  1. What is hugely impressive to me on the outside in is how they're hitting so many big marks one after the other. Two weeks ago there was the Big Show. Last week they did Cody vs Shaq. At the PPV they did the exploding match and debuted Christian. Then they had the big new stable last night. Plus all of the women's and midcard stuff. None of it really felt like hotshotting because it's all different programs up and down the card. It doesn't seem perfect, but things have stakes and build and payoff and things happen. There are a lot of fires burning.

  3. This is why the Something for Everyone booking approach works. Getting fans who like Shawn Spears and hate Kenny Omega to watch the show even when Kenny is World, champ, what a gift.

  5. I'd be interested to see how you are coming to an objective conclusion of Kenny being a great wrestler.

  6. Well, we now have someone who shows up every week to air his grievances about HOOK, of all people, so that has probably skewed our perception of what constitutes a weird AEW beef these days. I mean, at least Kenny is actually a big part of the show.

  7. Yeah, last thing we need is some crazy old person using Twitter as a platform to spout out insane things. Be glad that NEVER happened. We all dodged a giant bullet there!

  8. Pretty confident MJF’s plan was to have Hager and PNP turn on Jericho to break the Inner Circle fellowship once and for all, and then double cross them by debuting his new group to clean up the scraps.

  9. "The Reaper" Shawn Spears? I'm with Blue Oyster Cult.

  10. I'm scared to see a Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal callback segment because this promotion would actually do that. At the very least they'll have Jake wearing a COAL MINER'S GLOVE~ and be all "REMEMBER THIS, STING?" Then Darby Allin sets it on fire before eating it or something.

  11. It's particularly a problem with Sting. I don't know why literally every single Sting promo gets interrupted when he barely gets two sentences in. If I was Sting, the next time I get interrupted, I would just be like, "Oh come ON. Every single week I have something to say and someone interrupts me a few seconds in. I'M OLD! I can't remember this stuff. Last week I had something really important to say. I can't remember what I was going to say now." I was thinking about this too. The long form storytelling hits way more than it misses. Sometimes you wind up with a feud that drags out for too long. I think Darby/Sting vs Team Taz got close to that point. Ultimately though, you know you're going to get a blow off. Santana and Ortiz vs the Best Friends was one of my favorite feuds last year. It was just on a simmer for the longest time, but it built up and built up and ended with what was one of my favorite matches and maybe the best match on Dynamite from 2020. How long did people suspect MJF would be part of a faction with FTR? You go back to mid last year when Tully was scouting MJF. And now we have the payoff. I love it. It's great. Sometimes you get a shit feud like Cody vs Shaq, but more often than not you get something good.

  13. So in the Best Friends interview in the arcade, Orange Cassidy was sitting in the Fast and Furious game. Character consistency, right there.

  14. Yeah I truly have no fucking clue what people are talking about when it comes to Christian Cage showing heel tendencies. He got in Omega's face, almost hit his finisher, and then held the belt up as if he was going for it. Mox and King as a duo is going to be fucking great, I hope. Please let them beat the shit out of the Bucks and then defend against a whole ton of people.

  15. Was watching some VRTL Pros Pain Pigs and volume 24 has a Pentagon vs. Arez match... I miss killer Pentagon. He fucked up Arez a couple of times. They did it again in the rain with a slicked and dangerous ring mat. In that one, Penta carves Arez up with a broken cerveza bottle. So basically what I'm saying is: AEW should bring in Arez solely for Penta to beat up/massacre. Penta's gotten soft like Rocky in Rocky III and needs to go back to his Lucha Underground character ASAP. Hopefully this is the start of that. He was a bit too spotty back then and now he's gone all the way to spirit meter spamming.

  16. First, let me just say that if I come off as condescending to people who like Kenny Omega, I am sincerely sorry. Truly. I don't ever want to be condescending because someone's fandom is different than mine. Unless they stan Seth Rollins. Then I'm talking down to you like a motherfucker, because we have to have societal norms. I think my biggest pet peeve, both in wrestling and outside it, is inauthenticity. In the past, I've outlined my problems with Rollins, Adam Cole and Sasha Banks that all have inauthenticity at their core. They don't believe what they're saying, so I don't. It's the same thing with Kenny. In addition to his "crash as crash can" in ring style, I don't buy what he's trying to sell the audience right now, especially when the two guys he's programming with are maybe the two most authentic dudes in wrestling today. Listen to Eddie Kingston talk about being in the holding cell before his sentencing and then listen to Kenny Omega try to mock him by talking about detention in 7th grade. Either he's doing the world's best "pretentious dweeb" impression, or he actually is a pretentious dweeb. I also wholeheartedly reject the notion that one can be an objectively good wrestling when wrestling is subjective. And if someone could be objectively good at a subjective art form, that person wouldn't be Kenny Omega.

