  1. Paul is a good dude and a friend. I’ve been lucky enough to have good conversations with him about life and things outside of wrestling. He is a very kind person and incredibly thoughtful. If his or anyone’s posting style is annoying to you, just put him in ignore. It makes things so much easier, I have a person or two that I found annoying on ignore and it’s made my forum experience much more of a treat. Also, the line about a bunch of people secretly not liking him was pretty low. Even if you felt he hurt you by saying he doesn’t like you, that was fairly callous. If we start hating meme and list posts, I’ll be ostracized and have no where else to turn.

  6. More than 50% of the time when there are new profiles in this community, it ends up being someone from this boards past. This isn't the case, as it is a name change, not a "new" profile per se. Going on a personal vendetta against the most popular name on the board is certainly a choice. I'm sure it will go well.

  7. I'd probably have to think harder about this because what I came up with feels like I'm missing something. First attempt anyway...North American bracket is Side A, Japanese bracket is side B. Mostly dream matches that I want to see or matches that the wrestlers involved have stated that they want to have, at least on Side A: Side A: Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle. So they can get that dream match they've both talked about. Bret wins. Kenny Omega vs. AJ Styles. I know they wanted to do this at a Wrestlemania. This ain't it, but I'm holding the book! But, hypocritically: they can figure it out amongst themselves who wins. To them, I don't know that the match is about that anyway as opposed to the overall performance. Bret wins the bracket. Side B: Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenta Kobashi. Kobashi takes it. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Toshiaki Kawada (I'm pretty sure this happened. I don't care, I want to see it again with both guys in their top form.) Tanahashi wins. Tana squeaks by Kobashi to win the bracket. Final: Bret vs. Tana. Couldn't care less who wins, just want to see it.

  10. I've absolutely Tony Khan'd this. I mean, I know I'm booking Lou Thesz over Ruckus after reversing a standing SSP into a Lou Thesz Press, meeting Nick Gage in the next round after he overcomes 25 minutes of stalling to finally hack into his forehead with a pizza cutter and the ref stopping for blood loss setting up a glorious second round of Lou Thesz becoming acquainted with light tubes. I don't really know where the second half of the bracket goes. I'm thinking Rey squashes Brody, but then from there, can Omega get Haystacks Calhoun up for the One Winged Angel?

  17. In right behind DEAN today. Kids brought home germs and I can't run currently so no 1990 AJPW and disappointing Bam Bam Bigelow performances (though an 88 NJPW Bigelow vs Vader handheld just showed up; have you guys seen that yet?). But I can watch Elevation. Bunny took it to Onyx right from the get go with some really hard shots, but my absolute favorite thing about this match was how when Onyx did the sort of slow matrix bridge back, Bunny really reacted in the moment, just a look of shock that really sold what was going on. She has no reason to do that for enhancement talent, except for that, you know, it makes literally everything about the match better. Bunny is really good at giving in to the moment like that, which is one thing to do as a second but she's able to really live her character as a wrestler too. When really she just likes horror movies and oreo taste tests or whatever. Cutler vs Manning was pretty great. If I was making a top ten AEW list right now I'd have Moxley, Cassidy, and Jericho as my top 3, but right around 13 (in a top ten, yeah) would be Cutler. The stuff with the book was a lot of fun. He's another guy who just completely gives himself up to the character and the moment. Hits keep coming. Emi's annoyance with Maki is a thing of beauty. Beasts did a good job here of balancing playing along with Maki's stuff while also still being monstrous threats. They really made her work for the head spots and the fans went nuts when they hit. Nyla and Emi had a nice potato fest too. Just really nice to see Emi against different opponents. I liked the Takeshita/Davari match. There were the bits on the finishing stretch where they kept running back and forth while hitting each other I didn't love, but at least it led right into the finish (and who doesn't love a mid-ring Chaos Theory?). Otherwise, I thought Davari kept things grounded while really letting Takeshita do his thing. He has absolutely amazing, maybe even generational, physical charisma. I'm not going to question that. I'm not at all convinced he has any idea what to do with it other than "A lot of stuff" but in with the right wrestlers, it can be used to amazing effect. There's no way I'm watching a match with Omega if it comes to that though. No way. The thing with a guy like him is that his stuff is going to be very good right until the point it's not. This almost hit that point but snuck away right at the last second and stayed in the good zone. Speaking of good, Anthony's really good. His reverse tilt-a-whirl pancake thing is just very impressive visually and it always pops me. Finish of this was picture perfect with the roll up as a feint right into the Border City Stretch. So slick. Satnam's black hole slam was at such a weird low angle but entirely nasty and the finish is the coolest move of the year, right. The alley oop/tower of doom chokeslam. Then they all did the strut! Best Friends/Rocky were having a lot of fun against Yabo! Juggling, balloons, violence. All good stuff. They really don't get to have matches like this that often. Athena's first shot was so nasty. Just brutal. Just out of nowhere. The best. I almost don't want to see Athena in actual matches, because she's so great just killing people. How did WWE never turn her heel even once? Again, this show is just a blast. All of the Chaos Project tandem offense, Kassidy kissing a woman's hand before making the rolling hot tag. Quen doing a bit rolling hot tag just for the hell of it even when they had the advantage, Hardy using splash mountain (which he does but...) which is basically Page's finish. I actually thought the Page segment backstage was very good too with the way he was kind of rolling with what was happening. Hell, even the Kip Sapian backstage thing was pretty good! More backstage Elevation promos. I could have used just a bit more Eddie vs Comoroto in that tag, but the Factory's doubleteams were all good and Eddie coming in to chop Comoroto right in the face was lovely. Comoroto's slingshot elbow drop was really good too. Take a look at this show and it's hard not to be positive about AEW. One fun match or performance after the next. You could move any of these guys into matches against almost anyone on the roster and it'd all be something I'd want to see. What a fun show.

