victor Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Looks like an interesting show. * The Shield kicks off SmackDown with a promo on Evolution and Payback. Roman Reigns says Evolution will pay for putting him through the table on RAW. * Cesaro vs. Kofi Kingston is next. Cesaro came out to a big pop with Paul Heyman. Cesaro gets the win and attacks Kofi after the match, hitting him with the Neutralizer while Heyman cheered him on. * Paige vs. Tamina Snuka in a non-title match is next. Paige gets the win with her Scorpion Crosslock. Alicia Fox came out during the match and taunted Paige with the Divas Title belt. She tried to distract Paige to allow Tamina to get the win but it backfired. * Xavier Woods vs. Bo Dallas is next. Bo comes out and cuts another cheesy promo about Bo-lieving. Bo gets the win with the Bo-dog. * Los Matadores, El Torito, 3MB and Hornswoggle are out next. The match is Jinder Mahal vs. El Torito. Torito, without his tail still, gets the win. * Jimmy Uso vs. Bray Wyatt in a Last Man Standing match will take place later. * Paul Heyman comes out and reminds us that Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s Streak. Heyman joins commentary as Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett and United States Champion Sheamus come out for their match. This match was described as a must-see brawl. There were big “Let’s go Sheamus, Bad News Barrett” dueling chants. Sheamus got the win after a finishing sequence that was described as “amazing.” * Big E came out with an American flag and squashed Titus O’Neil. Before they began, Lana interrupted and cut a promo on Big E and America. They got huge heel heat and USA chants, according to our correspondent. She and Rusev watched the match from ringside. * Adam Rose came out to his biggest pop yet, except for the UK, according to our correspondent. Rose went on to defeat Jack Swagger in a match and taunt Zeb Colter some more. * Bray Wyatt vs. Jimmy Uso in a Last Man Standing match is next. This match gets the first CM Punk chants of the night. This was described as a good physical match. Wyatt destroyed Uso in front of the announce table and got the win to end SmackDown. I sense a Big E heel turn coming to team with Rusev.
mattdangerously Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Oooh, another Sheamus vs Barrett match. Those are always worth checking out. 1
RonL21 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I work at Philips Arena, so I was able to catch the end of Main Event and all of SmackDown!. A female fan actually jumped the barricade and tried to get to the Shield just as Rollins was beginning the promo. It will probably be edited out since Rollins paused and waited for security to escort the fan away. Crowd was pretty good all night. Dark Main Event was the Shield vs. the Wyatts. Great match w/ awesome end sequence. The original dark main was Daniel Bryan and the Shield vs. Orton and the Wyatts, but that obviously changed. Alicia actually took the Diva's Title and was posing for pictures w/ it with fans at ringside during the match. And Sheamus and Barrett's end sequence was indeed great.
ebbie Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I wanted Wade to win. He is more awesomer than Sheamus. But I think they should've just let them fight for two hours. THAT is a last man standing match I want to see.
Phantom Lord Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I wanted Wade to win. He is more awesomer than Sheamus. But I think they should've just let them fight for two hours. THAT is a last man standing match I want to see. A WWE remake of The Quiet Man and its epic brawl is right there. 2
The Natural Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Have to try and watch the show for Sheamus vs. Bad News Barrett.
Dirty J. Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I wonder how much time the mainevent got. Throwing away Rose vs Swagger is just silly.
ebbie Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 That's because the real money is in Zeb vs Rose's bunny
SolidGoldBomb Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Looks like an interesting show. I sense a Big E heel turn coming to team with Rusev. If they are going to turn him heel they should have Big E join the Real Americans. Swagger, & Colter definitely need another member for the crew.
OSJ Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Sounds like a much better show than RAW. I could watch Sheamus and Wade beat the crap out of each other for hours. Sad to see Barrett loses, I was really hoping that this push would elevate him to the upper echelons where he deserves to be. Right now, he holds the distinction of being the best worker to not hold the World/WWE title. I am really looking forward to Roman Reigns putting Orton or Bootista through a table, (pretty sure HHH won't sell that much for him, but I could be wrong.)
odessasteps Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I presume barrett losing the linear title will be a talking point on next observer radio show. 1
Matt D Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Am I the only one who wants to see Zeb get "recruited" by Lana and a Swagger/Big E/Rusev anachronistic super group called the Fellow Travelers? Really?