  17. Yeah, but the actual problems it indicates are: 1) The world is full of idiots and 2) It is way too easy for said idiots to find a platform for their idiocy.

  24. How dare you sir! Hangman with Dark Order is my weekly highlight, the loveable goofs! Feared something bad when the lawnmower almost flipped as page drove away though. So glad someone else spotted this, I was grinning when I noticed it. Fun show, lots of storyline movement, some good in ring action. I'm entertained.

  25. I think it was one of those things where she deafened herself with the first shot and then just took it easy on her ears. You can see she's wearing a monitor headset, so that mic was feeding right into her. She got a decent thump off the first shot but I imagine it couldn't have done wonders for her ears.

  32. That's one more thing I liked. The last comment hit and shit was on. Everybody running out immediately made it feel like they were all in the back listening, murmuring to each other that they're probably gonna have to go stop them. Also have to admire the movement of the chess pieces. No more Eddie faction so B&B go with Matt, Penta gets at Cody, Fenix and Pac stay together. New faction from MJF etc. No Taz faction on the show either to clutter things.

  33. Every time I see Kenny Omega I see Kip Winger. Shawn Spears will never get a pinfall as a member of the Burberry Street Posse.

  34. Really fun show but they are over-relying on "someone interrupts a promo" to further feuds. This is a promotion full of great talkers, would be enough to just let them talk.

  35. From the looking around I did, she wasn't posting clips, she was posting whole shows or long segments, pausing them to avoid strikes or takedowns, then she would talk shit, then she would resume video.

  39. Oh yeah, Kenny said "69 me Don!" on national television. And I will forgive Cody for many of his sins should his exit be the kickstarter to a bad ass Penta run. Alex Abrahantes did a great job, but I mean mother fucking Dario Cueto has to be around right?

  40. So our new stories are: Bucks vs 2 sides of the equilateral triangle of muerte (not really new, but this was the start) Cody vs Penta Sting vs Archer (this is fucking scary) Whose side is Christian on?!? Darby vs Scorp MJF's Ponymen vs Inner Circle That all looks pretty sweet to me.

  42. There was a point where @just drewhatred of Kenny kinda bugged me because, like, it's a very weird opinion to have considering that Omega is objectively a great wrestler, but now it's more or less amusing to me. It's especially amusing to see him give Spears a pass. I mean, so long as it doesn't veer into that weird Cornette territory, then it's fine. Although, hate on Kenny all you want, but Maki "hitting" Shida with the mic was the worst thing on the show.

  43. I thought they did a great job covering the Revolution ending stuff. Really the best it could go, Moxley and Kingston were perfect together. Matt/Fenix was fun. Cody/Pentagon is interesting, as others have said it seems like a solid way to take Cody off TV if it has to happen. The possibility of Sting/Archer intrigues me. It's a running thing that Sting must always be interrupted. Archer mentioned Sting as the one legend he wished to face in an interview about a year ago. Loved the Moxley/Kingston v. Bullet Club segment leading in to Christian/Omega. Really wanna see Christian/Omega now. Didn't get any heel turn vibes and I hope they don't go that route that quickly. I'm a huge fan of Christian's 2007 heel run in TNA but his best WWE stuff was all babyface in 09-11 and especially with his "Out Work Everyone" gimmick, I'd like to see him working babyface in the ring. His theme sounded slightly remixed from the original or like they are still reworking it. Maki Itoh's entrance is the greatest and keeps getting better. Continuing while everyone else brawled was my favorite part of the show. Commentary all cracking up over it was great. The more Maki, the better. Britt/Thunder next week should be great. I'm guessing that will be Britt winning a title shot while Rosa goes back to NWA for a bit (even though Red Velvet is ranked #1 contender) Fun match and Scorpio/Darby ruled with some cool counters. Closing segment was awesome. So glad it didn't go the obvious predictable route that was teased, loved everyone sticking with Jericho and their original allegiance as it should be. Then MJF pulling the final swerve with the Horsemen. I've never been a Spears fan but actually kind of like that they didn't just abandon Tully's original partnership with him and I haven't minded him too much. Perfect setup for Blood & Guts again, though I am sad that Cody won't be involved as I'll always wish last year's match could have happened. Hell of a beatdown and closing angle here. Great show and another loaded lineup next week.
