  3. "apologies mods, I know this is why we don't have a politics folder, I'm just an ignorant Zionist racist piece of shit". You casually list off All Jazeera and "Islamists" as somehow being inherently anti-Israel (heaven forbid) and by extension, I take it, antisemitic. This already tells me what I need to know about where you're coming from. After spending the last week working with Independent Jewish Voices and Jewish Voice for Peace, in conjunction with Muslim, Palestinian, pan-Arab, and various secular groups in organizing demonstrations and events to support Palestinian solidarity, I don't have much patience for bigots conflating Judaism with Zionism. So excuse me for being busy this week and not responding to your pathetic hateful comment promptly (I'm sure this will get deleted anyway). The rise in antisemitic incidents in the UK you reference is, I presume, the stat from the Metro police that has been making the rounds on social media. Let's take a deep breath for a moment and remind ourselves that this is the same police force tearing down Palestinian flags during non-violent demonstrations. Let's also keep in mind they released that number without any audit or breakdown of specifics (ie, a crowd chanting "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" can be construed as antisemitic,). Here's the thing though asshole: Islamaphobia and anti-Arab racism is once again the norm in America, Canada, and the UK, and it's because of two things: 1) the media bias towards Israel in the wake of October 7, completely ignoring Israel's 75+ years of criminal occupation and ethic cleansing of Palestine's indigineous Arab population; 2) the conflation of Zionism with Judaism which immediately makes the Hamas attack on Oct 7 an attack on Jews as Jews as opposed to what it actually was, an attack on the civilian population of an oppressive state. Further, the Stand Up To Jewish Hate ("blue square") group Max is being utilized by have expressly Zionist and pro-Israel mission statements -- this not a group advocating for Jews writ large, and are totally complicit in shameful smearings of anti-Zionist Jewish groups as being"self hating Jews" (itself an old antisemitic trope). To see AEW incorporating this kind of western propagandist weaponization of antisemitism, while Gaza is bombed into non-existence, while Gaza has been the victim of Israeli genocidal policies for decades, is repulsive. To see you invoking the holocaust to further victimize Jews when 75+ years of Zionist brutality are what led us to the catastrophe we're experiencing now, is repulsive. Maybe you should be checking where you get your news from, because I can promise you the people ultimately making the decisions at CNN, MSNBC, Fox, wherever you get fed this crap have much more in common with actual antisemites than the scary brown people you dehumanized in your shameful post. Edit: also your invocation of ThE hAmAs ChArTeR is hilarious -- maybe read some actual history about that "founding document" and how badly it's been misrepresented to further conflate antizionism with antisemitism. May I suggest starting with the works of Sara Roy, a--gasp!!--Jewish woman, who is also the world's leading scholar on Gazan politics and civil society, including the history of Hamas.

Got my $20 upper deck tickets for Wednesday (well, with Ticketmaster fees for 2 tickets it was actually $67), based on what was available in the different price ranges the side of the arena that's on camera should be almost full in the floor and lower decks and pretty full in the lower parts of the upper deck.

  8. We sleep on how useful Lance Archer has been to AEW. He constantly puts over guys all over the place. He always makes them look good. He's not afraid to make other big guys look like a bigger monster than he is. There's no stupid bits that need to try and give him his heat back afterwards. He goes away for a bit and he still has it because he has a cool entrance, look and his squashes are enjoyable. He could have easily have done far less for Wardlow, Page, Miro but made them all look huge. I don't need to see more of him, he's in a just right spot, where I just want to see him kill a guy every few months or so.

  9. That answers my "how did the Michigan staff not notice this guy being gone every weekend while he was going to games?" question. It feels like, to be anyway, this is going to turn out to be one (or two) rogue people with the rest of the staff not exactly killing themselves to find out where his information and skills came from.

  10. Another thing is that Frank Sheeran was a guy who could knock you out with one punch, and could relate the physics of it. He mostly drank, fought, and fucked when he wasn't doing union work, i.e. stealing. This is a guy who worked as a carny who lost his virginity to the gypsy women, and was Catholic so he'd never jerked off beforehand. I mean, there are some stories in that book.

