Curt McGirt
The Terminator's on while I'm dicking around on here and I just want to say, they missed a big opportunity to try and whack out Arnold in not rigging the hotel door with a pipe bomb. You know Reese had to have knowledge on how to rig something like that up.

I was further in than I thought, I was more like 3/4 of the way through than half. It's... OK. The set-up seems better than the payoff. There's an early scene that makes it clear that the action climax is going to be them doing an homage to the Hall of Mirrors sequence in Enter the Dragon, only better. The action climax is indeed an homage to the Hall of Mirrors sequence in Enter the Dragon. But not as good. Sorry. Overall, it's worth watching but you won't love it. So every Rock movie since Jumanji. On a seperate note. I wonder why I can't buy a digital copy of Better Off Dead?

Brian Fowler
It appears someone has uploaded the entire movie to YouTube It's always interesting what films just completely fall through the cracks on streaming. (Dogma being a prime example)

Dogma is technically owned by Harvey Weinstein personally. Sony has distribution rights, but the deal didn't cover streaming for the obvious reason that streaming didn't exist. And nobody is really looking to negotiate with Harvey these days for even more obvious reasons. So DVD and Blu (though I believe it is oop) are fine, and I'm assuming TV rights are with that, but nobody has streaming rights. John from Cincinnati
Cold War (2018) A fleet-footed, jet-setting romance that travels Europe over fifteen years, Cold War shows the lavish indulgence and freedom of movement enjoyed by all artists of the Eastern Bloc during the middle of the twentieth century. Or at least those lucky people who happen to know a guy who knows a guy who happens to be a senior party official who can get you off the hook for defecting. Beautifully shot. Good music. Also, folk music. Good dancing. Also, folk dancing. Clocks in at less than ninety minutes, but the vignette-style narrative makes it feel even shorter. Probably better than Green Book. Still haven't seen it. out of five. Edited August 18, 2019 by West Newbury Bad Boy

Yes, because that movie is owned by whoever picked the bones of Miramax. Dogma was sold to Harvey personally, not to Miramax (or The Weinstein Company) after Disney decided to not let Miramax release it.
AxB
I watched Rampart (2011) last night. Hell of a cast. Woody Harrelson, Sigourney Weaver, Steve Buscemi, Ice Cube, a young Jon Bernthal shows up for a second, a very young Brie Larson is Woody's older daughter. It's actually a pretty decent movie, those arseholes on Reddit are just idiots. Woody lost a lot of weight for this movie, so he could play the role of an obsessive personality type guy. But in terms of stories influenced by the LAPD scandals of the 90s, The Shield TV show is better. But it's one of those films that thinks it's artistic to just start in the middle and stop further down the middle, rather than have a beginning, a middle and an ending. Curt McGirt
I remember liking that one a lot. Funny thing, I have a friend named Dave Brown and he couldn't be any further from that character. Also I didn't know they tried to market the film with posters like these: That sure didn't fly, but is awesome and hilarious (not because a cop is beating a man obviously) Edited August 21, 2019 by Curt McGirt
AxB
Yeah, I think a lot of it was mishandled in the publicity department. If they'd marketed it as a great actor giving his career best performance, that might have been a brighter idea. But I think a lot of people don't rate Mr Harrelson that highly as an actor. They think of him as the White Men Can't Jump guy (even though that's actually pretty good too) and his best performances are playing a serial killer and a porn magnate, which aren't going to play too well with the highbrow types. J.T.
Odd body clock kept me awake at weird hours so I caught the replay of Mortal Engines on HBO early Sunday morning. It's certainly not good, but it wasn't as horrible as the reviews made it out to be. The cinematics were beautiful and it had all of the steampunk trappings necessary to hold my attention during the action sequences. The quiet moments, however, were ridiculously boring and the lengthy runtime did not help. Not even Agent Smith chewing on scenery and sneering with malice or Stephen Lang as an undead clockwork cyborg could save the plot progression scenes. The only thing this film did was make me want to watch a feature length movie version of Bioshock or Dishonored, but with a runtime no more than two hours long. If this scene stayed in, I don't think I would hold it in such high regard. I mean, the whole point is that she's a stripper-turned-owner, she only knows how to be a piece of shit, and this scene would contradict so many others. It would be such a Russo-esque swerve. J.T.
The alternate ending was unfortunately not quite right for the times, but I think it'd be a great ending if this came out now in the #metoo era. I think it's sad that back in the day, most test audiences hated the idea of Phelps being a sympathetic character. It's kinda sad that a female owner's only means of getting her shitty baseball team to believe in themselves and win the fucking pennant is to offer herself as a token of vilification because no one would take her seriously even if she tried to earn their respect by providing good leadership. Tabe
Saw Overcomer over the weekend. It breaks no new ground, and you can practically write the script ahead of time, but I was still entertained. Do you like Kendrick a Brothers movies? Yes? Then you'll enjoy it. If you don't, avoid it.
jaedmc
Watched Everybody Knows from Asghar Farhadi with Penelope Cruz and Javi Bardem. Cruz plays a mom visiting her old village for a wedding. Her teenage daughter is kidnapped during the reception. Bardem plays her old flame who still lives in the village and tries to help. The family drama layers are PLENTIFUL and they peel that shit back at just the right moments. Cruz is aces as she usually is when working with directors who give her something to do. Bardem's arc is pretty amazing to watch, and he manages to be both a charming rascal and a vulnerable every man. It's fucking fantastic and is on Netflix. Highly recommend.
