  1. Huge problem for a lot of guys of the era, actually

  3. TCM's Ben Mankiewicz will be introducing Toni Storm this week on Dynamite. This is something I dreamed up months ago and told RJ City on Bluesky, I can only assume I had some influence on this folks.

  6. Whoever showed Danielson Pirata Morgan matches has a lot to answer for. BONUS ALTERNATE JOKE: He's just setting up his new masked gimmick: The Andalusian Dog.

  7. The only possible answer to that would be STOP THE EDDIE with him running around with Homicide stabbing everybody with forks.

  8. The grand-nephew of the guy who wrote and directed All About Eve is involved in this storyline now? Amazing, I love it.

  9. This isn't in reference to this board, but i feel like more wrestling fans need to take this mentality. Not everything is for your taste, just the way something you love might not be for anyone else.

  10. This is incredible. Dude from Turner Movie Classics is introducing “Timeless” Toni Storm tonight. Even better: Ben Mankiewicz is the grandson of director Joseph Mankiewicz, who directed All About Eve. That’s the inspiration for the Mariah May gimmick they are running right now.

  14. All I know is I read "Trevor Dame" as "Taylor Dane" the first 3-4 times I saw that and wondered when the singer of 80s classic "Tell It To My Heart" moved over to dirtsheet reporting. Seriously, though, AEW is great. The C2 is cooking. I can't really be arsed to give much of a shit about longtimers complaining about the company changing and "not feeling like the old days" when that shit happens to every successful company. I also can't be bothered to care about bad faith posters gleefully reposting doom and gloom and making cheering for a company's demise their whole personality.

  15. I've probably dialed back my criticisms a tad in the WWE Network thread recently in regards to Mike Rotundo/Rotunda after Bray died but I find Mike Rotundo to be boring. I mean, it's possible that he had some good Florida stuff that I can see on YouTube and he's not a bad wrestler, but he's replacement-level at best. Also if the 1990 NWA actually believed in coherent booking to explain gimmick changes, Mike Rotundo should have won a boat in a battle royal or something goofy before he became a captain of a boat.

  16. I still want to know how he went from captain of the wrestling team to the captain of a boat lol

  17. Rampage and Collision are usually behind the TSN+ paywall. I pay for five fucking TSN stations already, so I am not a TSN+ subscriber. They are airing Rampage and Collision on one of the over-the-air channels this week, presumably because the show is originating from Canada.

  18. The Ronda/Marina vs Athena/Billie was awesome, with nice continuation the following week with Billie vs Marina. The MIT graduation ceremony afterwards being the thing that made Billie snap was good and it was a nice nod to Billie's own graduation, except totally opposite. I was very happy for Lexi though, she totally deserved it after having Athena's back during the Eddie Kingston-promo! Well, now it's Billie's time to show if she learned anything studying under Athena's learning tree, or was this just an extended lesson in bullying? There was some other good matches within those two episodes, was happy to see Butcher and The Blade show up. Komander vs Gringo Loco was pretty insane and one would think Dalton Castle would be the obvious choice for the next TV champion. Need to watch Andretti vs Cage again, because I dozed off. The idea of that match intrigues me, at least.

  19. You mean to say that people, likely the people that worked on Kevin Sullivan's team, were upset that their boss that they liked and hired them was fired? Well no fucking shit. Wow. Truly ground breaking reporting going on. Name me a company where that doesn't happen. Shit, my department and team went through a new manager or director every 3 years or so and they were always well liked and every time they moved on it was a feeling of doom and gloom. Unless your direct report or person above them is a complete cunt then yeah, people aren't going to be too fucking happy.

