J.T.
I thought there would be more uproar for Amy Jo Johnson late of the Pink Ranger taking a recurring role on USA's Covert Affairs. Auggie is banging her character as well as his hot Russian hacker ex-girlfriend from Season 1. BLIND PIMP~!
Spritenaut 32
Yeah, that lasted like two episodes. They've both dumped him already.

piranesi
I've always suspected "Harris" was Harris Wittels and "cousin" means "the guy who writes my jokes."

The CBS Drama channel we get over here has started showing reruns of a show called Flashpoint, where Amy Jo Johnson is a member of a SWAT-type hostage negotiation/rescue team. Takes a little bit to wrap your head around that, too.

Lazlo Woodbine
I just found a Japanese mini series adaption of The Long Goodbye with Tadanobu Asano, English subtitles and all. Has anyone here seen this? Is it as great as it looks?
Chaos
After this latest episode, I am thinking that The Leftovers may have jumped the inevitable shark. I guess time will tell, but I'm just not sure where things are going after this week.

J.T.
Yeah, that lasted like two episodes. They've both dumped him already. Because Augie is dumb and indiscreet. He and Annie just need to get back together and stay hooked up. Sometimes I can't tell if JT is really Aziz Ansari's cousin Harris, what with his love of USA network shows. It is the only network I watch regularly. If I am not haunting the movie channels or gaming, I am usually tuned into USA. GRACELAND, MOTHER FUCKERS~! SovietShooter
JT, what are your thoughts on Rush? I don't think it is too bad, but I can't see the premise working long term.
cwoy2j
Has the series finale of Wilfred been discussed? I thought it was pretty well done although it ended fairly predictably (in my opinion anyway).
pipGofern
JT, what are your thoughts on Rush? I don't think it is too bad, but I can't see the premise working long term. Funny thing about Rush is I remember on the pre-crash board there was once a topic asking what movie would make a good TV show. I thought this little remembered - but really awesome - David Duchovny movie called "Playing God" would be a perfect choice. In that movie - which is primarily remembered as one of Angelina Jolie's first featured roles - Duchovny played a drugged out doctor who lost his license and took up doing off-the-books operations for criminals to feed his habit. So when I saw the commercials for Rush I was like, "Yes! Somebody finally took my idea!" Unfortunately, the show isn't nearly as good as the movie. The lead guy doesn't play trainwreck well enough for it to work, in my opinion, and there's no palpable sense of danger. Now the USA show I have been really enjoying the hell out of it is Satisfaction. It's so far different than the standard paint-by-numbers USA fare that I don't think too many people watch it but it's really really good. If it aired on a network like AMC where they're willing to push the envelope a little bit more, I think it'd be something a lot more people talked about. As much as I loved Burn Notice and Psych, I give USA credit for finally doing something riskier with a bit of edge to it. Of course if you want to talk limited premises, though, I don't see how Satisfaction stretches their conceit beyond a season or two.
J.T.
JT, what are your thoughts on Rush? I don't think it is too bad, but I can't see the premise working long term. I think the show is okay but nothing special. Tom Ellis is a good actor but the character of Will Rush is nigh unlikeable. It could also stand to take a few hints from Royal Pains and have more medical stuff thrown in since the dude is a pretty much Hank Lawson with a drug habit. I like Satisfaction but it really is a show that should be on a premium cable channel where it could be so much more risque. It is by far the tamest thing I have ever seen that had male prostitution as a sub-plot. The second season of Sirens cannot start soon enough. Spritenaut 32
I've liked both Rush and Satisfaction so far. Rush had a fairly poor pilot, imo, but has held my interest since. Though I do agree with the comments above. One problem with Rush is that it lacks a sense of danger. The character is basically a riff on House but the premise and tone of the show owe more to the Duchovny movie, Playing God. Yet, there's not any real sense of danger or living on the edge. They're pushing things further than House could, but this is still a basic cable version of black market medicine, Also, since this is a USA show, I don't expect a whole lot of lasting character growth, which makes me wonder how long they can go without the gimmick getting tiresome (also a problem with House). Satisfaction has been very good, but has a really limited premise. It's USA trying to do a domestic drama and still appeal to their core audience. The pilot was very well written and the characters are interesting. Still, the premise seems more suited to being a mini-series. I'm already getting a little tired of the plot twists involving the madam, and Neal's rivalry with the gigolo seems like it should burn itself out soon. Also, I'm wondering how long the audience will stay interested in unlikable characters. The female lead was paying an escort to sleep with her. The male lead, upon finding out his wife was having an affair, became a male escort. Both characters have already had time to make better choices, but are still doing the same dumbheaded things, At least Rush's lead was meant to be unlikable (in the same way Greg House was an unlikable person). Off-topic, I'm not a big fan of USA Network shows in general, but I really enjoyed Suits this summer (first time i've watched more than a couple episodes). piranesi
As much as I've avoided the show for...almost decade now. Just cruising through the guide I remember they were still making pretty brilliant episodes into year 11 or so. That's pretty astounding.

piranesi
For me it was the Jockey episode. It screamed out how much they felt left behind by SOUTH PARK and were trying to get more bizarre and meaner to make up for it. I know a lot of people hated "Behind the Laughter" but I adored that ep. In my mind, it's kind of the fitting finale to the good years.
odessasteps
I dont know if it actually breaks down like this, but the show changed for the worse for me when they went digital. (Animation's dylan goes electric?)
Niners Fan in CT
I've been glued to the marathon for the past couple days. Every time I come into the room it's "Mr. Plow" or "Itchy and Scratchy Land" and I just have to sit there and watch... and then get sucked into the next one... It's going to be a long 12 days
