I havent watched Collision in like six months, but I liked Nigel as a heel commentator. My biggest issue was that he was like 60% too horny, but I grew up with Jerry Lawler so my tolerance is pretty high in that respect.

Yeah AEW does a commentary rotation. I'd be surprised if the main wasn't X, Tony, & JR. I personally don't mind the Nigel stuff but I think yall are out of your minds if you think Nigel plays even one iota of a part in the match.

I'm more interested in changing the conversation to who you guys think will be surprises in the Gauntlet. I think Ricochet is a lock. Mox too. Thinking Okada as well. Think Shane or Bobby Lashley would be fun ass moments, but not very likely. Wish Omega was healthy enough because that pop would be massive.

Can you picture the end to the show tomorrow if Danielson wins the big one only to hear the coin drop, and Okada cashes in? It would technically save Bryan’s career, but it would also further the Elite takeover storyline too.

You have to have Kazuchika Okada on the card and I think it'll be here. Great shout on Zack Sabre Jr. I think Minoru Suzuki is a lock also. Hope Claudio Castagnoli makes it. Surely Nigel McGuinness won't be here and don't call me Shirley!

Is the casino gauntlet actually for their MITB-equivalent chip? I thought it was just for an unspecified "future title shot" which would likely be at All Out.

• The Young Bucks vs. FTR vs. The Acclaimed. Sucks to say as a FTR fan and I can't stand the Bucks.
• Jack Perry vs. Darby Allin. Really like Allin but can't stand Perry.

Mostly stoked for this show, even with the excessive multi-man/team matches which will probably be fine but definitely not my preference. Mercedes vs Britt should be good but I also fear they might have a rough one. Glad there's a Jericho match so I can go make wings.

I don't think the Gauntlet will have the level of surprises some predicted earlier, I think they will have *one* surprise big debut or re-debut but its too goofy of a match to waste major surprises on. Between Ricochet, Mox, or Lashley I can see maybe one of those popping in but no more than that. Sabre and Hechicero are good guesses though as they'd be a surprise without overshadowing the match. Doesn't mean others won't show up on some other part of the show even if its an interview segment or someone does an open challenge and they come out. I'm not a huge fan of the Gauntlet match format and I just think its not the best way to make a major debut as it would quickly get lost in the shuffle.

Anyway, Adam Page is winning it unless he brawls into the crowd with Okada instead, setting up Page/Okada for All Out.

It would be a waste if his first big high spot was botched ala Matt Sydal. Or if he were pinned/submitted/loser-of-the-decision. Riccchet coming in and doing a couple spectacular spots before disappearning into a brawl, maybe first opponent/rival, in front of their largest crowd of the year might not be any kind of waste.

Damn, I know they used the MITB 'match anytime against the champion' once before for the Christian-Edge feud. I'd hoped it was a one time gimmick and we'd moved on. The sudden match for a title is a lame way to switch the title. It also feels like a distinctinly WWE gimmick tailored for their sports-entertaining universe.

I think we’re getting a cash in on Bryan. It would make sense for multiple reasons. It saves his career. It gives Nigel something to taunt him with (being the shortest reign of any AEW World champion ever), and it would perfectly set up Nigel vs Bryan in Seattle in his final final match.

Plus if they have a big enough name do it then whoever cashes in vs Swerve could headline All Out. 

I know I previously suggested Okada, but what if this whole Conglomeration thing is a swerve, and Statlander and Stokely aren’t alone? Stokely tried getting the belt before with MJF, imagine the heat if Bryan wins and Where Is My Mind hits, and Orange Cassidy turns and gets his run with the belt (which I think he’s as deserving as Darby when you account for merchandise sold and live crowd reactions).

So, in front of 50,000 plus, you take away the big moment to hotshot the title to somebody else? And set-up a match with Nigel in Seattle after bypassing said match in London? Is Shane booking the Main Event via his Dad?

I loved MITB for years because it was like a sneak preview of who the next first time world champion was going to be. The MITB winner almost always cashed in successfully, and at least half the time they were winning a major title for the first time.

What ruined it for me was, when Big E won it and cashed in, finally having someone point out the pattern that it was their way of pushing someone without actually pushing them. 'Here's our guy, he can't beat Bobby Lashley fair and square and will be soundly dismissed by the first real main eventer who crosses his path, but we're throwing you a bone with something fresh until Wrestlemania season starts'.

AEW are always happy to actually push their World Champions, so in that sense it shouldn't be as bad when they do it, but it's still an unnecessary WWE booking crutch and I wish they'd steer well clear of those. Let's keep the mix about 75% New Japan, 20% ECW and 5% WWE.
