elizium
The only part I didn't like was the all too convenient cave drawings. The only way that scene gets redeemed is if we get a flashback of Jon and Davos up all night carving them. J: Davos, that doesn't look anything like a white walker?! D: Dammit Jon Snow, you try carving with these bloody stumpy fingers! J: Fine, fine. I'll draw the people, you just draw some squiggly circles or something... 3

It was smithed by Mikken, the blacksmith of Winterfell with castle forged steel. Now the dagger is another story. And she ended the training session with that dagger in striking distance of Brienne's throat. One slip in the snow and there goes Brienne's aorta. Valyrian Steel is for go, not for show, and Brienne should've WTFed at Arya even having it on her for what was supposed to be practice. You don't use magic heirlooms for practice. Even Needle is some b.s. in that fight because it's live steel vs Brienne using obvious blunted/practice sword. That's Arya not giving a fuck if she potatoes Brienne and that doesn't jive with the respect she expresses for Brienne in that scene.
MarcosLoura
Arya being little miss bad ass was some eye rolling bullshit. "Dothraki attack the Convoy" was a great action sequence, after last season's battle that everyone went wild for except me, this shit felt good. StuntmanCrowley
I'm in the middle of the road ont he Arya sequence. On one hand it was cool to see someone take Arya seriously in the way that Brienne did mid-"session", on the other hand, i definitely missed a lot of the part where she became a master of footwork when just last season The Waif was wiping the floor with her. Such a super fun episode. Bronn was the MVP and while I don't think Jamie is dead, i do think Bronn(if he is the one to save Jamie) might be toast. Craig H
Just, the biggest fucking smile plastered on my face for so much of that episode, counteracted by stressing the fuck out over Drogon being in danger and not wanting bronn and Jamie to die. BRONN AND JAMIE, JOIN DANY. IT WILL GO MUCH BETTER. K THANKS.

piranesi
That picture made me realize that I'm excited about a Tyrion/Bronn reunion way more than a Tyrion/Jaime reunion.

Craig H
I don't think anyone complained that the season started slow. I think people mainly talked about how quickly the season was moving.
J.T.
No one here did, but there have been a lot of snyde comments online about how this season started off with a slow burn just like last season. Seems they forgot how awesomely last season ended and this season is on track to conclude just as spectacularly.
tigertooth
I also thought that for all they've done to build up Brienne as a badass, it did more to bring her down than put Arya over as a sudden ninja. I think they could have done a deal where Arya did better-than-expected at dodging, but not necessarily getting much offense in. Would've pushed Arya without jobbing Brienne as bad. So in the big battle, where were the other dragons? Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the previous episode they established that Dany and her brood are a set. You don't send some dragons off without Dany. I guess maybe they're willing to hang out at Dragonstone, but can't be sent out on a mission without her? I was also a little bummed that Dany came in perpendicular to the shield wall rather than attacking at a 90 degree angle so Drogon could hit one strafing run to light up the entire wall. Dammit, Tyrion, learn how to fight.
Matt D
I had zero problem with the Arya thing.

This was classic overconfident babyface monster vs. small babyface underdog. The monster takes the underdog lightly (BoT looks amused at first and doesn't go that hard), the underdog uses their speed to their advantage (Ninja Arya), monster gets semi-serious (BoT finally putting some weight behind her strikes, forcing Arya to drop Needle) and the underdog survives when the time limit draw occurs (BoT has sword to Arya's face just as Arya gets Catspaw at BoT's neck). As long as BoT gets to smash some White Walkers or Lannister men in the upcoming episodes she'll be fine.

Yes, they broke the record for most people on fire while filming. There is video of it somewhere too.

It ain't happening, everybody knows it ain't happening, so nobody's really hurt by it not happening. Winter is Coming has given way to Winter is Here, and that means the Starks are in their element and it's time for their enemies to at last reap the whirlwind.
