FEBRUARY 2015 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

Recommended Posts

So if they're going to book angles like this - if this is indeed an angle - then no one gets to complain about "smart fans" reading too much into things, being too meta, or whatever. They're asking for it. Update: By which I mean, they're asking for fans to cheer people based on percieved notions of their being held back. Ergo the people they're pushing - like Reigns, at the moment - are cast in a heelish light. I just don't think this a great direction to go. 'The bookerman is holding you back' just... eh. It worked with Bryan, but that was lightening in a bottle. Can't just do it again and again.

I thought RIPPA made a rule some where that we can't talk about women in the monthly discussion threads? It feels like it because the threads usually get closed wen the topic comes to women..

Also, the internet mocks it, but those Brie Mode shirts when they were pushing Brie as a strong, positive female role model sold like hot cakes. It didn't last long like her push, but her and Nikki are getting new merch all the time. They don't waste money on making new, original merch for people who aren't selling it.

If Vince was the man he was 10 years ago he would absolutely book Cameron vs Summer for a half hour.

Nah, he'd bring Bayley or some other woman not named Charlotte up from NXT and re-package her into a character named Ms. Treatment whose schtick was raising awareness about nagging people regarding the economic and social inequality of women in society until some face male told her to shut up and that this is America where you can't blame anyone else for your own failures except yourself.

Then after six months, the character would be flanderized into something like Ivory's RTC character, coming out to yell at women for showing skin to the evil males in the crowd.

I've honestly never gotten this - what's so empowering about "Brie Mode"? Doesn't that come from Total Divas, where she just gets black out drunk and screams it in various nightclubs? Brie should be with the Rosebuds, if anything. :P

She decided to fight fire with fire, and she'll need some muscle to back her up. So she hired Scott Steiner to speak about the plight of women's issues. I'm in.

I thought it was that dumb thing she yells before she does her second rope missile drop kick until I saw the commercial with them hyping up how Brie Mode is her iron liver.

Oooooh boy, this was on Reddit but was taken down because there was no verification, but it seems pretty detailed to be just some guy's line of bullshit. But, y'know, take it with a grain of salt and whatnot:

"First, Brock Lesnar was not expected to put over Roman Reigns on the microphone nor was he expected to be part of the segment that featured Daniel Bryan and Paul Heyman putting Reigns over. Rather, Lesnar was expected to be a part of the main event. Lesnar's walkout occurred in the hour or so following the Bryan-Heyman-Reigns segment. It is this reason why literally nothing of particular note to Reigns occurred in the main event aside from the Bryan tag-in which the commentators quickly put over as a bit of retaliation of what happened pre-Fast Lane now that they're all buddy buddy (Bryan-Reigns).

Daniel Bryan was made aware of the situation before he cut his promo. Before Bryan did the professional thing that was required of him, putting Reigns over, you can clearly see much more intensity in the promo. That was the makings of a very good promo. It was also cut straight from the hip from a guy who feels legitimately robbed of his main event status at Wrestlemania for the chosen one who really fucked up in a pretty big way.

Reigns failed the WWE's drug testing policy. The higher ups in the WWE were made aware of Reigns's failure early Monday morning.

Clearly all involved are very disappointed in Reigns. It has brought back discussion of Jeff Hardy's drug test failure prior to Wrestlemania XXIV where it was highly likely that he was to win his first championship (which was delayed until Armageddon in December). Many feel that Reigns should be forced to forfeit his position at Wrestlemania and take the suspension. However, Vince McMahon is backing "his boy" and made the decision not to suspend him as there is more than 30-days to go before Wrestlemania.

However, given the current situation in the UFC with the steroids controversy, Brock Lesnar is beyond infuriated with that decision. His legitimate fear is that should he choose to return to the UFC, quite likely given the money that Dana is offering, his Wrestlemania main event status against Roman Reigns links him directly to failed drugs tests in the media. It's a guilty by association issue for Brock and a perfectly understandable one.

Lesnar has demanded that Reigns be replaced preferably with Daniel Bryan or John Cena, both of whom he is happy to put over given their popularity. Lesnar does not particularly care if the much smaller Bryan were to defeat him - it's a non-issue due to the known 'scripted' nature of professional wrestling - as it wont effect his UFC reputation. Again, Vince McMahon has said that Reigns would not be replaced in the main event of Wrestlemania. Lesnar walked out."

Eeerm.  That falls apart for me at the "why Brock is outraged" part.  The guy gets his check and is back on his homestead before the ink is dry.  How would he give an half a proton of a fuck whether the guy he was facing in a worked match failed a drug test?  And how would the media "connect him to a drug test issue" because of some wrestling shit?

Was watching the 'Best of Nitro' doc that's on Netflix still and had left the subtitles on from whatever I'd watched last time.  And it was the "Well we've got a great main event for you..." opening and was subtitling everything but when it got to Ted DiBiase it subtitled it as "Everybody's got a place..." and I thought how different DiBiase's career would have been if instead of a rich dude who bought his way to the top, he was just a guy who invited himself over to people's homes.  "Look, I'm sorry Mr. DiBiase, we only have three chairs!" "Everybody's got a place...for the Million Dollar Man."

Also, Steve McMichael just referred to Hulk Hogan as a "technician" in the ring.

Okay lets assume this is true. Roman failed a drug test. Dude had to come back from a major injury and surgery way too quickly. I would not be surprised if he had to use something accordingly. So first failure is 30 days right? They could suspend him tomorrow and he'd still be able to work Mania.

I'd be absolutely blown away if WWE handed Roman a piss cup at anytime since he came back. Roman failing and still having to wear a vest to cover his flabby stomach be would kinda funny, he clearly needs to get on some new stuff, if this is true.

Samoan genetics, even Rock doesn't have good abs and he's on the best stuff. But yeah there's almost no chance the story is true. Reddit dude never gave verification to the mods and after the post was deleted, probably just a troll copying the verified former WWE employee from reddit.
