Elsalvajeloco
Re: Savage/Piper stipulation. Supposedly, it was because Savage and Piper hated each other so much that Randy demanded a match with him and Piper obliged as the authority figure. However, this is one of the plot points of the nWo splintering that didn't make sense. Savage hates Hogan but not to the point where he won't fake turn on Hogan on two or three separate occasions. However, Savage is willing to team with Piper but doesn't trust him at all. He just wants to take out Hogan. What in the entire hell? All in this is made worse by Piper losing a lot off his fastball when it came to talking. Long gone is the Portland/San Francisco/Los Angeles territory Piper. It's just a guy who can only repeat the same RuPaul and viagra jokes.
SirSmUgly
Okay, so Savage must work on a busted knee through the middle of 1998 before taking time off for surgery and many, many steroid treatments.
Sublime
I honestly forgot Piper even had a WCW run in the late 90s. He should of just stayed away from wrestling after the early 90s (maybe even late 80s) cause all he did was diminish his legacy.

I think once he was done with his program with Hogan directly, that should have been it. Maybe do some stuff with Flair, but anything requiring a long diatribe that he usually went on was a no go.
SirSmUgly
Piper is mad over with those crowds, but yeah, his stick work is all crossdresser this, UR GAY that, with a heaping helping of awkward pop culture references. He had two solid PPV matches with Hogan, but Hogan was the best guy in both matches, IMO. Age in the Cage was the worst of their singles trilogy, and while it wasn't terrible, it was lesser because Hogan had aged enough at that point that he was much more limited than even eight months before. EDIT: I thought Piper's PPV match at BatB '97 with Flair was decent, but again, that was down to Flair. Log
Went to Collision this past week. I kept hearing people just yell out "Yeah!" and then other people would respond. Is this what that LA Knight dude does?
odessasteps
That "Team Piper" is one of the most notoriously bad segments of Nitro history. I bet most of us wish we could forget it.

Just a total slow burning trainwreck of burning kilts.
BloodyChamp
I wasn’t saying that anything Savage lacked in WCW was his fault. It rarely is the wrestler’s fault when talking about a WCW eff up . I agree there was really no plan other than to sign him and have that be his unofficial new gimmick…guy we signed after Hogan. Piper was over for those months before he lost to Hogan at Superbrawl. What followed was what has been discussed. Some really freaking sad stuff lol! I remember him getting real mad and calling Hogan a PIECE OF SNAKE! Haw man I never heard such FILTH! I have no recollection of the reason for that stipulation. Perhaps I don't remember that era of WCW well, but are we perhaps being optimistic in assuming there was a reason? 1

I will never forget going to a Nitro in Philly where he started to do the Pee-Wee Herman dance and sang “I’m too sexy for Dennis Rodman, too sexy for Pee-Wee Herman” about Eric Bischoff and my 15-year-old brain exploding because I had no idea what was going on or why.