  18. I've mentioned this in regards to Jeff Jarrett, but having rewatched post-Screwjob 1997 WWF up until 2000 currently with a buddy of mine... Vader is a complete afterthought. End of '97/1998 he's in a weird feud with Goldust & Luna, then used to put over the new giant monster pick in Kane, loses to everyone on WWF's syndicated shows. We laughed at Vader calling himself a piece of shit in an interview, but it's really kind of sad. Then, what, months later, he's back in All Japan and it's like a totally different guy. His run from like late 98 to maybe 02 or so is really good. Wasn't really a big fan of the team with 2 Cold Scorpio, but it's fun (and weird) seeing Scorpio wrestle the likes of Akiyama and Misawa, though. I really need to step up my 80s-mid 00s joshi watching. I'm pretty exclusively just Nakano/Kong/Hokuto/Toyota matches, and some current Stardom/TJPW with a real small sampling of Sendai Girls mixed in. Not the same conversation, but I'm still trying to find Billie Starkz vs Yuka Sakazaki somewhere.

  25. I take it there's been no Jericho-Sting business in AEW yet because Jericho's been involved in other longterm stuff and was face for a while, but hopefully once he drops the ROH strap we can get something along those lines. Or even just a fun random tag at the next New Japan crossover like the one that got us some Sting-Bucks interaction.

  27. Stuff like this continues to highlight how unfortunate and unnecessary all of this was. Between talk like this and stories like the one ESPN put out about Punk running into Dax at a Starbucks and getting them booked for Dynamite later that night, it's clear he had a decent amount of say in who he did or didn't want to work with. Tony might have wanted to get to some marquee matches eventually, but with how deliberately many stars are kept apart on television that could have been way down the road if ever. People could have stayed in their own lanes and still had plenty of people to work with for years. Based on Stokely's wording, that's about as clearly as anyone's said "he's gone" yet. Everything sucks.

  32. Is this guy doing a Fake Sting/Bizarro Natural gimmick? Rather than re-share your tweets that literally no-one else reads, lean into the gimmick and post a really unstructured list about why you hate Bryan Danielson, and why Penta doesn't taunt enough.

  33. I had an AEW-related dream last night that's bothered me all day. I had to go get Hook. He was at his house. I don't know why I had to get him, or where we were going. Hook owned several vehicles, but apparently he decided we would travel in an old 80's C-Body Chevy pickup truck. You know the kind that a professional mechanic has? The outside doesn't look fancy but under the hood it's a beast? It was that kind. Hook opened the passenger door for me, and I climbed in, and before he started to drive, my wife woke me up. Where were we going?

