just drew Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Sarah Stock done with AEW. There is a rumor that she is pushing female AEW talent to sign with WWE when they become available. IDK if it's true or not, but it's come up in more than one place now. 1 2
Peck Posted April 19 Posted April 19 How is the Accountant 2 hitting theaters before it hits TNT as an AEW lead-in?? Blasphemous. 4

If that's the case, TK needed to have Stock have a match against Toni Storm with Stock bleeding buckets like the Beuhlah/Fonzie match when it was thought Fonzie was the mole pushing talent towards WCW. That's one of the best ECW matches ever. One of the best examples of "How the hell did this turn out great"? 3

Curt McGirt Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I bet Harley was fucking hilarious at karaoke after getting a couple in him. You know it had to have happened in Japan sometime. 2

TheVileOne Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I am disappointed about Mariah May leaving, but AEW failed when they made her champion and basically made her an afterthought until Toni Storm returned to resume their feud. There was literally nothing memorable or exciting about her title reign. You can see why, with what's happening with Giulia, Roxanne Perez, Stephanie Vaquer, Tiffany Stratton, Lyra Valkyria, etc., why WWE is the more attractive option right now. A recurring problem I see with Tony Khan is that he might have the destination planned out, but he can't really figure out what's next for a talent after a huge win or a huge loss. Some guys will just vanish without a trace after losing on TV. He needs to craft better aftermath and follow-ups. 3
Craig H Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Or, you know, she served her purpose, lived out a two year long feud that was one of AEW's bests, was champion, Toni returned, worked her way back up, did her reveal that it was an act once the match was setup, reclaimed the title, Mariah went crazy, and then they had an awesome blowoff. Toni is the bigger star, hell, there are more than enough women on the roster to make it to that top spot, and Mariah's time in AEW is over and she can now explore the next step of her career...where there are decent odds she'll be lost in the shuffle, stay in NXT for a year or two, but at least she probably won't be treated with the same disrespect they treated Bayley with. 1
Niners Fan in CT Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Aside from Stephanie who is destined for stardom (no pun intended) I don't see how anyone can say Lyra, Roxanne etc. are "going to be better off" in WWE. Talk to me in like 2 years and we'll see what they are doing with them Lol. 3
HarryArchieGus Posted April 24 Posted April 24 (edited) Great news! Quote AEW is co-producing two tribute shows starting next month. On the Way of the Blade, Tony Khan & podcast host Phil Schneider announced that AEW would co-produce two tribute shows in honor of Dean Rasmussen from the DVDVR website, who passed away in 2023. AEW talent will work both shows, and according to Khan, the plan is to stream the shows on ROH’s YouTube channel. DEAN~! 2 will be held on May 24, one night before AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view and will be a free outdoor show outside Scottsdale Arena. DEAN~! 3 will take place in September and will be affiliated with the ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, which was announced for September 5. Talent announced for the upcoming shows include Gringo Loco and Mad Dog Connelly, who took part in the first event. (F4Wonline) EDIT: Oops, already a thread. https://deathvalleydriver.com/forum/index.php?/topic/11323-aew-to-co-produce-two-dean-tribute-shows/ In my defence - it's uh not the easiest board to navigate. So? Rusev went undefeated for a year, got a tank entrance at Mania and a match with John Cena. After that..... it wasn't long before he was completely dead. That's just one example. We are talking about a company that just had Lashley sitting home for months because they had "nothing for him" all the while he's still very over. Meanwhile, acts that aren't over at all receive constant TV time and repackaging. In some ways WWE is different, in other ways they are very much the same. A year from now Roxanne could be sitting in catering with Shayna or someone else they used to "push" 1 1

A year from now Roxanne could be sitting in catering with Shayna or someone else they used to "push" So, so what? Mariah May isn't getting booked on TV at all right now. Rusev went to AEW, and they pushed him for about a year, and then they would barely use him on TV as well. So, I'd say those are bad examples. So, Roxanne and Lyra are doing very well right now. Maybe that will change in a couple of years, but they've been progressed nicely from where they were in NXT two years ago. Not to mention, even if they are gone from WWE two years from now, the body of work they've built across NXT and WWE will help them stay well compensated for decades to come. Yeah, a year from now, Roxanne Perez could be sitting in catering or released, but that doesn't make WWE less attractive to someone like Mariah May, who AEW refuses to use right now.
Niners Fan in CT Posted April 24 Posted April 24 We don't know what's going on with Mariah... When Ricky Starks was sitting on the sidelines it was clear that he probably told Tony Khan he was leaving. It was the worst kept secret in wrestling. Starks was definitely going to join Cody. Mariah could be in a similar situation. If her contract is coming up and she hasn't committed then why use her? You don't push people who could be leaving in a month or two. So either you take her off TV or you have her put other talent over. 4

If this is supposed to be an example of AEW not following through on keeping people hot, probably try again. Rusev was figured in, then he started turning down booking ideas. Right or wrong, it’s been proven that TK doesn’t put up with that. 7
The Natural Posted April 25 Author Posted April 25 Tony Khan told the Way of the Blade podcast that he talks to Bryan Danielson nearly every day: "I still work with Bryan Danielson. He’s still a big part of my office. He’s not on the show, and he’s been injured and maybe retired for good, but he’s never said he’s done for good, and I hope that there’s some possibility he will be able to return to wrestling from the injuries and the way he left, but he’s still a part of AEW, so I’m still very fortunate to work with Bryan. I talk to Bryan almost every day. He’s got a great mind for wrestling, and he’s somebody that I’m really pleased and blessed came into AEW and got involved with us. He’s a great person in and out of the ring, and he’s a great leader in AEW." 7
