A glimpse of summer's heatwaves in your eyes... You did what you did to me....

We're deep on the road to Forbidden Door.  So let's see where we are....

The main AEW champ is probably an underdog against his challenger... The main NJPW champ is probably an underdog against his challenger...  The main AEW women's champ is probably an underdog against her challenger...  Awesome.

🎶

Now it's history I see, here's my comeback on the road again, things will happen while they can....

Well, I am being a bit cheeky... all those matches should be fun.  Meanwhile, Jeff Cobb needs an opponent!  But you know who doesn't?   Zach Sabre Jr!  I'll bet Orange makes him mad at some point by sticking his hands in his pockets!

🎼

I will wait here for my man tonight, it's easy when you're big in Japan.

Only 7 matches for Forbidden Door?  Tsk tsk Tony.  You need more than that!   Let's see how this week goes.

Enjoy!

----

(lol, like I'd use a good Tom Waits song on you guys  👼🏾

I think it was someone here who suggested Samoseph Joseph as Jeff Cobb's opponent and now I NEED to see that...

Please and thank you. A good hoss meat battle there.

I just checked and this has apparently never happened. Make it so, TK.

Joe v Cobb would be one of the best possible hoss battles, but who does the job? Joe losing makes no sense and Cobb’s a title holder. I suspect his opponent will be one of their solid to great job squad members.

15 minutes time limit draw as Jeff Cobb is the NJPW World Television Champion. However Zack Sabre Jr was the NJPW World Television Champion when he had the classic with Bryan Danielson at AEW WrestleDream 2023 and it was a non title match.

No way has the singer of Alphaville ever heard Robert Smith. No way in the world. Even though he looks like a somehow uglier Darby Crash. (Also, I would not be surprised at all if it turned out that was directed by Russell Mulcahy or David Fincher or somebody, but turns out it was a German musician/conceptual artist/businessman.)

Forgot all about Forbidden Door, so it's no wonder they brought a Stardom person out for the title shot.

I'd be fine with a Hansen/Andre finish where they just get too out of control and the ref has no choice but to throw out the match.

Speaking of hoss battles, hear me out for a second.

Joe & Cobb vs Gates of Agony

That’s exactly what I’d do. The match is in Long Island? Let them fight out of the arena and all the way to Brooklyn or some shit. Godzilla vs. King Kong type shit…

Let the two of them go at it for ten minutes or so then have GoA interfere for whatever convoluted reasons they want to come up with to set up a match for whenever.

Time to bring back the "Let's Go Jeff!" / "Let's Go Jeff!" duelling chant from Jarrett vs Hardy 20 years ago.

so who references Caitlin Clark to get cheap heat in Iowa tonight, Christian or Don Callis? Jericho might be a candidate to loudly give advice on how Clark can become good enough to make the Olympics next time.

Dustin really needs to start winning some meaningful matches. I felt disappointment when he came out as Jack's opponent, and nobody should be disappointed to see Dustin Rhodes come out to wrestle.

The Swerve/Ospreay thing is so much better than having the evil boss Elite trying to feud with Swerve on the side

The Jericho thing is only good if you're cheering for babyfaces to kick their asses.

Kind of a quiet night. Probably lots of bangers though

Gotta love that the surprise for Jack Perry is Dustin, who never wins anything big on TV anyways. And then Jack Perry makes Dustin bleed and wins anyways.

No! Don't keep starting your shows with 10+ minutes of Blahblahblah!

No! Don't have dudes (Roosh) just freeze up when their rival's entrance theme starts playing!!

NOOOO!!! DON'T TREAT F'N NICKY BOY AS "IN ACTION"!!!!

Dammit AEW! NO! Don't let PAC say "Championship Opportunity!"

FFS! Don't have guys pointing at the PPV sign!

AAARGGHHH!!! DIFFERENTIATE!! Don't f'n copy their dumb worn out tropes and cliches.

Dammit.

On the other hand..

Yas!

Keep tossing out PPV level matches like Ospreay vs Fenix and MJF vs Roosh, on free TV.

Might as well. Roster is so ridiculously stacked you're not going to run out any time soon.

And that, at least, is certainly a lot of fun to watch.

Also fun:  Joe, Hook, and Shibata, and the juxtaposition of Chicken and Orange.

Actual Bird > Mythical Bird.

Edit: Hook nope-ing! Hook nope-ing was  veryvery fun, too!

New stuff to look forward to:

ZSJ vs Orange!

Shingo in the Owen!

Edit again: All the in-ring stuff on TV is consistently excellent. The cake is great! I just FAR preferred the old, unique, type of frosting and REALLY wish they hadn't switched over to that generic corporate frosting supplier.

It kind of bums me out seeing Gordlow upset like that. I feel ya, I really do. Yet despite that I loved the show a lot.

Also, @Dolfan in NYCit's a week late but Comoroto made TV! So now your thread title from last week can be as intended.

Also, I don't care who did better or whatever argument is about whatever. But Mercedes/Zeuxis was really damn good! I remember liking Zeuxis when I watched CMLL years ago so glad to see her shine.

Really fun show that flew by quick with a lot of stuff happening and a lot of stuff being announced throughout the night. Hot opening with the announcement of Blood and Guts! and flowing in to Jack vs Dustin in a bloody opener. Dustin's promo on Collision last week at least did a good job setting this match up.  Another fun Rush/MJF brawl and they're separated by Glacier! Surprised their match is next week instead of Forbidden Door but maybe it continues there.  Hook & Joe w/ Shibata is a lot of fun so far.

trios match was good, surprised to see ROH TV champ pin the ROH Worlds champ there.

Mercedes vs Zeuxis was awesome, thought they worked really well together. Cool transition to the finish looked great.

Pretty excellent main event as expected from Ospreay vs Fenix. Dug the post-match a lot as far as putting some real fire behind the Forbidden Door main event. Looking forward to more stacked lineups ahead.
