Is Lio Rush under contract to NJPW or AEW (or neither)? Because his gimmick when he was put with Lashley (in WWE) was horrible and they deserve the opportunity to redeem it. Now, why you would sign a guy who had the talent and charisma that Lio Rush does, and then make him into a manager I don't know. Let alone taking a guy who is effortlessly cool, charismatic and sympathetic, and make him an annoying little git who runs away from the first sign of danger. Lio Rush is currently doing a demonic possession gimmick in the indys. I'd be down for Lee Moriarty in that spot, I'd be down for Lashley and Shelton being brought in in a tag team

The overly talented Beast is sadly going to be stuck in the 'wimp/scrub/jobber/enhancement role' as long as he has his current goofy presentation. I'm not saying I'm not amused by it, or hate it, but what is he - a Power Ranger villain? 3 hours ago, StuntmanCrowley said: The booking of Hobbs has been such a major letdown and misstep for AEW. He and Fletcher were pretty outstanding in the couple tags they did together. Maybe throw Davis in the mix and make Aussie Open Freebird rules. Whatever the case, I do think Hobbs is better complimented by a partner than in singles. As a singles he's missing a certain something. As for the poor booking, I hold out hope that AEW eventually sees the error of their ways with keeping big guys in a position where they work squashes until their losses - see Hobbs, Archer, Wardy, etc. 'In Action' has worked to make Will seem bland. He's not a Squash Artist. Not like Joe. Edited July 24 by HarryArchieGus

The Natural
Tony Khan: “I would say three great matches to watch in this company that I think are must-watch matches, there are so many great ones… I think the Bryan Danielson-MJF Iron Man match at Revolution (2023) would be among the very, very top. I also think that the Young Bucks vs. Kenny Omega & Hangman Page at Revolution 2020 would be among the top. There are so many great, bloody brawls, Lights Out matches… I think Dr. Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa is certainly a fantastic one from the St. Patrick’s Day Slam 2021. But honestly, it’s so hard to pick three.” Khan went on to give honorable mention status to two more bouts: “I think Sting’s retirement match would probably be my greatest moment, greatest show that I think we’ve had here, personally, so that would have to be near the top. You know, MJF and Will Ospreay maybe just had the best television match I’ve ever seen last week.” --- My top three: 3. Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson. AEW Dynasty, 21st April 2024. *****. 2. Kenny Omega vs. Bryan Danielson. AEW Grand Slam Dynamite, 22nd September 2021. *****. 1. Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr. AEW WrestleDream, 1st October 2023. *****. Two honourable mentions for the spectacle: Sting/Darby Allin vs. Matthew Jackson/Nicholas Jackson. AEW Revolution, 3rd March 2024. *****. Thunder Rosa vs. Dr. Britt Baker. AEW St. Patrick's Day Slam Dynamite, 17th March 2021. *****.
The Natural
I think I might be the only one who has Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr at AEW WrestleDream 2023 as the best AEW match ever. I love that match with Danielson using his left arm having broken his right, ZSJ goading Danielson to use the right which ZSJ goes to work on, Danielson going into a Regal Plex from the ground which I've never seen before and two running knees putting Sabre Jr down for the three count. The rematch at NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka 2024 was great but I definitely think the AEW WrestleDream 2023 match is the best of the two. A certain person has a large online fan base and they don't seem to be making an impact. Totally get your argument and do not disagree whatsoever, but one key difference is the idea of "striking while the iron is hot." I think if you take the 90 day clause, broken ankle, and months of dancing and cutting promos-uh out of the equation, things might look different. I could be wrong, but I think there's a certain "fresh off their TV" momentum you gotta maintain, and circumstances just simply didn't allow for it there.

Acclaimed getting hot got in the way. Starks and Bill were no substitute - in fact, they were easily the worst tag champions I can recall. Im looking forward to Starks wwe debut. I think a lot of ppl just don’t feel the same need to structure a top list. There’s been far too many matches that I’ve loved to even remember. There were ftr squashes that got me as excited as many more typical main events. The Wheeler Yuta matches with Moxley and Danielson are two other examples of captivating and exceptional matches that don’t register in the polls. Jericho v Andretti is another. Or Miro v Fuego or Brodie Lee and Archer each v Marko Stunt. Further, I don’t think you and I are alone in thinking that Sabre-Danielson was a masterpiece. My hope is that match signals the future of the predominant or ‘house’ style. Edited July 24 by HarryArchieGus
odessasteps
While Lashley is certainly a solid hand, does it really make sense to add in a main-event level worker to an already overcrowded roster, one I dont think has even been someone that moves the dial (I did write needle, but then figured ... ) ? 1

Fully agree, and would absolutely love those guys together but wanted to say: we aaaaaalmost got there with Gates of Agony, I think - but it seems like AEW is more invested in their trio with Cage for whatever reason. I don't know how they'd do it in a way that makes sense, but part of me is curious how they would have fared as babyfaces had they not officially broken up the Mogul Embassy, and continued to have them loosely affiliated with Swerve (doesn't even have to remain a formal faction, it could be something like how the Acclaimed have been recently backing their teammates up on the way to B&G).

In 2015, the BDC formed but Lashley turned them down and feuded with them instead. HIs 2016-17 run was his best IMO. Some of my favorite matches included: vs. Drew Galloway (Slammiversary 2016) vs. James Storm (August 2016 iMPACT for all the titles) vs. EC3 (Bound for Glory 2016) series vs. Eddie Edwards (Destination X 2016, July 2016 Impact Steel Cage Rematch, October 2016 Impact x2, January 2017 Impact 30 min Ironman) vs. Matt Sydal (impact Desination X 2017) Promo-wise, I don't think it's online but the press conference leading up to BFG 2016 was top notch character work for him at the time. I really hoped him and Drew would have done something again in WWE because their TNA stuff was great but I knew Vince wouldn’t ever get behind Lashley and with Hunter well unless Bobby renamed all his moves to be metal references and turned in to an actual metal head he is just not getting behind someone.

Log
While they are physically-imposing, huge dudes, I don't think Bear Country fits that role. They both just seem like nice guys. Now, they could be some big, "aw, shucks!" dudes who can turn it on a wreck fools when provoked, but I don't see them destroying jobbers like the Skyscrapers or SST. 2
HarryArchieGus
Bear Country would no doubt benefit from a long loan to New Japan. The bigger Bear Boulder seems to have a lot of potential, especially at that size, and Bear Bronson has looked very good at times, but their current 'powerlifting analingus enthusiast' comedy act is as bad as anything Brandi Rhodes offered the AEW TV product.
