WWE TV - 7/22 - 7/28/2024 - WHEN IT IS TIME TO ZOEY WE WILL ALWAYS ZOEY STARK

Recommended Posts

You, you work all night (all night)! And when you work you don't feel all right!

Last week a bunch more things became clear for SummerSlam.  Rhea and Liv will be fighting for the title (clearly until Dom betrays Rhea).  Cody will take on Solo (clearly until someone big makes his return).  And LA Knight will take on Logan Paul for the US Title (and Paul has already grossly started saying Knight is "Low T", which based on his physique I think would be a medical miracle).

🎼

'Cuz we will never listen to your rules (no)! We will never do as others do (no)!

Next up seems to be the Women's Tag Titles, the IC Belt, and various other sundries.  And hell, even NXT is rocking these days as someone keeps appearing whenever you mention his name!  (Not B**tlejuice either!)

🎶

Let's get a party going (let's get a party going)! When it's time to party we will always party hard!!!! Party hard (party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard...)

Lots of fun stuff planned for this week, but it sounds like someone may be getting cleared pretty soon!

Clobberin' time indeed....

Two weeks til the biggest party in Ohio's history!  Enjoy the week!

Also of note, yesterday, the newz sites were reporting that Bobby Lashley appears to be done with his WWE run.

His contract is almost up and he's by all indications not re-signing.

MVP as well. Breaking up the Hurt Business was so fucking dumb.

It sounds like they’ve got every reason to go.  I’ve seen oodles of news posts over the last year or two of speculation about bringing it back.  So if Shelton or MVP keep “putting it out there” to no response from the company…?

A pity if true but also understandable. I liked the pairing with Street profits. I wish they got to do more together.

I feel bad about Lashley leaving (MVP too) and think he's got some more left in the tank but I can't really argue with the company if they decided that it's not worth spending top guy money and airtime on someone who is 48 years old. I kinda hope Hurt Business finds a way to go out on their own terms as a group elsewhere but the only other place that can pay good money to them to do so would be AEW and again all three of them are pushing 50... it's just a hard argument to make, you know?

Anyways Raw was fine, Ilja losing by ref stoppage is odd enough that I hope he's okay.

I had to say, my favorite part of this version of Judgement Day is Carlito having no idea what to do with himself during their introduction.  AND being startled by their pyro every time.

Gunther's opening promo and later video package were both good. Gunther has done a good job of being a big enough asshole that the crowd is actively behind Priest trying to beat his ass. The brawl after the promo was decent.

Ilja/Bron was pretty darn good as expected though that finish was an interesting choice if. Can't tell if it was legit or not. I do kind of like the idea of WWE doing more referee stoppages.

Lyra/Sonya was solid. Nice to see Sonya get a more drawn out match in and a victory. Curious to when the new group will finally get a proper name.

Nikki's quick vid was fine, but kind of further pushes my worries in that they really showed these Wyatt Sick6 vids in the wrong order by starting with the strongest.

The Punk/Drew/Seth segment was fine. I think Rollins has probably been on hsi best run in WWE the past year, but he really does just feel like a third wheel here even with his involvement making sense. I'd rather see him just saved for Gunther murder in October or even for Survivor Series.

Woods/Tozawa/Otis vs. Final Testament was solid. Was nice to see Tozawa and otis so over and get in some good moments before the end. The post match segment with Gable and the Creeds confronting their former friends was good. As the immediate karma by the Wyatt Sick6.

Zelina/Zoey was pretty decent by the end. Like Lyra and the KCs getting some payback at the end. The later interaction backstage between Sonya's group and  Unholy Union was also nice. I like the connective tissue they are creating within the division right now. Its likely to build up a War games match in November, but if done right it should gradually create interest in the division beyond Liv and Rhea.

Enjoyed all of the Judgement Day hijinks that lead to Dom telling off Liv and the main event. Its clear we are getting Finn and JD turning on the group either during summerslam or the Raw after. Just not sure if Dom joins them or not.

Finn/JD vs. Sami/Jey built into a pretty solid match. Post attack by Bron was expected an fine as a quick dick move.

Nothing bad match wise thought the only strong standout was Bron/Ilja. The rest was decent or solid. Similar deal segment wise with everything being solid, but nothing standout aside from maybe Dom finally telling off Liv. Raw was just fine overall. I liked it for what it was building for Summerslam and the show in general, but I do always hope for more.

