Andrew POE!
I'm on episode 2 of Tales from the Borderlands. It's just not grabbing me for some reason. I may be getting sick of the Telltale gimmick. Tales from the Borderlands gets better by the end of the game. With that intro to Episode 2, I don't see how it doesn't grab you. And I'm done with Episode 2 of GoT and I hate everything in it. Apparently the whole point of Game of Thrones is so that the good guys get fucked each and every time. Fuck that shit. That's not good writing, that's just a cop-out to show 'shades of grey.' It gets much worse. Well, George R.R. Martin can't write worth a damn then. People give him money so he can write his terrible books and grow his neckbeard. Have the good guys kick some ass, ok? If I wrote Game of Thrones fanfiction, I would have time travel and one of the families (Starks or something) find Tony Stark and he builds a fuckin' atomic bomb and drop it on Roose Balton's house. What are they going to do then? Fight the Starks with swords? He didn't write the game. Are you playing the game without having read the books or seen the show? That's not too clever. I know he didn't write the game, but he did make the universe for the series. I watched maybe one or two episodes (probably the infamous "red wedding" episode or that one where the little girl finds the dragon or something) and I tried to read the first book. I couldn't make it past one chapter -- it was about as boring as reading an IRS tax booklet and maybe just as exciting. But what I can tell from looking at wikis for the series: 1) The good guys are fucked over each and every time. 2) The bad guys (and the writer) takes immense joy in screwing over the good guys. They get no comeuppance from the good guys at all. 3) Every single good guy character dies. Ned Stark dies. Jon Snow died in season 4 (maybe 5? I don't know I don't watch the show). What's the point of watching/reading if the author is doing this? Eventually, you have no attachment to any character, which is the sign of terrible writing. It's like watching the WWE where Vince McMahon prevents Stone Cold from getting his revenge. Eventually, the fans will wait for their "fuck yeah" moment and it becomes a "fuck you" moment and they throw trash into the ring. George R.R. Martin is Vince McMahon, cackling over you paying him money so he can string his audience along. You want a sixth book?

Death From Above
I have to be honest I found the books very tiresome after a while. Too many times you decide you like a character and then they just die, it's not fun after like the 20th time. Really enjoyed the first three up until the ending of it, after that it was just a slog to me. Great fantasy world, lots of good ideas, for that matter lots of great characters (including a couple I really didn't like in book one that he turns around into being very interesting), but it reads like a series that got bigger than he ever really intended so he had to stretch it out further than designed to me. Like, I actually feel GoT's fame worked against it being a better book series than it would have been if it had been a cult thing. There's more good than bad, but I'm not really stoked for the series to carry on.
Lamp, broken circa 1988
so let's talk about some games INVISIBLE INC- my god I want to like this, but my emotional disposition is -entirely- wrong for this kind of game. I do not handle mistakes terribly gracefully, so the kinds of video games I enjoy are ones where mistakes feel big, but can be dropped for a new beginning. this is a game where if you make a mistake you must marinate in the Mistake Musk so that you may fit in with the rest of the Mistake Herd, or else you'll lose all of your funding for Mistake Study. I would embezzle this research grant money. It's EXCEPTIONALLY well made, and that's why I want to like it. I just can't make it to the end of this game without, like, being a hollowed out non-person by the finale. Playing Invisible Inc has had one nice benefit, as I've gone back to... GUNPOINT- ...which is starting to become vogue as a type of game to stylistically jack from. There was Ronin last year, and now the new game from the Risk Of Rain team looks more than a little bit like it, although focusing on Hell Of Guns And Blood. Anyways. Gunpoint is a fucking well-machined razor of a game. Everyone should play Gunpoint at some point (heh!). DESTINY- I recently started regularly clearing 2.0 KDA in Crucible matches and winning or finishing second in Rumbles. So that feels pretty good. Stormcaller Warlock, light295, Hand Cannon (Byronic Hero w/ explosive rounds and quick targeting), Invective shotgun, and the FWC Machine Gun as my heavy. Preferred exotic armor is the Claws of Ahamkara so I tend to favor a high strength build to keep the two banks of Thunderstrike full. My only gear goal these days is this ship or one like it. NEON STRUCT- Deus Ex Blows. ... okay now that the first wave of "wtf" has, passed, I'll explain. The part of Deus Ex that is actually cool and memorable is exploring the world and talking to people and sneaking around illicit places. The part of Deus Ex that blows is fighting. It's horrible. It's worse than a bad job. It's worse than several bad jobs. Neon Struct agrees with me. Neon Struct is the part of Deus Ex that's super cool without the part that wants me to redo all the filing. I will have more to say about it the further I get into it. PUZZLE & DRAGONS MARIO WHATEVER ITS CALLED- I needed a puzzle game to play before I go to bed, because it's the easiest way to turn my brain power to abstract things instead of, well, anxiety things. So. For that, Puzzle and Dragons is amazing. There's a really huge wall to climb before the game starts making sense, but once it does there's really something there. It turns from a match 3 game to a maze game. Also there's RPG elements. I made a mistake and made someone in my party obscenely fucking powerful despite him being the complete wrong element for the zone I'm in. PANDEMIC LEGACY IS NOT A VIDEO GAME IT'S A BOARD GAME BUT I STILL WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT BEFORE I FORGET- it's good. it's so good that it makes me mad. it's so good that it makes me scream and cry and all that emotion stuff. i want more board games to be like this. I want a lot of video games to be like this. I want a lot of my life to be like this.

Raziel
So, since it was on the essensials sale, I went and picked up Final Fantasy VII and went to give it a play through. After a few hours, I stopped and fired up Final Fantasy IX and am replaying that instead. I realize how important VII was to the overall RPG landscape, but shit is IX a superior game in every single way.

SirSmUgly
Steamworld Dig is a really fun little game with solid exploration. I wish that there were more to the combat, but even so, the moments where a TNT barrel sets off a chain reaction that ends with lots of things/people getting crushed as I try to scramble away from the commotion are more than worth it. I might have to give Steamworld Heist a try.

AxB
Finished Sleeping Dogs... how do you get level 10 in Triad level? I've got all the moves, all the cop upgrades, all the Health Shrines, all but two lockboxes, 17 races... need to win a bunch gambling and steal a bunch of cars, buy a bunch of cars, buy a bunch of clothes, that's all routine, but I'm level 9 Triad and don't seem to get any more Triad points no matter what I do. Raziel
I think you have to do some replays and get near max on most missions to get it. I think. I never ended up maxing all my levels. Neil's records taunting me made me give up.
Cliff Hanger
Yeah, the only way to max out Triad is to go back and replay missions you only got 1 or 2 triangles on and do better. It sucks. If there's a sequel, I hope they'll give random triad side jobs.
Neil Koch
IIRC I did it by replaying the hospital shootout level and stringing together a bunch of the fancier gun kills to get more triad points.
