Scott Steiner's biggest downfall in WWE was the fact that scripted promos robbed him of his ability to be Scott Steiner. I would've paid big bucks to see Scott Steiner cut a Big Poppa Pump promo on Triple H.

Agree 100%. Steiner with a live mic in WCW and, later, TNA was one of the highlights of every show, by far. It was one of the last times you really thought that anything could happen. Fun fact: a couple years ago, I exchanged some words with an ex-girlfriend of mine and actually stole his line about Flair having "more loose skin than a sharpei puppy." Felt good, man.

I once heard Zach Gowen brag about cutting a promo at some indy show, saying he was going back to the WWE, and he sold a bunch of merch because of it. That's pretty carny.