  14. Went to see Killers with my dad and just got back. We both liked it though yeah, we were gone for four hours (oofta). I'm not sure how you could cut it down, and in fact I expected more from the courtroom and we thankfully didn't (there is probably cross-examination on the cutting room floor). Speaking of the courtroom, how many lawyers has Lithgow played? I got Perry Mason's HBO reboot and some TV comedy from a quick Googling; anyway, damn was he made to play a lawyer. That erudide, almost mocking diction of his is/was perfect. Lily Gladstone was really the rock of the film, it lived and died on her, no matter what stupid, evil shit was going on around her. She was the movie's representative for the whole Osage Nation and all the horrible shit done to them. Very important, and if her acting didn't work, the film wouldn't. She did so it did. It certainly wasn't hanging on DeNiro doing his DeNiro and DiCaprio playing dumb and frowning the whole time. Probably my favorite scene, and the most emotional one, was the conference with the Osage leaders and colleagues. The Osage guy with the Southern accent just layed it the fuck down, unknowing that their enemy, though he called them by name, were sitting right in their midst. He thought he was among friends and allies even though they were white; he was dead wrong. It's a tragedy. Another note about DeNiro, he was too old in this role but I also read the book The Irishman was based on, and man was he REALLY too old for most of that role. Honestly, Jesse Plemons probably deserved that role. And of course Plemons killed it again here. Funny thing I thought of in the car: here, DiCaprio played the role that Plemons played in Breaking Bad of a guy beholden to his evil uncle that somehow doesn't understand how fucking crazy and awful all this is. Granted, Todd was a true sociopath albeit an unaware one and Ernest was just a stupid pawn, but it's a funny connection.

  22. It may just be the way MSG is set up. Anytime I watch old boxing whether it be from the 70s to the early 2000s from the Garden, the tunnel is always facing towards the hard camera. The Forum Boxing shows during the 1990s from what's now the Kia Forum had a similar setup. Ironically, the MSG group owns the Forum.

  26. The Rams didn't get robbed, yesterday was the first game in years where the announcers never mentioned the yellow 1st down line wasn't exact, so being few inches short of the yellow line doesn't mean Pickett didn't get the 1st down. The game should have been over after the pass interference penalty but the refs needed to keep things interesting so they called a bogus "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty on the Steelers. McVay should have saved a time out, it blows my mind that coaches don't keep one in their back pocket in the second half for a scenario like this. Even if the Rams got the ball back they would have had to deal with Watt and Highsmith being unleashed on Stafford, I doubt they get more than one 1st down, let alone a touchdown, PAT(their kicker has the yips) or 2 point conversion. How much money did Darryl Johnston have on the Rams? He sounded like someone who bet money he didn't have on the Rams and is going to have his fingers broken later that night. Pickett was 11/12 for 152 yards in the second half, kid keeps getting better every game. Also, the Stillers are 11-4 in their last 15 games, a lot of those wins were ugly but they're still wins.

  29. Man, here's another complaint about The Irishman. In the book, Frank Sheeran still has entree in mob circles well into his nursing home years. As he says in the book, "my trigger finger still works". There was no sense of threat to him in his later years and honestly in most of the film. DeNiro just played him wrong. That guy in real life was fucking scary.

