Hokuto in Winter Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I presume barrett losing the linear title will be a talking point on next observer radio show. May 29 Observer Radio - discussed. I consider myself a WWE fan, I'm just bored with it. I can't be the only one who is totally bored with this (excepting maybe Cesaro/Sheamus and whatever is going on with Alicia Fox) and I'm just curious since I haven't seen many people mentioning similar feelings. Maybe I'm way off. Nope, interest levels falling like a stone ever since the 10 year high of the post 'mania Raw.
Spontaneous Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Eh, the feuds are pretty lifeless but Cena has said previously, always delivers in LMS and Shield-Evolution II will be good. If Barrett loses I'll be annoyed but I think he wins and Cesaro should beat Sheamus to build to him winning MITB. I'm not excited but I think the main roster will be motivated to not get upstaged by NXT, so I have hope. Plus I don't know where to find CMLL online.
OSJ Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 My wife and I were both completely underwhelmed by Barrett/Sheamus (which we'd been looking forward to all week). Both guys just seemed off and they usually bring it. We both said "Why the hell give Barrett the belt and then have him lose every match?" They rebuild him as a total badass to take the title and just like a light switch, he starts a losing spiral into meaninglessness. Do they not understand what they have with this guy? He's convincing as hell in the ring, absolutely great on the mic, (I can't think of too many guys that do "smug heel who can go" better than Barrett). We were also less than impressed with the Uso/Bray match. Oh, and exactly what the hell kind of pin was that Rose used? You want us to buy that a guy half Swagger's size can hold him down for a three-count with that? Please. At least The One Armed Swordsman was on Del Rey afterwards which did more than save the evening. I do love me some Jimmy Wang Yu, even if he does have an odd fetish about playing one-armed guys. 1
Joe Fixit Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 ...Barrett lost one match to another champion. What other matches has he lost in 2014?
Curt McGirt Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I will say, Heyman did get in the one good line to JBL about how shitty it was to have Vince yelling in his ear for a job. It was coded and sly but you knew exactly what he meant.
Curt McGirt Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Cesaro/Kofi was the sleeper match of the week, and probably the last month. Really tight match that conveyed a simple story with just a couple big spots and good execution all around. These two used to be equals, now Cesaro has moved up and Kofi can't go toe to toe with him any more. This was established by Cesaro stuffing a simple arm drag and turning it into an Irish curse. Kofi had to stick and move and go deep into the bag of tricks. I loved the spot where Kofi hit the springboard dropkick out of the corner. I can't really explain it, but it totally looked like Cesaro was expecting a crossbody and was legitimately surprised by the dropkick (which made the finish even sweeter). The spinning thrust kick was a good stun move/hope spot for Kofi, but when he went back to the crossbody, BAM, euro-uppercut KO, which actually got the pin as it should. When the Kofi match is better than the Champion v Champion match there is a problem
ebbie Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 ...Barrett lost one match to another champion. What other matches has he lost in 2014? It wasn't that he lost. It was that the match felt like a way too long squash to me. A lot of people have been talking about the shows losing momentum, and Wade has lost the most. When he won the title, it looked like he was geared for a face turn. But between a boring ass RVD to barely being on the show (especially the England shows when he is probably one of the bigger draws for that market), it's just kinda disappointing that they dwindled him again. But not surprising.
MORELOCK Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Crowds cheering in certain cities doesn't mean Barrett is anywhere near a face turn. And yeah, if Rose's finisher is dependent on the opponent holding their legs up in the air like an idiot I can go ahead and confirm that he's my least favorite wrestler on the roster. The Cobra is more convincing.
Spontaneous Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 No way Adam Rose is still on Raw or Smackdown post-SummerSlam. He should have been an aloof comedy heel if they wanted him to get over on the main roster, as a face versus Swagger, another wasted wrestler, who cares? 2

The Cubsfan blog has downloads and you can watch it live legally on tera.mx or something close to that URL. That wacky leg thingy was the first time Rose won with that move on the main roster - he used the Party Foul cravate facebuster thing before. WHY THE FUCK HE PINNED A FORMER WORLD CHAMPION WITH COMEDY BULLSHIT I have no idea.
mattdangerously Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Because it's Swagger, and no one really cares about him?
