2015 RING OF HONOR DISCUSSION THREAD

Recommended Posts

That was an incredible video.  I'll be away, but will order/DVR the show.  Now if I can just keep myself off the internet to avoid spoilers.  (*cue Monsoon voice*  "Highly unlikely")

There will be some NJPW involvement at Field of Honor, though lord knows how healthy any of them will be after having just gone through 20 straight G1 shows. I'm really looking forward to that show as they should get a huge crowd with everyone in town for SummerSlam the following night.

That was a pretty good show. Six-man and main event totally delivered. Kinda shocked Moose got beat again, but I suppose that leads to an Alexander/Moose grudge match in July. Especially considering Elgin's gone for the month and could've been pinned. Roderick is having a helluva 2015 and I'm quite stoked for Lethal/Roddy. Totally bought the false finish with Sabin saving the Addiction too. Good stuff.

So Death Before Dishonor is looking like....

ROH World Title:
Jay Lethal vs. Roderick Strong

Moose w/Stokely Hathaway vs. Cedric Alexander w/Veda Scott

Was a really good show. Loved the fuck out of the main event. Had that classic big match feel to it.

I'm watching the replay and I've enjoyed the hell out of this show so far. I'm up to ReDRagon vs. The Addiction. Christopher Daniels ring jacket is tremendous. He should have started doing the ring general thing a long time ago.

Is Jay Lethal still using that ridiculous handspring cutter?

You know, I HATED it at first, but I've kinda come around on it, now.  As long as he doesn't take too long and the guy has to stand there stumbling around forever waiting for him to catch him, as long as it's quick and crisp, I don't mind it.  I don't think it should be his main finisher, rather something he busts out once in a while when he can't beat a guy with other moves.

I know I'm probably gonna take a ton of abuse for this, but I'm beyond stoked

Dunno if I still have to spoiler this, but I will just in case, that Lethal is the new champ.  I don't really care too much for Jay Brisco.  I like Mark, find his gimmick and style entertaining, but Jay Brisco really does nothing for me.  Since I started tuning in regularly for me, Jay Lethal is my favourite guy, save Dalton Castle.

Didn't really care much for this week's ROH TV

-Despite the "This is wrestling/awesome" chants for the match, I thought Strong-Nakamura was pretty clunky.

-I can't remember the other match, which tells you how much I was into it.

-Oh, THAT's why you guys were going on about Mandy Leon!  Can't believe ROH showed a highlight of three guys kicking a woman in the head for a pop, but here we are...

-Really didn't like the main event.  I think pro wrestling is filled with people who like the Young Bucks schtick, and people who hate it.  I don't either side is right or wrong, but I don't think one side is ever going to convince the other that they're wrong, either.  I think they're actually pretty entertaining wrestlers, but I hate the way their matches are structured, and I hate, hate, hate the super-kick stuff, and hate, hate, hate, hate the silly convoluted finishers like how it was a springboard sommersault spike piledriver, into a double superkick, into a Styles Clash.

I think the Bucks have proved that they're capable of working a very toned-down style. I've seen some matches in New Japan of theirs that I enjoyed. One of their tag title bouts against Timesplitters immediately comes to mind.

I do think their major indie (PWG, ROH) over the top spot gimmick is pretty terrible.

I do find them to be amusing heels.

They have a lot of the same faults that I have with a lot of guys who are either current indie workers or helped influence the current indie worker (see Tyler Black/Seth Rollins), but they at least do a good job of making me invest something in their bouts. I hope we get to one day see them work a toned down version of their style in WWE. I think they'd be really good for that tag division.

Put me in the camp that loves the Young Bucks. Maybe the most meta gimmick in Pro Wrestling, I definitely understand why alot of hate is directed at them. When asked on Reddit his favorite flavor of ice cream, one of them (can't remember which) replied with "vanilla spot monkey". Tremendous.

Just watching this.  That Mark Briscoe bodyslam bump is insane.

That BC/Kingdom 6 Man was the shittiest Super-indy shitfest I've ever seen.  Fuck the Bucks.

I enjoyed the Bullet Club/Kingdom 6 man. I like the Young Bucks for what they are. Taven and Bennett have developed into a really solid team and I feel like Adam Cole isn't needed in The Kingdom. I think their act is just fine with Bennett, Taven, and Maria.

Props to Mark Briscoe or shame on him, not sure which yet, for letting someone like Dijak just dump him over the top rope like that.

I also enjoyed the tag title match. I usually love No DQ matches, weapon matches, etc. I'm looking foward to seeing who reDRagon teams with against The Addiction and Sabin.
