Joe Lucia
Whatever it is, it's probably an overpay. Reminds me so much of the Jackson-Cubs deal last winter. Should have been a guy that pushed a contender over the top as opposed to a guy signed by a rebuilding team.
Joe Lucia
4/49 for Nolasco, which seems fine...just not for the Twins. They need pitching badly, but he's not the guy that will turn everything around.
Gonzo
4/49 for Nolasco, which seems fine...just not for the Twins. They need pitching badly, but he's not the guy that will turn everything around. Their payroll is only at about $72 million or something at the moment, even with the Nolasco signing. The Twins are realizing the "Holy shit, we've got a new park" appeal of Target Field is wearing off after losing 90+ for three straight years, so they'll probably spend more. Besides, Buxton and Sano aren't going to get to Minnesota until 2015, in all likelihood. . .it's pretty much a holding pattern until then.

Joe Lucia
Getting out of Yankee Stadium might be exactly what Hughes needs - he's allowed twice as many homers at home than on the road in his career. That's outrageous.
RIPPA
Well he definitely picked a park that should help with that number. Granted he still has to pitch road games... and in the AL
Joe Lucia
Dioner Navarro is getting 2/$8 from Toronto. Can't even attempt to defend Anthopolous on this one.
Craig H
WOAH! I'm glad he's getting paid. He had a ridiculous season as a backup catcher and I figured he would get a lot more than he could get from the Cubs, but not that much.
RIPPA
The signing also means that J.P. Arencibia's time with the Jays is over. He will either be traded or non-tendered today. Oh and the Mariners gave Willie Bloomquist a two year deal worth between $5 and $6 million
Joe Lucia
Scott Kazmir's going to Oakland, two years. Not sure of the money yet. Given it's Oakland, I'd think 2/10...any other team, probably something like 2/16.

Craig H
Good signing by Oakland. AL West could become super competitive though, if Seattle has any luck and if the Angels can somehow unfuck themselves.

Cristobal
$22 million. Jesus, way more than I expected. Peace out, Brett Anderson. Anderson's club option for 2014 (a paltry $8M) was already exercised. I think it means Colon is the one not coming back.
Joe Lucia
Colon's a free agent and definitely not coming back. Kazmir's signing means they have six starters *plus* Anderson. He was probably going to dealt regardless, but signing another lefty *really* dooms him IMO

The bars on King Street West will be crying into their overpriced Jack Daniels . The female fans in Toronto will have to find a new object for their affection. I liked JP but man he was way too confident and comfortable with his production last year. Yeah he was hurt but who isnt towards the end of a long season

He was probably going to dealt regardless, but signing another lefty *really* dooms him IMO It's Oakland. We expect our players to break down on a semi-regular basis. Strength in depth. Besides, if Anderson is going to be traded, he's going to be traded when his value is higher. In the meantime, he's a guy who's racked up over 8 WAR in just 73 starts. He'll get another chance to start.