Hoffman Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Am I the only one who wants to see Zeb get "recruited" by Lana and a Swagger/Big E/Rusev anachronistic super group called the Fellow Travelers? Really? I'd be all for that super group, but I think Zeb should be the one doing the recruiting. Being swayed by a young, blonde, non-American woman just isn't Zeb's style.
The Natural Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Just watched Sheamus vs. Bad News Barrett. Great match. I thought this was better than the match they had last month on the 21st of April RAW and I liked that match, still do. This felt like the biggest secondary champion vs. secondary champion match in a while. Added bonus, Paul Heyman on commentary.
MGFanJay Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Sheamus-Barrett was the best part of an otherwise blah show. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2014/05/wwe-sd-5-30-14.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/jrtrv71vbkc3l4qiclrw1un2r17aocj8
Spontaneous Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I liked Barrett-Sheamus and Uso-Wyatt. It's Smackdown so two good matches heading into a PPV is OK in my book. I'm still spent from Takeover so this was a fine chaser for that.
Patrick B. Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Spotted a couple of indy wrestlers I knew among the Rosebuds: Raphael King was the taller black guy dressed as Elvis and Devyn Nicole(current Women's Champion of Harley Race's WLW) was one of the ladies. They were with the group on Raw as well.
Curt McGirt Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Barrett/Sheamus was a huge letdown. Barrett got nothing aside from during the break, didn't look half as stiff as Sheamus, basically it just came off poorly. If they had worked more even like Sheamus/Cesaro (with Barrett laying it in) it would have worked but no. I think the booking fucked it because Sheamus had to stand tall. These are two ass-stompers, don't let one of them whiff on his shit and look like a pansy, LET THEM FIGHT. Uso/Wyatt was a better match all around. If the Last Man Standing gets over bigtime then give it to some combination of Sheamus/Cesaro/Barrett in the future (and please, no three-way) because that seems like a gimmick handmade for those hosses.
Go2Sleep Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Cesaro/Kofi was the sleeper match of the week, and probably the last month. Really tight match that conveyed a simple story with just a couple big spots and good execution all around. These two used to be equals, now Cesaro has moved up and Kofi can't go toe to toe with him any more. This was established by Cesaro stuffing a simple arm drag and turning it into an Irish curse. Kofi had to stick and move and go deep into the bag of tricks. I loved the spot where Kofi hit the springboard dropkick out of the corner. I can't really explain it, but it totally looked like Cesaro was expecting a crossbody and was legitimately surprised by the dropkick (which made the finish even sweeter). The spinning thrust kick was a good stun move/hope spot for Kofi, but when he went back to the crossbody, BAM, euro-uppercut KO, which actually got the pin as it should.
ebbie Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Barrett/Sheamus was a huge letdown. These are two ass-stompers, don't let one of them whiff on his shit and look like a pansy, LET THEM FIGHT. I agree with this. It didn't help that it was more about Heyman on commentary than it was about champion vs champion. Poor Wade. They managed to kill his momentum dead, again, to push RVD and another feud.
Sky Blue Sam Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 It says a lot about how good at being obnoxious Bo Dallas is, when he faced the wrestler I find most smug, irritating and pointless in the company and I actually thought "Hey, Xavier Woods looks pretty good in this match".
bucky Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Between the Shield & Barrett getting thrown into programs with the most boring old fucks imaginable and Bryan's absence due to the injury, these shows are just impossible to sit through anymore. I gave up during Rose/Swagger and started watching more of the short CMLL spotfests from the past month. Who is still enjoying this stuff? What kind of person is actually excited for Payback?
Go2Sleep Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 What kind of person is actually excited for Payback? WWE fans? It looks like a decent show all things considered. Shield/Evolution 1 was pretty good and a no holds barred is much better environement for these 6. Cena pretty much always delivers in LMS. Cesaro and Sheamus finally get a decisive showdown. Paige/Fox and Big E/Rusev are total wildcard matches. I mean, yeah, it's a throwaway ppv, but it's hardly a dire-looking card. 1
bucky Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I consider myself a WWE fan, I'm just bored with it. I can't be the only one who is totally bored with this (excepting maybe Cesaro/Sheamus and whatever is going on with Alicia Fox) and I'm just curious since I haven't seen many people mentioning similar feelings. Maybe I'm way off. 2
