Curt McGirt
I just found out that Les Claypool also engineered and produced... drum roll please... Join the Army by Suicidal Tendencies which even with the metal relation is pretty fuckin' weird.

Zimbra
Teresa 'Nervosa' Taylor, drummer for the Butthole Surfers throughout the 80s, has reportedly entered hospice care with end stage cancer. She was also the girl trying to sell Madonna's pap smear in Slacker.

JLowe
https://redparakeet.bandcamp.com/album/we-got-soul-history-lesson-part-ii here you have a split 7” with Mike Watt and a band covering The Big Boys “We Got Soul”, and Up Around the Sun (Tim Kerr’s old-time “not bluegrass” duo) covering The Minutemen’s “History Lesson Part II” with a huge number of people each apparently singing a line (which sounds exactly like something Tim would do). Guest vocalists include Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Ian MacKaye, Eric Friedl (The Oblivians, Goner Records), Cait O’Riordan (Pogues), John Doe (X), Lee Bains, Spot (legendary SST producer), Tim and his wife Beth, and a bunch of his friends.
zendragon
So in @Dolfan in NYC's Wrestlemania rewatch thread he mentioned a really interesting book called A Libertarian Walks into a Bear, rally fascinating read about a small town over run with libertarians'! Anyway hears Billy Bragg to tell you all about it!

Zakk_Sabbath
Metallica secretly recorded a new album - "72 Seasons" will be out on 4/14 They just beamed the first single, "Lux AEterna" right to my phone: https://youtu.be/_u-7rWKnVVo 2023/24 World Tour to follow, with support from Nu-Pantera, Wolfgang Van Halen, Ice Nine Kills, and Five Finger Death Punch aka the 'grab more beers and another sausage & peppers' slot. https://blabbermouth.net/news/metallica-announces-massive-m72-world-tour-for-2023-2024 I wanted to hate this, but can't. Really, really strong effort, and a much better lead single than 'Hardwired' IMO - hype levels are much higher this go 'round. 1

Death From Above
I made a Christmas playlist for myself called Christmas For People Who Hate Christmas But Also Want To Eat Godamnit https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LHRFuULJeA6ox3H0pwhXS?si=02868ba18ade463a The Shatner version of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is absolutely vile, people need to hear it. Great party conversation starter.
twiztor
listening to the new Mount Westmore (Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, E-40, Too $hort) album. Man, $hort is terrible. i mean, he's never been good, but alongside these legends he just stands out as absolute trash. no cadence, no flow, below average lyrics. brings the entire album down. seriously, he's the worst part of every single song. Curt McGirt
So, now I know where Big Boys got all their funky, angular, jagged stuff from. Mind warp of an album. EDIT: Good lord. "Contort Yourself" has some of the all-time best screams on a record ever. James Chance sounds like he's trying to make the bugs stop crawling on him.
