(Though I wouldn't argue with anyone who ranks the Shibata match as his best. Depending on the day, I do, as much as I love the Kenny/Tana epics and understand why some might cringe at Shibata's self-immolation. Pro wrestling is beautiful and hideous and violent and euphoric and cathartic and tragic and fulfilling and empty; I can't think of another match that gets it all so comprehensively.) But I think the utility of a list that leans pre-Bushiroad outweighs the bullshit, and I really like most everything there--if not the stated reasons. I'm rarely blunt but to say the Okada/Tanahashi series didn't get better and Kazuchika Okada needs carrying, I had to be and still am. Ricky is talking rubbish. The Natural
I wouldn't argue either with someone who has Okada/Shibata as Okada's best. There's a couple of Okada matches I rate more though: 1. Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega, NJPW Dominion 2018. 2. Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 10. 3. Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega, NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11. 4. Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling 2013. 5. Kazuchika Okada vs. Tetsuya Naito, NJPW 40th Anniversary Show. All *****. Archibald
Inokism twitter sphere is weird and speaks lots of rubbish when it comes to "old vs new", but at the same time they do provide unique perspective. Thou I wonder how much it is defensiveness due to "Inoki bad" talking point being rather popular today.

I do think a lot of the vitriol is an over-correction to the hate Inoki and the 2000s get, but I've gotten pretty good at just glazing over the "Omega was a worse WK main eventer than Josh Barnett" level idiocy. (And I actually really like Nagata/Barnett.) Short version is I try to be non-dogmatic in my wrestling consumption, so I like resources that advocate strongly for flavors outside the current zeitgeist. What's his signature move at this point, he shows the opponent the cover art of his porn video and they run out of the ring for a count-out?

Guest Edwin
How did Hashimoto Jr. turnout? I stopped following Japanese wrestling regularly when he was making his start in ZERO-ONE MAX. I remember he had a lot of buzz going around his debut and then he started working for BJW a bit.

If you can track down the final show of the 2017 WSTL, there are two good Okami matches (Hashimoto and Hideyoshi Kamitani).

Ryan
Hashimoto had a weak period, but he seems to be finding his footing again with the tag team. He could get really lazy at times for a long stretch. Even when BJW had the belt on him.