I want Lashley to tour New Japan. I've always wanted to see him work a major Puroresu promotion. I'm surprised he never went to NOAH or New Japan while Shelton or MVP was there. I'd like to see Them all in New Japan like the Hurt Business with MVP as the mouth piece. I heard was trying to get back in the ring. He can work tags .

I must say that Liv trying to using "why would a man want to be with someone like you when you can have this (shows ass)" to Rhea Ripley of all people is something.  I am going to assume that booker who wrote that script was in on the joke

Having Dominik stay with Rhea would be a good move if they want to turn him back face but if they want him to be rudo for life then I think the finish of Summerslam has been figured out.

At this point in his career, I only want to see Dominic as a face is saving his dad from being murdered by someone, if it was part of Rey's impending retirement as a main roster competitor.

People find Rhea attractive?

I’m going to be disappointed if Dom doesn’t turn on Rhea at SummerSlam.  Fortunately, I don’t think they’re that dumb. The end of Raw seems obviously designed as a swerve.

I'd say Rhea would certainly appeal to a number of demographics of both sexes, especially once she went from bubbly blonde to her current look. I watched some old Mae Young matches not long ago and I'd forgotten Rhea's old look.

I'm pretty sure that question was rhetorical. Rhea has tons of horny fans all over the spectrum.

Agreed Dom should be a heel until Rey is ready for retirement. Then Dom can do the big save for his dad and maybe earn a Mysterio mask as Rey retires officially. Before then I need Dom vs. Rey, Hair vs. Mask. And maybe Dom to be a dick after losing said match by donning a Black Tiger mask just to fuck with Rey further on the Eddie thing. They can even bring in Chavo or Shaul to manage him.

I assume it is more of a conventionally attractive blonde lady wrestler questioning the sexiness of someone not from that mold but yes, I assume there was a whole arena full of fellas and some ladies who'd be willing to explain it to her.

Opening segment with trick, Cedric, and Ashante was alright. Neither Cedric or Ashante are strong talkers, but this did the job in establishing their characters and setting up Trick/Cedric.

Briggs/Jensen was rough in a mostly good way. The Spears interference was kept to a minimum and worked well in giving Jensen a much needed win. Curious to see if Briggs shows up at all over the next month or if he is gone until the NOAH tournament is done.

Thorpe/King was surprisingly short though both guys felt a lot more on point than usual and worked well together. While the post match means we get more later on I kind of wish they gave some actual time for this first encounter. Felt like this here didn;t really do either guys any favors with the shorter time given their styles aren't particularly flashy.

Oro/Ashanti was decent and a solid showcase for Ashante.

Wren/Bright was another short match with some neat stuff and good potential shown for a longer version when Bright has more experience on her. In the end this was more about the continued drama Wren trying to force her way into the NQCC. This story is amusing though weird since Wren doesn't really fit personality or style wise. Honestly, Grey has a stronger case just for the big throw she did to Myles during the match.

Trick/Cedric was pretty solid though Trick probably gave Cedric a pinch too much given their size differences. Still, this was a good showcase for Cedric and something that establishes him as higher level despite the loss. The post match attack from Dunne was expected. Curious to see how the likely GAB match with Trick goes.

The Chase U segment and Thea interview were both solid and fed into each other nicely. Hopefully Thea/Roxanne gets the main event. Really though it should have been on a PLE outside of the CWC.

Lash/Jakara vs. Sol/Karmen was solid. Was nice to see Jakara get a good amount of time in the ring compared to her usual. Sol and Karmen worked well together and had some neat moves. Was a bit weird not seeing Lash as dominant as she usually is though I kind of liked how easily and hard the end came for Karmen to make up for how earlier parts of the match with her played out. Looking forward to the title match with Unholy Union. It will be good chance for both Lash/Jakara & Alba/Isla to show off in ways they don't always get a chance to do.

All the setup for Oro/Page for the belt throughout the night was well done. Still hard to fully buy into since Oro just doesn't have the charisma Dar has, but hopefully the match goes well for both Page and Oro. The feud itself has been better than expected.

Rascalz vs. Axiom/Frazer/Je'Von was as good as expected with plenty of speed and high flying to go around from all involved. Just curious to see which version of Rascalz go for the titles. Feels like any combination of the three should be a great match regardless.

The main event is the big standout match wise though Briggs/Jensen is certainly worth a watch as well. Segment wise there was less worthwhile though nothing was particularly bad. I'm mostly just happy from a storytelling standpoint with how things continue to build and move forward, be it for Great American Bash or just in general. Solid show overall.