  37. The Factory with Cole Karter, Big Shotty and QT Marshall! They beat up three dudes! QT is a HEAT MACHINE! Zack Clayton is a budding Ethan Page. Taz and Excaliber discuss Chris Wylde's hair. I have to disagree and say that his hair is not very wild. NICE Captured Arm Brainbuster. Hikaru Shida! HEY! IT'S HAGANE SHINNO! I saw him wrestle Ryo Mizunami on a Gatoh Move. Layla Luciano! I have not seen her before, I don't think. Okay, Layla is fucking AWESOME, making with the Airplane Spin! LAYLA! LAYLA! LAYLA! The JAS takes on Hot Sauce Tracy Williams and two other dudes. DADDY MAGIC has good punches. Cool Hand Ange has good punches. LSG makes a hot tag to Williams and we get what we want- Williams vs Garcia. Williams looks great in this. Garcia is awesome. Tony Deppen! Brian Cage! PRINCE NANA! Deppen has achieved a Leon Ruffin level slot on the AEW YouTube channel. DRILL CLAW! HAGANE SHINNO! He's been wrestling for like 15 years. Angelico should make this weird. Angelico does tricked out Lucha Libre submissions and we all rejoice. Shinno hits the US debut of the Suzu Suzuki Tequila Shot! Angelico Negro Navarros Shinno for the win. That was a full Workwide Point. EMI! EMI! EMI! Tiara James! It is a hair-based match! PRETTY PETER AVALON- THE PRETTIEST BOY IN AEW! The rest of the Wingmen! TAZ and Ex note how hunky the Wingmen are. Ethan Page is irritated at the Party Hardy horsing around. MARQ QUIN is SPECTACULAR with the INSIDE INVERTED TOPE CON HILO! Double Dropkick by the Wingmen- Ryan Nemeth and Peter Avalon ARE the Midnight Express. Matt Hardy should definitely settle into being a six-man tag guy because he is so much better in six-man. JESUS! MARQ QUIN IS FUCKING SPECTACULAR! I assume we are working to Ethan Page vs Matt Hardy, which could be good. Ethan Page is GREAT as Matt Hardy's stepdad as he is moving towards an evil drill instructor. That was weirdly good DARK.

  39. I have very few absolutes in my sports random, but if you have a transcendent quarterback and a losing record, you're a bad coach. I feel the same way about basketball players who don't get into the NCAA tournament. We should have known everything we needed to know about both Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz when they couldn't drag their team to the tournament. You might get a good player who didn't play in the tourney, but they couldn't be the #1 pick on my team.

  40. Offsides happens when a ball is passed offensively and any part of an offensive player is ahead of the last defender at the time of the pass. Why don't you have them at mid-pitch? Because a legal pass would happen to your fastest player and the zone's defender has to turn around and catch up AND try to take away the ball. Even if you do catch up, your defender will be dead meat the 2nd or 3rd time it happens. Meanwhile, that super-fast player now has a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper... that usually doesn't end well. (And even worse if there's a second offensive player in tow.)

  41. I hate voting against Take-soup. Brandon Cutler, and Vipress's phat ass submission finisher but Alan Angels vs. Danny Limelight was the best big stakes match in a little fed that I have seen in a while. You'd have thought those guys were fighting to be the #1 Contender for the RoH TV title, not the goddamned UPN Heavyweight title held by Jordan Clearwater who has improved a lot over time but still looks green as grass and can barely get over even with the Embassy at his back. When two guys go at it like that, the belt must matter. BUSHI/ Titan vs KUSHIDA/ Kevin Knight is a strong second because KUSHIDA. Zoey Stark really should steal Vipress's finisher. We will see what the rest of the week brings.

  43. Mia/Rhea was solid before it became a brawl that became an 8-person tag that was pretty damn good. Anderson was good as the FIP, and I loved how it all came back down to Mia/Rhea by the end. Alpha Academy vs. Street Profits was another fine match, maybe the best between these teams yet. loved the Dawkins/Gable section ealy on. Ford was great as FIP and during his fired up comebacks. Dawkins was great for the hot tag. Glad to see the Profits back. Miz/Lumis was a fun brawl with nice spot or two. Loved the post match with Lumis handing money to kids only for Miz to attack and steal the last $100 from a kid. Johnny comign in for the save and to return the money was nice as well. Candice/Dakota was Candice's best match since her return so far. Candice fired up and attacking Dakota before the match even began was great. Loved how said fire never died down with Candice just all over Dakota throughout the match. Candice busting the ballsplex was a neat surprise as well. Don't think she has done that in WWE before. Jey/KO was great. Not sure about KO constantly surviving the superkick, but I loved the reactions to it be it from the crowd, Jimmy, or Sami. Great Raw all around. Looking forward to Becky vs. Damage Control and Usos vs. Elias/Riddle in the coming weeks.

  44. Mahomes has a case to be the Chiefs best running option but obviously the times that Mahomes runs are much more strategic/opportunistic than the regular RB plays. But Mahomes isn't gonna be known as a running QB because of how much he passes for. Nice to see that the Colts are wearing retro helmets with the double horse shoe design they used in 1956 when Matt Ryan was young.
