The Great ML Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Oh wow. Never caught that...if that's the case, I wonder if they were playing off of "Mongolian who hates Japanese" then?
Infinit Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 The visual of Khan in all black is quite the striking visual. But I always chuckle when everyone (including the announcers) pops when he removes the hood for every match. Like it's a big surprise lol
Infinit Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 As Khan walked to the ring, the announcer said "black kkk" a few times
cool arrow Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 (edited) Oh, Japan, don't ever change. Edited June 7, 2019 by cool arrow Can't type worth poopies 2
GuerrillaMonsoon Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Think they did a similar gimmick in dying days of WCW (Filthy Animals against either Team Canada or Jarrett and the Harris Nazis?) Early TNA with AMW possibly?
theendcomplete Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 I’m watching the Bunkhouse Stampede 1988 right now. Were they attempting to push the Road Warriors as singles competitors at this time? How was Flair and Hawk built up going into the event?
J.H. Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 (edited) Animal was in the Bunkhouse Stampede finals with Dusty. Hawk came up on the WCW Chore Wheel that month. James Edited June 11, 2019 by J.H.
BloodyChamp Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 They were 6 Man Champs and the other 2 were obviously in the Stampede. The Killer Kahn thing above has my attention. I’m not sure about the Clash question that was unanswered but I would bet the answer is yes for a few obvious reasons.
BloodyChamp Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Which promo thread does THIS belong in lol https://youtu.be/p8Vg5NL_eoQ
Nice Guy Eddie Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 1 hour ago, BloodyChamp said: Which promo thread does THIS belong in lol https://youtu.be/p8Vg5NL_eoQ Both. If didn't have the racial element to it, I'd probably call it an all-time classic.
BloodyChamp Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 I didn’t like it at all. I don’t mind racism in works anymore than I do in movies, which are also works. If I did, the contrived, cheap execution of these promos would still be the worst part lol!
Infinit Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 What, pray tell, did you guys find so "racist"? The "drive by" reference?
grilledcheese Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 I don't quite understand the idea of the Horsemen being all "anti-gang" anyway. All they ever did was rat pack guys in parking lots and backstage and shit. They were a fucking gang! You can't join a gang and then complain about gangs existing! 1
Infinit Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 And they used the "send one of ours to the hospital, we send one of yours to thr morgue" line countless times. 3
BurningBeard Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 So, how different do you think AJPW main event scene would have been in the 90s if Tenryu hadn't left? The pushing of Kawada and Misawa in particular was hastened by the departure and Tsuruta's ill health, so do you think Misawa is never crowned as the ace the way he was? Is Tenryu king of the mountain throughout the decade?
Ryan Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 By being exactly what they claimed not to be, wasn't that just the Horsemen being normal heels? We do things civilized, here! *beats a man with a baseball bat until he's dead in an alley for squealing*

Wyld Samurai Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Why was Flair vs Race at Starrcade set in a cage?

Pretty heavy duty shit in the build with the Race bounty and Ace Orton and Dick Slater collecting with the spike piledriver, causing the "retirement" of Flair before his comeback. Pretty sufficient hatred levels to get us to the cage stipulation. 1 1
tbarrie Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Random question: what did John Tenta do before WWF? I don't remember the chain of thought that led to it, but it recently occurred to me that I don't know anything about his career before he became Earthquake.

Transitioned from sumo to All Japan in 87, did some NWA Vancouver tours, signed to WWF. 1

Also gave us some good promos from Race where he was outraged at them putting the World's Heavyweight WRESTLING champion in a cage. 2
