Dolfan in NYC Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 For the record, JBL's decade-long continued loathing of Hornswoggle is pure gold. Please play nice y'all.
Bear Wyatt Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 How nice was it to not have John Cena show up and completely blow off his loss from the night before? It makes the Wyatts look better and gives Cena some "doubt" to play off in the upcoming weeks. Other than that, I dig battle royals so the opener was cool. The six-man was pretty good. Rollins is crazy. He's a top 3 best worker in the entire company in my opinion.
The Green Meanie Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Anyone else notice D-BRY came out with the World Heavyweight Championship upside-down?
cool arrow Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Anyone else notice D-BRY came out with the World Heavyweight Championship upside-down? Is that a distress signal, like flying the flag upside down? 1
Leviathan West Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Agree wholeheartedly on Rollins. He still feels so underrated because you know they've strapped the rocket to Reigns, so I'm always surprised when Rollins makes an insane dive or a hot comeback and the crowd goes nuts. I was fine with the Evolution beatdown. I mean the babyfaces win clean at the PPV, so what's the logical way to keep it going? The heels refuse to be one-and-done and proceed with a shit-kicking to give the Shield a reason to come back and whip their asses again. I was watching Bryan/Del Rio thinking to myself, shit if Del Rio found his 2011 working boots, this could be fantastic for fifteen minutes. As it was, it was fine with the announcers trying to sell me on Bryan being afraid of Kane showing up. Gotta go back and watch the Adam Rose debut and the Wyatts promo, as I missed those last night. Hope tonight's Cena promo is interesting at least.
Greggulator Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Evolution also only beats down The Shield when they have a total advantage. HHH made that match after Dean had been in a battle royal. And The Wyatts are their biggest rivals and it was obviously going to be another war. What better time to attack than when an exhausted Shield finally has Bray trapped and are focused on finally destroying him?Evolution are total dicks. Give them credit. HHH uses his power to arbitrarily put the people currently in his sites in bad situations. 3
Playa Shunna Ver 3.0 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Rollins is a beast. Between Extreme Rules and RAW he is getting ready to be the break out star of the Shield. The people want to see him fly around like a crazy person. The D-Bry/Kane stuff is a little too corny for my tastes. I never got why these wrestlers bring their wives to events when they know it isn't safe. Leave her home for the night. It would be great if Kane went to kidnap Bri, ut accidentally kidnapped Nikki, and Cena came in an whoops his ass. Yeah...the HHH storyline is great. There is so much good shit going on, but they still have an hour to fill with complete nonsense. That always puts me to sleep.
JonnyLaw Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Adding the Indian style music to Rose's debut seemed to be a mistake, but other than that, I thought it was a solid debut. Get him out there, show him off, and set up a decent feud for him to start with.
ebbie Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 It was kinda weird not having a divas match or segment. Paige has already gone through the heel divas (sans AJ) that she should've gone through. So, welcome to limbo Paige! Say hi to the other NXT call ups while you're there. Big E having Wade on his shoulders made for a mindfuck of a visual. He looked like he could've touched the ground while on Big E's shoulders. I love that he is doing the Bullhammer from different angles/ways. I also like that he signals for it and fails the first time. It's like the crowds' cue to start going crazy. Perfect timing with Sheamus winning the U.S. belt. Time to unify and deck for cover because those two arseholes are going to kill each other. #TeamBadNewsBarrett Wyatt's promos are getting tedious. I don't know how long they are on average, but last night's felt like it kept going and going and going.
OSJ Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Hate to say this because I've been really enjoying the current WWE, but this show was a throwback to the bad old days. The six-man with the Evolution run-in and beat down was great. Bray as usual was great on the mic. Bryan and Alberto was okay. Big E and Barrett apparently forgot all the things that made their PPV match great. I'm sure that there are things Brie Bella does well (after all, Bryan looks like a pretty happy guy), but acting is not one of them. The whole Bryan/Kane stuff reeked of Papa Shango. Bryan fooling around under the hood was almost as horrible as what came next. As soon as the car was supposedly stalled my wife and just looked at each and quoting a bad "B"Movie, (which shall remain nameless) "Monster in the backseat, oldest trick in the book!" And of course, we had monster in the back seat. Anything would have been better. Poor Adam Rose, DOA. Even Dutch ain't gonna save this one. Of course, when I think of guys that would intimidate me in the wrestling ring, a raver prancing about yelling "It's party time!" while sucking on a lollypop is one of the first things that comes to mind, right up there with midgets masked as a bull. Who gave VKM the script again? C- 2

I am pretty sure their was a Diva's match scheduled because I seem to remember them tweeting out something before the show (of course I am way too lazy to look) hyping a match. It seemed like the show was running way long and they had to cut something and they couldn't cut Adam Rose since they had promoted it so much. ( Well they could have cut Adam Rose and it would have made me laugh and laugh and laugh but yeah. 1

I think Paige beat Alicia Fox on Superstars, which makes me think that it was part of the planning maybe? Didn't they delay and delay on the Brodus Clay debut? Or was that part of the build up to the dancing surprise?
Playa Shunna Ver 3.0 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 They should have brought Adam Rose in as the former lead singer of 3MB who quit and went on to have a sucessful solo career. Now Heath and company are pissed at him. Instant feud. That would have found something for them all to do and could have been a believable first program for Rose. I just don't believe he can stand up to Jack Swagger, or anyone else really. 3

No, they should have introduced him in the battle royal, with all of his people on the outside crowdsurfing him back in when he got eliminated. 5
The Z Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 By the way, what happened to the resurgence of the Tag Team Championship? At the moment it's absolute shit. They didn't even bother to put a Tag Team Championship match on the PPV this time. They split up the PTPs, they split up the Real Americans, now they're splitting up the Rhodes Brothers. They also wanted to split up the Shield, but thankfully ended up not doing it. But they haven't put any effort into replacing any of those teams with new teams. Now the tag team scene is basically the Usos, Rybaxel, Los Matadores and 3MB. It's safe to say it's back in the old slump it used to be.

Take that, Kofi!
Jenalysis Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 The fundamental problem with WWE is that folks want to cheer the heels and boo/apathy for the faces. Barrett in particular is getting heavy face reactions and cheers against Big E (and fans don't hate Big E) WWE should just start running with that, but that's way outside the box thinking.
JRGoldman Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I watched this Raw on DVR, which always makes the show seem worse for me because I realize how much of it I want to skip. That being said, there were some bright spots. I didn't hate the Kane stuff as much as some others, and I thought most of the matches had something interesting about them. I must confess I love the Rusev shtick. I'm just a little concerned we are about two weeks worth of squashes against JTG and Darren Young before we get "Rusev: Virulent Racist" as a gimmick/internet meme.
Pete Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 If they're going to go the horror movie route with Bryan/Kane, they should end it with Bryan stealing Kane's mask and putting it on to "steal his power." Kane gets nuked, goes out on a stretcher. Then afterward Bryan burns the mask or whatever. Think Splatterhouse. 2
Playa Shunna Ver 3.0 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Bryan buries the mask in a desert. Next time Kane returns then can do a vingette of some teenagers digging it up in their yard and accidentally reawakening the monster.
Newb82 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I hated the first half, but loved the second half for the most part. Rose's debut ruled. The Bryan/Kane stuff showed by horror movies need a good score or else the shit just looks goofy. The main was better than the Main Event match, but didn't have the sheer insanity of the first two.
