  7. My big issue with the Sting match is that a gassed Rollins who had just lost one title in an eighteen-minute war should have gone to eye poke/rollup heavy offense. I accept the Cena match right before it being worked like a PWG sprint because both guys wanted to show each other up. However, Rollins's style needed to change to logically fit the narrative of the Sting match, which was Cerebral Assassin Jr. trying to desperately hold onto his other title and prove as resourceful as his mentor against a fired up vet getting maybe his only shot at being WWE champ. Instead, Rollins worked both matches in the same way.

  12. It's odd how The Ascension were way over in NXT, but as soon as they showed up on the main roster, the "WWE Universe" greeted them with indifference. Not really. They got over in NXT as a goof. The crowd was firmly against them, then one night noticed that Konnor yelled "Yah!" every time he made a strike and started chanting along with him. So he got over sarcastically, really, then just sorta stayed over. But it was never a "These guys are awesome, let's cheer for them" kind of way.

  13. He's taken a lot of losses trying to make fashion work. Not quite the same thing as Hammer buying gold toilets. I'll always appreciate people who at least try to be ambitious. I don't think Taylor Swift is bad at music but I also don't think she's pushed anything forward. And Jay could have - the talent was there - but decided to play it safe and make more money instead. They're not really comparable.

  15. ITT people completely missing MORELOCK's point and listing WWE workers that will already be included in the tournament (Bayley, Lesnar, Cesaro, Asuka, etc). I'm looking at you, JCM and GOTNW. Rollins heel character isn't as "great" as Corbin because Rollins heel character is a chickenshit that needed the Authority to help him win everything. His in-ring work, though, was top notch. Switch the characters of Corbin and Rollins and we'd be having the same discussion, but about Baron Corbin. I thought this tournament was about workrate, and in that case, Corbin needs to be at the bottom of the pile. The very bottom. And I like Corbin.

  17. When Jay-Z grew up he became the head of a multi-million dollar business empire that will secure his kin for generations. Kanye became a douchebag 13 year old on twitter jealous of Taylor Swift's record sales.

  18. Just finished watching InVicta 4 Joanna Calderwood looked vicious in her fight and somehow her opponent was able to get it to a decision. Nunes lost which surprised me and Pennington once again seemed sluggish in her lost as well. Bazler vs. Davis was fight of the night with a nasty finish by Davis with blood added to make in more memorable. Carla did what she does and beat Bec to win the Strawweight title. I might try to watch #5 before this weekend's triple header of shows.

  21. My wacky indie experience for the night: Chris Hero's flight was delayed so the St. Louis Anarchy show had to be drawn out to give him time to get to the building. A match or two was added and a ton of matches went noticably long (I think only one match went under ten minutes and Davey Vega vs. Jeremy Wyatt went just under 30). The show clocked in at just under five hours and ended with Mat Fitchett ending Gary Jay's 28-month reign as champion. Good times. Also got to hang out for a bit with A.C.H. as he was visiting.

  24. The 2000s versions were, I think, a little under a lot of people's radars. The 80s version was such a weird pop-culture phenomenon once the Jim Baker scandals hit the tabloids. I mean, Jessica Hahn essentially became a star for awhile out of it. It was also so much gaudier. They were building theme parks and stuff. Then it got, like more efficient and corporate and careful, maybe? Weirdly 80s televangelism commpared to 2000s telvangelism is a lot like 80s WWF vs. 2000s WWE.

  26. seems to me their gonna build around Kento,Jake lee, Nomura and Aoygi as longterm big players, if they can survive. Dont see any hotshotting happening here. Exactly. I'm not sure where they got this hot shot deal from. Go quit, so they put it on Akiyama until the contract situation eased. It's clear the plan was for Miyahara to take it off of Suwama but his achilles snapped. Miyahara's win ideally should have been at Sumo Hall and honestly they should have just left the belt vacant or put it up in this year's TC, but whatever. I guess Akiyama promised a TC match on 2/12, so we got one regardless to who was in the main event.

  27. My hope out of this is that Fox and other studios realize that something that takes the elements of the source material and tries to figure out why they work and leans into them (as opposed to the Fantastic Four movie, for instance), can open from a place of strength, and not just think that people are hungry for lots of R-rated superheroes.

I just wanna make sure you're ALL following Subway WWExperience on Twitter https://twitter.com/WWESubway wherein the user tweets Subway-related themes like "the first time you tried the chipotle southwest sauce on your sub" with wrestling-related videos/GIFs. It's really the best Twitter account on the internet.

  34. I never knew it until this very second, but I need Baron Corbin tapping out indy darlings with a shitty looking Chikara Special. Maybe Quack can convince Corbin to put a mask on.

  35. Remember how Corbin was kind of "meh" for the longest time, and now he's one of the highlights of the show every week? Give Elias a little time before you completely write him off.
