Brian Fowler
Just a heads up, if you happen to have used a credit card at Target since Black Friday, you might want to take a good look at your statement, and possibly request new cards and such, because apparently up to possibly millions of credit card numbers have been stolen. Apparently, it's only in the brick and mortar stores, not online, but, hey, we don't need any of you getting screwed out of money.
RIPPA
Here is the Target Notice The time period is Nov 27 - Dec 15. Hadn't been to Target in months. When does my wife go shopping there... Dec 14 Grr....
Matt D
I have a Target card. We get the baby food and what not there. I should probably check that
Reggie20x6
My bank told me that they're going to freeze my card every time they think it looks like there is a weird charge on it. Can't wait!
Pete
Ha! Last day I went shopping there was... November 26. Oh man.

jstout
Since Black Friday? Whew. I try to stay out of all department stores during the Christmas season. Makes buying Christmas gifts at the grocery store difficult (I keed!). "Here, mom, I bought you a bag of chocolate chips."
Joe Lucia
I went there on...December 16th. HAH. But I paid with cash, so whatever. Awful stuff though, surprised breaches like this don't happen around the holidays more often.
offspring515
Thanks for the heads up. My wife informs me (because I'm too stupid to check on my own obvs) that she hasn't been to target since Nov. 14.
Zimbra
So the one time I used my card at Target? Coming back from Thanksgiving when my girlfriend insisted we drive 30 minutes out of our way so she could get something from Starbucks. Awesome. piranesi
Suckers. I get all my household items at a huge discount from a Russian guy I met in an MP3 chat room. You've got to be smart, people!
Matt D
Suckers. Russian MP3, people! Great, now I have Koslov's theme stuck in my head again. Not only might I be losing money but I have to deal with that too. Thanks.

Greggulator
Our bank cancelled my wife's card in a preventive measure. We go to Target on a weekly basis, it seems like.
RIPPA
Besides already being compromised - the other worst part for folks is that those who are getting new cards probably won't have them in time for the holidays. So it's either gamble that your card isn't used illegally for the next week or hope you have other ways of purchasing your presents (or your food or gas, etc...) Brian Fowler
And if you were a bit absent minded and paid some fraudulent charges, you probably won't get the money back until after the holiday. This is a mess, plain and simple.

Cristobal
Son of a bitch. I JUST got my new card on the 11th after losing my wallet a couple weeks ago, and yep, I swiped it for a purchase at a Target on the 12th. I'm paid tomorrow, so I can take cash out and live off of that while yet another card gets sent to me, but it's annoying because the new wallet I bought is a trifold, and kind of a pain when it comes to cash. And then it occurred to me that buying that wallet WAS my purchase at Target. FML
Dog
Our bank cancelled my wife's card in a preventive measure. We go to Target on a weekly basis, it seems like. Is this a much bigger deal than I'm realizing? I also made purchases from Target during that time period but I have no intention of taking action until something fraudulent actually pops up. Is that ... dumb? Are we really expecting 40 million identity thefts?
Matt D
So my Redcard is awash with Xmas purchases, but none of them are anyone but mine's and my wife's card (as she did get some things in that period) seems okay so far.

Mine freezes my card every time I try to use it out of state, when I'm traveling for work - so some are going to be more vigilant than others. Burgundy LaRue
If your credit card is tied into Bank of America, you're probably OK. BoA will cancel a card quickly if anything seems fishy.
odessasteps
I always call ahead when i go away now, so my cards dont get frozen out from under me. That happened in canada once, but luckily it was the last day of the trip.
