Death From Above
I actually find this a really hard topic not to post one million things because so many of my faourite tracks off albums are hot openers.

J.T.
I cannot get to everything and I wanted to save some hip hop for other people to post. Otherwise I'd have put up:

J.T.
I was trying to show musical diversity and trying to avoid my post being a bite on The Comedians.
The Comedian
I already feel like we need an Album-Closing Song Battle thread...
Randy
Does this count? It's the opener on an EP, not a LP.

Curt McGirt
OH SHIT This opens the door for a thousand other great Funkadelic songs (and even Parliament because "One Nation Under A Groove" is the best) to enter the battle. But this, taken in context of the album and how different it was and how influential it became, is just explosive. EDIT: Listening back, this is probably just the best intro song ever. EDIT II: In the words of Autopsy, "OKAY... I'LL DO IT" Both albums have limited returns after the initial onslaught, but hey. Great openers.

JLSigman
Can't go far without some game inspired music (altho I'm avoiding actual game soundtracks) Not knowing what to expect, and getting this? Yeah, this blew my mind. Then I got my Dad hooked on them.

J.T.
There goes my last like for the day. The NSFW album covers from the Ohio Players were one of the best things about growing up in the 70's.
CSC
And now for something completely different, ABBA sure wasn't afraid to put their best song on the album at #1.
Brian Fowler
It's a shame that N.Y. State of Mind technically isn't the opener.
grilledcheese
Lots of stuff I would have already mentioned, but here is one that I always thought set the perfect tone for the rest of the record.
Travis Sheldon
More... Before this song was co-opted by people who never understood what the lyrics actually said or meant, this was a thing... The masters... I'm hooked on ellipsis tonight... The original story songwriter for me... I'll stop here, as I can't type through the tears...
