RIPPA
Obviously they are going to want to put him on the practice squad - the question is does someone else sign him instead
RIPPA
Champ Bailey cut by the Saints so it might be the end of the road there
johnnyboy
Who is particularly thin at DE to stop him clearing waivers? I'm convinced he'd have made a lot of other teams, just the Rams have a full set of d-linemen. Robert Meachem and Champ are among the bigger names released by the Saints. I always had a soft spot for Meachem and wouldn't mind seeing him have his tyres kicked in NE. (I should say that the soft spot is mainly down to performances in Madden )

Vincey Greene
So am I nuts or does it on a business level make sense to keep a marginal but very profitable guy like Sam around? I know if I ran an NFL team, I'd sign him whether we need him or not just for the jersey sales.
Burgundy LaRue
I would think most teams can reasonably find a place for Sam, even if it's just on special teams. It's clear the guy works hard. Most teams always need a general purpose guy like that.
Josh Mann
This isn't a THAT QUARTERBACK WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED situation. Sam proved in the preseason he deserves a job somewhere, even if it's just on ST.
Niners Fan in CT
Well the Niners need help... at least for the short term Cue ESPN ten minute segment on why SF is the perfect place for Sam, etc. But yes, I do think someone will pick him up, he had a great preseason.

elizium
I'd be pretty happy if the Packers picked up Sam, the defense is always such a horror show, any help would be appreciated.
hammerva
The Browns have parted ways with Nate Burleson. Perhaps he can console himself with some pizza. Preferably delivery. Kind of surprised by this one. I mean right now your #1 WR is Miles Austin and your other 3 or 4 receivers have about 20 catches in their career
JRGoldman
Yeah, I am not in love with going in to week one with Miles Austin and Andrew Hawkins as the entire WR core. The offense is going to be truly terrible.
supremebve
Yeah, I am not in love with going in to week one with Miles Austin and Andrew Hawkins as the entire WR core. The offense is going to be the Cleveland Browns offense. Fixed that for you. My dream in life is to live long enough to see a Browns quarterback better than Bernie Kosar. Is that too much to ask? The Man Known as Dan
Who is particularly thin at DE to stop him clearing waivers? I'm convinced he'd have made a lot of other teams, just the Rams have a full set of d-linemen. This is basically it. He had a really strong pre-season, but he was competing with Ethan Westberooks for a job, and Westbrooks simply played out of his mind in the pre-season. Rams would love him to get on the practice squad, but I'd be pretty stunned if he gets through waivers.

I feel as a life long Browns fan and supporter of Kosar, seeing his daughter go in to porn serves as a better metaphor for the Cleveland experience than I would probably care to admit.

Niners Fan in CT
I'd say at least 1987. Kosar was real solid.

RIPPA
The Saints currently have no kicker which makes me giggle since it's a big batch of "Thanks for getting us through preseason now go fuck yourself"
Kevin Wilson
That's ok, the Bills kept two punters, just in case one gets tired during the games I guess they can use the other one.
pipGofern
The Saints currently have no kicker which makes me giggle since it's a big batch of "Thanks for getting us through preseason now go fuck yourself" Steelers did that last year. There was this big "Who will win the battle of the punters?" storyline - which if nothing else tells you how devoid of intrigue most preseason games are - and then when it was time to set the final roster, they cut them both. It's gotta be pretty disheartening to basically be told, "There's somebody out there another team doesn't want but who we're 100% confident is better than either of you two."