  24. Pretty good one here. Rush/Mox was passable but I expected more. Moxley is looking real tired, just like he told us. I didn't notice but he had a badass BATTLARTS NEVER DIE shirt on for the spot with Swerve. Swerve vs. Chicken was great! Nice grinding pace, hard hitting, quality stuff. Swerve's two big moves being 1. jumping past someone while pretending to kick them from behind and doing a thigh slap and 2. appearing to teabag someone from the top rope don't matter because he is so good at everything else. We probably knew our lovable goober Mark wasn't gonna make it but hell, he's still a roadblock. Mankiewicz showing up just killed me. The only thing better would have been him getting a closing bit where he talked about how she prepared for the match or something. Anyway, it was the Battle of the Butts and it was pretty good and buttastic. Skye even stole the hip butt attack and did an Ohtani corner kick for good measure. Toni's gear now is looking more like an old timey swimsuit or bloomers pulled up too high too. Jay White had an Owen slobber on his face and that's all I saw of that. Von Erichs are not in MLW... hmmm... Finally we got a TV crusher from Christian/Edge. Edge worked the hand, Christian worked the jaw, Christian was such a chickenshit he threw the ref back in the ring to count Edge out right before the break. End was the ga-ga that was coming but oh well. Me likey. What was Renee wearing tonight though? It looked like the pattern of Ricky from Trailer Park Boys' shirt drawn giant. And from the glare it might've also came from Ric Flair's Furniture Emporium and Suit Rentals.

  26. I’ve been way behind on my watching so threads close before I get a chance to add a couple pennies. Anyway, the C2 rules so hard, and I love that there is a lot of psychology involved as well as movez. Claudio-Brody was even better than I would have thought, went beyond just a big hoss fight. The pathos of Garcia is great storytelling, and Daddy Magic on commentary added a ton to it. And of course Eddie-Bryan was going to be brutally stiff while also masterful character work and match layout. Shocked and happy to see Hijo del Vikingo get a win over Kip Sabian, and love how the announcers keep marking out over the crazy shit these new luchadores are pulling out. Abadon does nothing for me but makes the board and the internet happy without bothering me so enjoy their push y’all.

  27. I've gotten nosebleeds constantly my entire life and I never once lucked out and had it happen during a match. EDIT: Actually, it happened once in my backyard when I took a Van Terminator on a trampoline, but never during a real match,

  31. The Orioles are apparently close to a deal with Craig Kimbrel. Which to me feels like your parents giving you the car they bought brand new 11 years ago which now has 200,000 miles on it, leaks fluids and could fall apart the first time you hit a pothole. I mean yeah, it still runs but....

  35. this matchup is best chance we've ever had for my dream result of a 2-0 OT game that ends on Holding In The Endzone for a Safety. And there'd be no better timeslot for that to happen in than the Thursday Night game the league's desperately trying to trick people into paying for access to.

  36. I never in my life thought I'd be excited about TCM involvement in wrestling but I've been wanting this from the start. I guess now I have to find a way to tell my mom considering TCM is all she watches (well and Hallmark Channel but I disregard that since TCM has good stuff)

  37. I'm kinda weird when it comes to what affects me now. The Boys doesn't bother me at all, but the first episode of Gen V gave me the feeling I had when I first saw the episode of Breaking Bad where Jesse is stuck in the house with the junkies and there's a little kid there who doesn't know how to talk and is pretty emotionless when presumably the two parents are killed. The first episode has stuff with self-harm in it and some pretty bad stuff that happens to parents and it made me feel like I had to come back to the series at a later point. I did read some stuff that it's basically season 3.5 of the Boys and there's stuff from Gen V that will be in season 4 so I'll catch up on it before the season 4 premiere.

  38. Mmmm Evan Williams. $7.99 a fifth at the Thornton's back in the day... 20 years ago back in the day. I was in my 20s and my friends were almost out of high school so we were all hype that it was 86 proof instead of 80!

  42. Late to the party but ended up buying a front row ticket to Collision on Stubhub the day before the show. $140.. not too bad. Anyways, I was seated literally right behind Dasha and Doc Sampson. Really fun show. Danielson/Eddie was one of my favorite matches I've ever seen live. Bobby Cruise put over my Gorilla Monsoon shirt. Plus this happened right after we were DESPERATELY OUT OF TIME following Collision...

  43. This is the third or fourth week in a row that Tony has mistakenly called something a Destroyer/Canadian Destroyer on Collision. At this point I’m starting to wonder if it’s just a gag or bit and one day he’ll actually call it right. Man, it looked like Claudio’s chest was going to burst when he was doing the giant swing on Brody. His chest was just puffed out so much trying to support Brody’s weight. Brody is everything I want in a wrestler. That guy fucking rules.
