It also makes me a little sad we didn't get a year or two of Danielson as champion, but I'm trying to be present and in the moment like our champ would want I'm fucking psyched for 20+ of Danielson/Okada + Ospreay/Ricochet on Wednesday. That's a PPV on free TV and if they can't break a million with that card I don't even know and fuck American wrestling fans (present company excluded) Spoiler: they won’t break a million. 1 2

If you've got a problem with his posts, do what a number of people here (Myself included, though I was a dumbass and peeked at your last couple posts) have done with you, and put him on ignore. And you’ve still yet to defend him or say why he’s right in constantly crapping on Ospreay. Plus he keeps avoiding it. Like it’s so damn hard to have a civilized discussion or even DM me about it. Hate whoever you want but posting it literally multiple times a week is trolling just like Drew would do with the Bucks. Only I think Ospreay is more universally liked including by the naturals own hero who admits he’s the best in the world.
Casey Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Bryan Danielson also thinks Glenn Jacobs is a good guy, so, like, I dunno, wrestlers are fuckin’ stupid I don’t know what to tell you. 3 7 2

Or despite what Steve Austin said on the McMahon documentary CTE is a real thing. That would explain someone thinking Glenn Jacobs is a good person.

I mean, I can't even point to what specifically they've done wrong. But I know I totally bought Okada vs Danielson as a dream match at Forbidden Door last year. Now, I don't see Okada as a threat to Danielson at all. Not really? This Okada was brought in as friends/star player of the heel EVPs so he's going to be a jerk and not do as much. But he's playing around with a new character and working as an "American" so to speak. I figured it would take some time to figure out what exactly he's going to be in AEW. He was never going to just drop in as The Rainmaker and just be big match Okada. He could have just stayed in NJPW to do that. 3

AxB Posted October 1 Posted October 1 There is a belief amongst Japanese Pro Wrestlers, that if you're booked to wrestle on American TV, those fans don't appreciate good matches, so you should just half-ass it in the ring and rely on just doing your couple of spots that are over. Like how when Kobashi came over for the Joe match in ROH, and he was expecting to work like a stereotypical 80s heel foreigner. Was looking around backstage for who had the Sumo salt bucket. Okada is trying a lot harder than Nakamura has been doing these last few years, I'll say that. 1

Two things: 1) Just because someone has a different opinion than you does not mean they are trolling. Natural may be insistent on his preferences, in favor or against, but just because it annoys you does not mean it's a troll post. 2) Just because you asked a question does not mean you're entitled to an answer. If Natural (or Log, or whoever) doesn't want to answer your question, that's their prerogative. Making multiple posts insisting on an answer or a discussion is textbook sealioning. Natural has been very transparent about who he likes and who he doesn't, and he posts in the same exact manner about what he likes. If that upsets you, do what Log suggested and ignore him. 3 3

Now, I don't see Okada as a threat to Danielson at all. I would agree that Okada isn't winning the title, but I'm not so tied to the finish. I have a suspicion that Okada-Danielson 3 will be their best. I don't think it's a stretch to expect nothing short of magic. Further, a look at Okada's AEW reel would reveal a pretty outstanding set of highlights in and out of the ring. I do see the 'Another' sentiment tho. It can be accumulated as fast as: an inevitably forgettable (if perfectly fine for television) first fall 4 Way on the last 5 plus hour PPV, an excellent match with Claudio - maybe forgotten because of it's draw finish and the PPV days later, and lastly an underrated Grand Slam match against freezing cold Sammy regulated to Collision. I think Okada is also in a semi-TK holding pod awaiting an Omega return. The timing on the inevitable Takeshita match feels very slow, but it will be magical. 1

Go2Sleep Posted October 2 Posted October 2 16 hours ago, tbarrie said: I don't like saying it, but does anybody else think AEW has "Just Another Guy"ed Okada? No. He's very protected and still gets the core audience's ears to perk up when he's announced for a match. He could win the title tomorrow and it wouldn't feel out of place. He benefits from everyone knowing that he can turn in a "NJ Okada" performance on demand so he has time to play around with his character work and broaden his appeal to new fans. There's a difference between getting used to seeing him every week in regular old tv matches (like Omega, Danielson, and Ospreay before him) and him being just another guy. Jay White has gone way farther down that hole than Okada, and Jay could still be rehabbed easily. 3

Just gonna "ackshully" you on gish gallop, for the sake of clarity: "The Gish gallop is a rhetorical technique in which a person in a debate attempts to overwhelm an opponent by presenting an excessive number of arguments, with no regard for their accuracy or strength, with a rapidity that makes it impossible for the opponent to address them in the time available." ...but absolutely what certain politicians and talking heads/pundits do! 1
SirFozzie Posted October 2 Posted October 2 At first I was going to say "What (Politiician Name) does when asked about anything., they just go from wild line to wild line and five minutes later they stop talking and they never answered the question" 1
Shartnado Posted October 2 Posted October 2 At the risk of sounding certain way, and I must point out that I'm in no way being serious, BUT: We are about to enter a wrestling era where Big Show, Mark Henry and Statnam Singh are announcers and Adam Cole and The Young Bucks... well, are not! 3

That's totally fair - really as a bigger fan of Hobbs' than Wardlow's, I can't disagree with your logic. 7 hours ago, Ace said: Wardlow just ain't it. Its just frustrating as fuck because you're right, he really isn't - but dammit if he wasn't close for a period. Idk if he's quite as "rehabbable" as like a Jay White or some of the others mentioned, but I feel like it's at least worth a shot given the initial investment - though it's possible i'm falling into a "sunken cost" thing here This is going back a bit, but I think the whole "MJF plane ticket weekend" thing really took away from what should've been a much bigger, much more cathartic moment for his character. I'm not certain about this, because obviously both guys were hurt almost immediately after, but I felt that the pairing with Adam Cole and his guys might've been a bit of an attempt to recapture some of that down the line 2
