HarryArchieGus Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 (edited) Dying for a 'Charles Betts is All Elite' banner. Also curious what Penta might look like on a Monday or Friday night. Here's to roster movement! EDIT: Er a Friday night on network television. Edited June 8, 2024 by HarryArchieGus

Curt McGirt Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I'm curious to what AEW would look like if they shipped Penta back to Mexico in a wooden crate 1
zendragon Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 With guys like Ethan Page and Shawn Spears going to the competition I'm reminded to WWF buying WCW. Initially they brought over who they could get Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Kanyon et al. but once the real stars started showing up (Flair, Steiner, NWO, Goldberg ect) those guys started getting phased out
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 https://www.f4wonline.com/news/wwe/report-ricochet-informs-wwe-he-is-leaving-when-contract-expires/ No brainer for AEW obviously. Owns his name too so we won't have to do the "OH MY GOD WE KNOW WHO THAT IT IS.....IT'S....IT'S RECOIL!!!" I still remember when he debuted on RAW, got a massive pop, immediately got over with his offense....then Vince proceeded to almost immediately bury him. Didn't they bring him and Black up as a tag team? 3

Way to get them over, Vince. 1
Go2Sleep Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 I only want AEW to sign Ricochet if they're actually gonna push him. I'd like to see a real program with him and Swerve for the title, but I'm not sure AEW needs another guy to just lose 12 minute matches on Dynamite or Collision every 2-3 weeks. 6
just drew Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Something tells me Ricochet is right there at the top of TK's wish list. Shit, at this point he might BE the wish list. I think he'd be just fine in AEW. The real question is, would he be available in time for Wembley to be the Joker if there's a Casino Battle Royal...
Curt McGirt Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Hey. I just found something for Ricochet to do. Send Penta to be "examined by top men" in that wooden crate and put Ricochet with his brother. There's your spot. 1 1
Kevin Wilson Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 While I think AEW's roster is too big (maybe they will slowly start taking care of that as more contracts come up), Ricochet is a no-brainer if he is interested. I know there is only so much TV time and some wrestlers are going to get get theirs no matter what, but he just fits in too well with AEW not to try to sign him and find a way to use him. I don't know if 'reporters' are intentionally being vague but they keep just saying his contract ends "this summer" which obviously covers a lot of ground. He won't have a non-compete if they just let it expire, maybe its good to have some mystery if he plans on going to AEW so we can at least be a little surprised when he turns up. I hate to beat a dead horse although I haven't said it in awhile so I guess its ok, but I really wish they'd phase out Jericho or give him a Sting-like schedule where he does a program, disappears for a month, does a program, etc. I know when they first launched he was one of their bigger "names" and he probably gets paid the most, but they have so many young talented (and more exciting) wrestlers I'd rather have featured. I don't even mind the Learning Tree gimmick but it taking up 20 minutes every Wednesday is just too much. One of these days, Cole and Page will both come back and have featured feuds, I just don't know how they are going to feed so many mouths with a handful of wrestlers taking up half the time every Wednesday, leaving the rest of the roster fighting over the other hour. 2
AxB Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Ricochet is another guy like Swerve, who would have been a day one signing in 2019 if he'd been available. Most likely they can't wait to have the first Ricochet vs Ospreay match for a nationally televised promotion ASAP (after the original indie series between them did so much for both guys). 4

Casey Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 I doubt Jericho gets paid the most, unless he’s got a Hogan/Hall/Nash contract where he gets bumped up to whatever the current highest contract is. I remember talk of Punk being paid way more than anyone else, and people like Danielson were close behind him. Gotta assume Mox is near the top these days, as well.

I'm just guessing, from the way they talked when he re-upped he also got backstage roles too (creative, producer, and an executive-type role) so I figured they had "sweetened" his original deal to get him to stay as both on-screen and backstage help. Either way I'm guessing he's easily Top 5 and if he does work backstage its probably harder to have him take a month off. Just wishful thinking on my part. 1
Technico Support Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) My irrational worry about Ricochet is that he's past his prime after losing 6 years to WWE. It's irrational because it's based on our experience with Keith Lee, who's been a shell of his former promising self, but Lee has other issues that are hurting him that Ricochet doesn't have. I'm hoping Ricochet will be fine but that's a long time for a guy who works his style. Edited June 10, 2024 by Technico Support
odessasteps Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Couldnt you also say the opposite? Working a probably safer style may have put more time on his bump card than if he was doing crazy matches for the few years? 2

I'm just thinking the body can't do the things at 35 that it could at 29. But you could be right as well.
odessasteps Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 If you're a believer in the whole "age X is now age x-y" theory, his 35 is not the old 35. 1 1

TheVileOne Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Ricochet is 35 but he's still healthy and in good shape. Could be wrong, but I don't recall him dealing with a ton of debilitating injuries the last six years working the WWE schedule either. Not sure if he sees AEW as his next destination. You could definitely do something fun with Ospreay if you want. Arguably both guys have stepped up their overall games since they last wrestled one-on-one. The problem is AEW still has a crowded roster and they could stand to lose a lot more people.
Infinit Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 For all my fellow Canucks, I read that Rogers has gained the rights to WBD content starting January 1st. So AEW content may be moving to Sportsnet and we don't have to deal with the Rampage and Collison on paid apps anymore! Fingers crossed. 1
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 The shows are so much better without commercials though..... speaking of, remember a couple years somebody uploaded an episode of Dynamite with an NJPW wrestler doing commentary (Shingo?). Whatever happened with that?
Zakk_Sabbath Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 PSA for anyone grabbing tickets soon: I got an email from Ticketmaster that you can get 40% off "select seats" with promo code AEWDAD from 6/11-6/17

Idk if you were talking about Mox or Jericho, but it was heavily implied that when Mox signed his extension he got bumped back up to being the highest paid guy in the company but that he took on some of those similar roles you were discussing. IIRC, SRS or one of the other aggregators who might or might not know implied that that's where the rift between Mox and CM Punk started. Mox was the highest paid guy, then Punk came in, then Mox got a bump to get close to/equal to Punk, and so on. IDK if it's true, but Phragile Philliam (excited to pull that out again) strikes me as the type of guy who'd take that as disrespect. 2 1
