Predictions in bold:

Swerve Strickland vs. Bryan Danielson. Heart overruled head.

MJF vs. Will Ospreay.

Timeless Toni Storm vs. Mariah May.

Mercedes Mone vs. Britt Baker.

Casino Gauntlet match. Hangman Adam Page.

The Patriarchy vs. House of Black vs. Bang Bang Gang vs. PACPool Combat Club. Wouldn't be surprised if PACPool Combat Club win.

The Young Bucks vs. FTR vs. The Acclaimed. Can see it been The Acclaimed as well.

Jack Perry vs. Darby Allin.

Chris Jericho vs. HOOK.

Further prediction:

The Natural will be shitting bricks during Swerve Strickland vs. Bryan Danielson.

Those seem like good predictions. And the best part is, I could see every single one of them potentially being wrong. So kudos to AEW for the build to this show.

If I had to pick who I thought was the safest bet, I'd say it was Mariah May over Toni Storm. But even that I wouldn't call a foregone conclusion.

I loved MITB for years because it was like a sneak preview of who the next first time world champion was going to be. The MITB winner almost always cashed in successfully, and at least half the time they were winning a major title for the first time.

What ruined it for me was, when Big E won it and cashed in, finally having someone point out the pattern that it was their way of pushing someone without actually pushing them. 'Here's our guy, he can't beat Bobby Lashley fair and square and will be soundly dismissed by the first real main eventer who crosses his path, but we're throwing you a bone with something fresh until Wrestlemania season starts'.

AEW are always happy to actually push their World Champions, so in that sense it shouldn't be as bad when they do it, but it's still an unnecessary WWE booking crutch and I wish they'd steer well clear of those. Let's keep the mix about 75% New Japan, 20% ECW and 5% WWE.

There's also a TNA% that is always a nuisance - the proliferation of random multi-man matches being a clear example. The end result of a sudden Title match/switch, even if the Champion is supported following it, still begins with this shitty way. Further, disappointingly AEW rarely grants rematches, which would be A thing that might makeshift-bandage this kind of hot shotting scenario. I'm for AEW gleaning many of WWE's fantastic production tricks (at the very least identifying the city with nice drone shots, Mr. Mansury), but taking the gimmicks feels obvious, unnecessary, and totally unsatisfying.

I very easily agree with all, but the Casino. Hangman's on a collision course with Swerve, who will be without a shadow of a doubt (from where I'm sitting): the former Champion after All In, so he doesn't need the shot. I do sense Swerve regains at WrestleDream, but I'm totally with the 'Darby Allin: World Champion' talk.

Thank you and I agree there's a fair few I can see going the opposite way. I think safest bet is May beating Storm. HOOK beating Jericho is the other.

Thanks, man. I can see Danielson/Darby at Grand Slam Dynamite and Danielson vs. Swerve vs. Allin at WrestleDream unless we get Danielson vs an NJPW wrestler again.

I'm Allin on Allin, Damnit Natural! talk of Allin as AEW World Champion.

Sammy and Cage both coming out in Wolverine gear is a classic “Why did nobody talk about this?” AEW moment.

My next thought was that if they had bothered to coordinate, Sammy would’ve made more sense to be Deadpool.

Then I realized DUSTIN was Deadpool to Sammy’s Wolverine, but because they came out at opposite ends of the babyface entrances, the connection didn’t even register with me at first.

What a mess!

Yeah AEW does a commentary rotation. I'd be surprised if the main wasn't X, Tony, & JR. I personally don't mind the Nigel stuff but I think yall are out of your minds if you think Nigel plays even one iota of a part in the match.

I'm more interested in changing the conversation to who you guys think will be surprises in the Gauntlet. I think Ricochet is a lock. Mox too. Thinking Okada as well. Think Shane or Bobby Lashley would be fun ass moments, but not very likely. Wish Omega was healthy enough because that pop would be massive.

Ricochet, Mox, Okada, White are locks, I Think. Hechicero, Sabre Jr, Oku & Dijak are my guess for surprises I think we get like 15 wrestlers in it.

You have to have Kazuchika Okada on the card and I think it'll be here. Great shout on Zack Sabre Jr. I think Minoru Suzuki is a lock also. Hope Claudio Castagnoli makes it. Surely Nigel McGuinness won't be here and don't call me Shirley!

The bolded actually happened!

I legit have tears coming down my cheek. I’m a mark. I grabbed my son who woke up from his nap and picked him up and we spun around to celebrate

This was so good

I’m so excited for the future. One could argue that the lineage of the AEW title has followed a logical story progression from Jericho all the way to Swerve. Now, for the first time, it truly feels like anyone could be up next. Just like Danielson likes it.