  32. Been way behind due to playoff baseball (both the Astros and the Phillies, which if that ends up being the series we’ll have to watch from home so my wife doesn’t get beer poured on her). I cheated and watched the opening of Rampage first so I could see Mistico-Azucar and I was not disappointed even if it wasn’t as flashy as it might have been a decade or so ago. The JTTS 3-way I mostly tuned out on, plus I already had it spoiled. Enjoyed Claudio-Yuta, as always. Main was good, Skye is definitely a little more stiff and adding more to her repertoire, her and Ruby have had good matches in the past, and honestly it was time to finally put Skye over rather than more Outcasts retread. Dynamite: Better than the usual Penta match anyway, but why not let White go over clean. MJF addressing the various angles, and the Max Caster interruption, was good and to the point. MJF did a god job of explaining more of the history and why he’s being so weird about it when he was on commentary for the battle royal. Loved Emi-Shida, was hoping they’d let Emi win so I would get to see the rematch in Philly, but alas, they have better ideas for Shida, right? I was not looking forward to the Copeland segment but it actually drew me in and worked. I truly hope they have him work some stuff away from Christian for a while. Wardlow squash was different, at least. But I think they’ve already killed any heat he had. Renee-Kenny-MJF was short and to the point. Please let this be the end of the Adam Cole comedy segments. It was aggressively not funny. Callis has a ton of heat. Takeshita is getting lost in the shuffle. Hobbs has an interesting story to tell. Kyle Fletcher starting a face turn? Omega-Fletcher was great. I still think Fletcher is a future main eventer. Lance Archer isn’t for me, just have never cared. Nana-Swerve at least acknowledged the rich history of Third Coast rap. Sting retiring. Lol’d at Hogan getting booed. Jim Ross-Wayne family sit down was cringe. Battle Royale kinda sucked, but we did get Dustin doing a shattered dreams for money, and more JAS tension. I’m excited for MJF-Juice, it should be a Philly bloodbath. And I guess I get to see Omaha live too.

  36. KOTFM was indeed one of the best movies I've ever seen as well. The only two negatives are the length, while it didn't feel like there was too much filler it could have been 30 minutes shorter without losing much context, and secondly, the ages of Leo/DeNiro were wildly wrong. You'd probably only know this if you'd read the book. Still, again DeNiro looks every bit 80 years old in this when Hale was actually only in his 50s during this time meaning Leo could've realistically played him, who did not look like a WW1 veteran in his 20s either. Other than that it was perfect in tone, colour and acting all the way through. The secondary characters look like they had been cast by the Coen's casting director and if it wasn't for the camera being in constant motion a lot of this movie felt like No Country at its best moments. Brendan Fraser in his very small role stole the courtroom scenes and his talking down to Ernest was so convincing I felt personally attacked when he called him a DUMB BOY as the camera was almost POV. Whilst Scorsese has been quite meta in his last two movies I would say this is better than the Irishman and I loved that too. Confident that this will easily hold up against his most well-known and acclaimed works.

  38. Thoughts on Anarchy Rulz 2000 My friends are here! It was great to see Joey Matthews, Christian York, and Julio Sanchez make their pay-per-view debuts. They worked very hard for us in Steel City Wrestling and countless other promotions and deserved their shot at the big time. Hey, it's the Buckshot Lariat! That's one of my favorite moves, and here's EZ Money doing it (The Money Clip) more than a decade before the Hangman made the move famous. Steve Corino was getting over with the fans, despite the fact that he still had Jack Victory and Dawn Marie in the corner. It was like RVD being super popular while still having cheating heel manager Bill Alfonzo in his corner. I was there when the FBI won the tag team belts in Pittsburgh, but I forgot that Little Guido also won the belts with Tony Mamaluke. They beat Mikey & Tajiri despite a fireball to the groin from the Sinister Minister. Justin Credible was the ECW champion, but he wasn't above wearing a Brett Favre jersey in Minneapolis to get cheap heat. Jerry Lynn is the MVP for winning the title in his hometown, overcoming heel referee Danny Daniels. He was counting fast but Lynn kicked out anyway. Finally, New Jack made a rare appearance in a World title match and neutralized Daniels, allowing Lynn to rally to victory.

  42. It's amazing. To summarize: Vince is removed from power because he's a rapist Vince muscles his way back in by holding any potential sale hostage Vince decides to sell to Endeavor because Ari promises to let him stay in creative A month after the ink is dry, Vince is removed from creative It's awesome that the "I'll owe you one, pal" guy, who built a career on empty promises, ends his career on someone else's empty promise. The "secure the bag" crowd will say "at least he got paid," but that wasn't what Vince wanted. He specifically maneuvered for his position in creative and he got out-carnied. Reminds me of Kanye getting fucked over by Nike. That's what happens when "rich" gets into a showdown with "wealthy." It feels good to see it. Not that I'm one to root for any corporation or billionaire. But in this specific case, where a detestable small time carny finally got his comeuppance, I'm cool with it.
