I thought Roman merged the damn belts?! 😂

That was the following year. So WM 37 in 2021 was their first show with crowds after the pandemic shut down (and I think it was reduced capacity) and they just ran back the same pirate theme in Tampa. That had Lashley (winning the belt off of Miz who used MITB [that he took from Otis] contact on Drew) beating Drew in the opening match on night one to retain. Roman retained the Universal title on night 2 in the main event in the triple threat with Edge and Danielson.

Lashley held the title until Big E cashed in MITB in September who lost to Brock in a 5 way at Day 1 on 01/01/2022, Brock traded the title with Lashley (that was a fun on and off feud) and the titles were unified at WM 38 in Dallas/Fort Worth.

Whew.

I can't post the link right now but Dr. Britt was interrupted at their San Diego Comic Con panel by Mercedes and Kamille (dressed as Poision Ivy and Bane respectively..)

Chaos ensued and Tony Khan officially booked the match for 'All In'

It was a picture of Drew standing with Jack Perry, captioned "It's a real photo, cry us a river."

If that's what I saw on Reddit, it seems to have been deleted? Is this going to be Drew's version or what Adam Page "did" to Phil? 🙄

Reportedly: "The AEW Unified Trios Championship will be unified no more as new ROH Six-Man Champions will be crowned Saturday.

ROH announced during Thursday’s Ring of Honor TV episode that a title eliminator match will take place at Friday’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, with Dustin Rhodes, Ross Von Erich, and Marshall Von Erich facing Dark Order’s John Silver, Alex Reynolds, and Evil Uno, with the winners advancing to Battle of the Belts XI on Saturday to face three members of The Undisputed Kingdom for the ROH Six-Man Tag Team titles."

Not sure on the source. Buddy c&p'd it to me on messanger.

This MIGHT be a minority opinion, but...

IMHO,

That's crazy talk. AEW/ROH have so few titles, and now they want to.start merging? You head down that road and pretty soon 10% of the wrestlers on your roster won't even be holding a title.

OK. Wait. I misunderstood. They are DE-merging.

Phew.

Dodged a bullet there.

(Honestly, I'd be perfectly fine with everyone holding multiple interim title belts ad every single TV  match except AITA and B&G being part of a tournament).

Thanks! I never liked the two world titles to begin with and now I can’t even keep track of them.

To make it even wackier they created a new title post WM 39 which Seth carried until he lost at WM 40.

With that said, I really liked the period with Roman as the only champ, you had the Bloodline causing chaos on both shows as needed and it made them focus on the US title for Raw (and the IC title on SD since Roman wasn't around every week) and really develop that undercard which I think pays off for them in the long run since you now have a pretty good cast of players that you can elevate as needed for title programs.

Getting back on track since this is the AEW forum, I can't believe they're bringing back the ROH 6 man belts. Just have the AEW guys do some ROH tapings. It's not like they're building programs around the titles!

And yet the worst part of it all is Jacked Jameson or whatever, awful in ring and on mic.

Does anybody remember them having a different manager for like a week, maybe on Dark?  They changed their name to Iron Savages but were still in the Bear Country getups.

Edit: it was J.T. Davidson

Bobby was great as a heel. Hell, I'd just take him with Dan Lambert. It would piss off EVERYONE.

EDIT: Reading this thread reminded me of a ton of factions: Hurt Business, Diamond Mine, etc. We should make a list.

Lashley and Dan Lambert were stablemates in Impact. They had a few other ATT MMA fighters hanging around with them, one of whom was a pre-publicity hound Colby Covington. I have seen it theorised that Colby took inspiration for his obnoxious bastard IRL gimmick character from watching the wrestling.

I keep thinking about this quote from Kill Bill with regard to Hangman:

Quote

Revenge is never a straight line. It’s a forest, and like a forest it’s easy to lose your way, to get lost, to forget where you came in

He just wants to get back at Swerve, but now he's getting caught up in beefs with Jarrett and the Elite in general, Okada specifically, due to his actions trying to get Swerve.  It's awesome if that's the intention of the story and not just a happy accident.

This would take some good writing, which may or may not be possible! Would be cooler if it was,  though!

Bryan Danielson has decided that now is the time to apply for a copyright on the phrase "Yes! Yes! Yes!".

Wouldn't it be funny if WWE tried to contest that application and say it was theirs, not his?

they almost certainly will. And with how their "work-for-hire" contracts were written, they usually would win. see: the Dudley Boyz not owning that name, because Raven came up with it when he was under contract to ECW. There's no way that should be happening, but here we are.

But we're getting in to newer territory. How Edge Adam Copeland held onto "Rated R Superstar" i don't know.

Surely you mean trademark? I can't imagine any judge allowing a copyright on "Yes! Yes! Yes!".

Didn’t WWE fail to file to keep the trademark while he was out for all those years? I’d swear I remember reading that he’d trademarked it himself after theirs lapsed.
