RIPPA
It might as well be tied to the Cards situation Up to 13 total cases - 7 players have tested positive. Obviously they will not be going to Detroit Word on the street is that reportedly some Cards players were seen at the Casino when they were in Minnesota but obviously who knows if that is the root cause

RIPPA
The Marlins had another round of tests that yielded no new positives so they have been approved to return to play tonight. Of course they are supposed to play in Baltimore so who knows if that game will be washed out or not The Cardinals had no new positives also. They need another round of negative tests before being allowed to return to play. The goal is they will resume on Friday.

It's raining cats and dogs where I'm at but in Baltimore they're saying it'll be clear tonight. So assuming the ground isn't a horrible mess it seems they'll play tonight. Which is a shame as I still don't want the Marlins anywhere near another team. If I had my way I'd just have them sit out this season and not pay the players that were stupid. But of course with the association and all that that won't happen. But it would be nice if it could.

It was a little questionable when the news hit that time, but considering 2020 is a pre-1945 voting year, it seemed a lot like the reason they didn't formally announce it this winter was because MLB planned on the Field of Dreams game to formally announce "Shoeless Joe is eligible for Veterans' Committee consideration."

Please don't turn this into a HOF thread. Please don't turn this into a HOF thread. Please don't turn this into a HOF thread. I have no recollection of any of this. But the HOF is not even Manfred's jurisdiction. So no idea. I know Manfred has already turned down Pete Rose's request for reinstatement. And I know he no-sold supporters of Jackson who wanted his name cleared. So no idea why this would have been different. But hey, I've never even seen Field of Dreams so my interest in any of this is minimal. Please don't turn this into a HOF thread. Please don't turn this into a HOF thread. It's not his jurisdiction directly but the HOF implemented a Pete Rose Rule a few years back saying anybody on the ineligible list can't be considered for induction. Before that, Pete Rose was actually technically eligible for induction but was left off the ballot. With the passing of the rule, MLB has some direct influence on who is eligible. Manfred taking Jackson off the ineligible list would make him eligible for the Hall again or, at least, no longer ineligible for being on the "list". The Hall could still do whatever the heck they wanted.

Manfred could merely take him off the ineligible list but he doesn't have any say on what the HOF would do with that. That said, Manfred already has refused Rose's request for reinstatement. And in 2015 Manfred refused to even reopen the Jackson case. So odds were slim some ghost of Joe Jackson was going to trot out of a cornfield like the Undertaker and get nominated for the HOF. RIPPA
New league COVID policies that they claim will have severe punishments for repeated violations Quote In the new protocols, MLB is requiring everyone to always wear masks when not on the field, while also severely limiting all interaction among players, coaches and staff members. The revised protocols include: Players and staff wear face coverings at all times, including the dugout and clubhouse, with the exception of players on the field. This includes all coaches on the field, and every member of the umpiring crew. They must also wear face coverings at all times in the hotel and at public places on the road. Clubs now are required to reduce the size of their traveling parties to only personnel who are absolutely essential to playing games. The compliance officers must certify that every member of the traveling party served an essential function on the road trip. Staff and players are strictly prohibited from meeting in hotel rooms while on the road (including to share food), and may not gather in any public areas of the hotel without permission from the team’s compliance officer. Each team will make at least one private large room at the hotel with food and other amenities that is configured to allow for social distancing. Yet, while eating and drinking, individuals are discouraged from talking to one another, or even facing one another. On road trips, clubs must provide a minimum of four buses, with a fully unoccupied row between players and staff members, while prohibiting side-by-side seating. On planes, players and staff members are prohibited from having more than two individuals in a row, and they can’t sit across from one another. They also are prohibiting anyone from leaving their seats except to use the lavatory. Players and staff members also must wear surgical masks or N95/KN95 respirators on the plane, prohibiting cloth face coverings. Eating and drinking are still permitted on planes, but players and staff are prohibited from talking to one another at the same time. Any player or staff member must notify their compliance officer if they intend to leave the hotel on the road. The officer will decide whether their planned trip outside the hotel complies with the manual and the club’s code of conduct. All clubs now are required to provide outdoor, covered spaces for all visiting players and staff members to sit. Whenever possible, players and players are also encouraged to eat outdoors instead of the clubhouse. While at home, players and staff members are strictly prohibited from visiting bars, lounges, malls, or places in which large groups gather. Players and staff members who have been ordered to quarantine or isolate on the road may not leave their hotel rooms under any circumstance. Any club official who does not receive permission from the commissioner’s office to end their quarantine or isolation is subject to discipline. Considering they are basically like YOU CAN NEVER TALK~! good luck not violating these every single day
