odessasteps Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Certainly more common in a tag than 2 different matches. also, unusual to have a luchador and luchadora unmask on same show. 1
zendragon Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Was reading Dick Beyers book and he talked about not wanting to lose his match. Which lead me to wondering what is known about the politics of losing masks in Mexico?
odessasteps Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Its mostly an economic decision. And if you are a mark for yourself and your gimmick. look how long it took Wagner to get the right price and what stage of his career. and Park. Would he really be Park without his hood? 1 1
zendragon Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 So its the wrestlers decision? Basically someone offers them enough money to do it? Would the idea of someone losing their mask orginate from the booker/ promotion or wrestler them selves?
odessasteps Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 I believe it could be both. a wrestler may make it known he’d lose his mask, for $xxx. or a promoter would go to a wrestler and say, “we want someone to lose their mask at an upcoming show. What’s your price?” 1 1
Raziel Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 AAA is doing 2 Apeustas matches at Tripemania next month as well, Penta/Villano is for masks and Pagano/Cibernetico is for hair. I don't recall that happening in the same card before. 2 1

There are low card and jobber luchadores who have lost masks multiple times under different gimmicks. 1

odessasteps Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 I think he would be good with a tweaked gimmick but wearing the skeletal body suit with no mask would be strange. 1

Super Parka lost his hood and still mostly wore the bodysuit and it looked okay. I definitely think that the long tights with the bones was a better look for him, but he was also in really good shape still. If LA ParK wanted to drop the bodysuit, it's a radically different body type we'd be seeing.

Even if they could google the names on some sort of factual basis, the lingo is what would get them. Wrestlers have their own carny but so do we. 4
