cena is "best for business" but they can't have Cena straying from the company line like that so they decided on a replacement. So The Authority turns to Randy Orton who is a big star in his own right. The Viper. The 3rd generation former world champion with Hollywood actor looks.  But Orton is mentally unstable.  He's like that Wide Receiver who you know is difficult to stop and a difficult match up for any defense but fuck.. he's not easy to deal with and a bit of a nutcase.  So in comes THE ARCHITECT of The Shield. Seth Rollins.  He is PLAN B. If Orton goes off the ranch, they can back Big Seth. Seth Rollins is a rising star and whom some would say was the brains behind The Shield, the most dominant faction in recent memory. Everything is working out well with PLAN B, for a while.  But Seth gets a little full of himself and also makes some costly mistakes so now The Authority starts questioning if they made the right decision and sets up challenges for Seth to see if he really is the guy they thought he was.

This actually sounds like a decent idea. The execution has simply sucked.

If they gave Roman Baron Corbin's NXT character he would be the biggest heel they've had in years. I don't know why they are so set on forcing him as a babyface. He doesn't have babyface charisma imo. The women showing up to see him now aren't going to stop coming if he turns. In fact when he turns and gets more edgy it'll attract an even bigger female following. This seems like a win win to me.

I wouldn't mind Tamina being Sasha's bodyguard and occasional tag partner going forward. That's of course if she stays heel. I wonder how many people in the company saw Sasha getting way more over as face than Charlotte on the main roster. They may not be able to get her a heel reaction until Bayley comes up.

Yeah, this is always the problem with WWE or at least for the past few years. They have a good idea, sometimes a GREAT idea but the writing isn't good enough to bring the story where it needs to be.  In the case of The Authority story:

1. Writing hasn't been very good

2. Brock Lesnar wasn't around enough to capitalize on him killing everyone around ringside or the Seth feud

3. Seth Rollins is sent out to die with 20 minute promos

4. There's so much television that Seth ends up fighting the same opponents over and over again and often before the PPV

5. They haven't built up enough credible challengers so we end up with Kane who has done well but isn't going to move the needle and Roman who was forced and then rejected.

It's too bad we didn't get American Badass Taker back. See, he would do legends house. But because Deadman Taker is so dedicated to living in character and never breaking it we would never get something cool like Taker on Legends House.

Ah hell, lets just give Taker his own weekly late night chat show. Taker in a bar with a bottle of whiskey. Maybe a game of pool is played. Soupbones handed out.

Not my opinion on women's wrestling or women in general; just trying to get into the mindset of Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn

I wanna see a game show where today's workers have to try to throw empty beer bottles at stop signs while going 80 miles an hour down the freeway on the way to a live event.  After going through some quickfire training from whatever vets they have left that can still pull it off (and it's not like Ric Flair's doing anything).

Totally on board with all of this.  He doesn't even need guests.

IMO, Reigns was the more natural fit for the Authority.  Good looking, multi-generational wrestler, was pushed as the muscle for the Shield, has the physical presence to stand beside Orton without looking like the baby brother of the gang.  He could have easily slid into the Batista role for them and in 18 months, made the inevitable face turn against HHH and Steph.

If they really want to push a Rollins/HHH/Reigns saga, simply have HHH turn on Rollins and add in the kicker that Seth wasn't their actual first choice.  They just went with him because Reigns either turned them down or didn't pick up their call.

As it stands, they can still turn Reigns into a Punisher-type antihero:  one who takes on the win by any means persona and just destroys people with no remorse, but still having just enough of a conscience not to betray those who mean the most to him (it keeps him from turning on Ambrose).  But they'll need to Rollins face first to free up the heel/antihero with heelish overtones spot for Reigns.  Then Rollins can be the high-flying face he's best suited for and Ambrose can be the wild but good-hearted protaginist in their story.
