Dolfan in NYC Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I must have dreamed a thousand dreams, been haunted by a million screams... But I can hear the marching feet, they're moving into the street. Well, well, well... looks like someone is sticking around for a while. We have a new World Champion, the very much not retiring Bryan Danielson. Yes, the pulled out some tricks we hadn't seen in years and ended the Swerve era. Now, did you read the news today? They say the danger has gone away! But I can see the fire's still alight... They're burning into the night. And time was up on the Timeless one's title reign, as our new Women's Champion Mariah May beat Toni to a pulp and beat her with her own move! But I wonder if that story's not done yet.... There's too many men, too many people, making too many problems! And there's not much love to go around. Can't you see this is the land of confusion? But now, we've got a VERY short runway to set up our next show... All Out!  Let's see what tricks All Elite has in store for us: Says here this is a "First To 10000 Flips Match". Sounds like fun! (It's insane how relevant this song still is, 40 years later.) Enjoy your (US) Labor Day Weekend! 4
The Natural Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Hangman Adam Page vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the first time ever on AEW Dynamite. Get in! 5

Lol poor Disturbed, getting denied their only other good song behind the heel Steve Austin music and the wah ah ah ah one. But alas, I must second this. 5 hours ago, The Natural said: Hangman Adam Page vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the first time ever on AEW Dynamite. Get in! Yoooo missed this announcement. Leonidas Posted August 28 Posted August 28 (edited) At Download in 2023 I was lucky enough to see Disturbed do their cover and then coincidentally Ghost also did their cover of Jesus He Knows Me, the crowd and I loved it all and I will not stand for this Genesis heavy metal cover gatekeeping . Surprised they're giving away Jamie's first match back on TV, but I guess this will build to a quick Saraya match at All Out. Edited August 28 by Leonidas 2 1 1

No. So who knows. Rick O'Shea and Fletcher should get the appetite primed for the Ospreay match nicely. 1
Curt McGirt Posted August 28 Posted August 28 "Land of Confusion" is an actual good Collins-era Genesis song so who would want frickin' Disturbed shitting it up? The concept is just... stupid. I could be at Dynamite tonight *sigh* I dunno. Chalk it up to my dislike (almost fear) of large crowds? Me being too lazy to find a seat, or too cheap? Not calling off work in time? It's crazy to think that Bryan Danielson (sorry everyone else) is gonna be a couple miles down the road from where I'm hobbling around the back room at Walmart setting up deliveries and pickups. I missed Eddy's last match on Smackdown too so it's just tradition, I suppose. 1 1 1
COLETTI Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Christian is going to interrupt Danielson and talk about being his kids' new father, isn't he? 1 3
AxB Posted August 28 Posted August 28 So nobody likes Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence then? Then again, your lead singer of Disturbed is a genocide apologist now.Â

I wouldn't quite use that word anymore considering what you just said but... It still absolutely stinks.
Curt McGirt Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Just for fun, here's a list of all the celebrities (that Wiki has, at least) for the "Land of Confusion" video. Spoiler Ronald Reagan Nancy Reagan Francois Mitterand Margaret Thatcher Ferdinand Marcos Henry Kissinger Benito Mussolini Ayatollah Khomeini Mikhail Gorbachev Muammar Gaddafi Ed McMahon Johnny Carson Walter Cronkite Richard Nixon Mr. Spock/Leonard Nimoy Bob Hope John Rambo/Sylvester Stallone Prince Pete Townshend Tina Turner Madonna Grace Jones David Bowie Bob Dylan Mick Jagger Bruce Springsteen Tina Turner Sting Cliff Richard Bette Midler Michael Jackson Madonna Bill Cosby Queen Elizabeth II Princess Diana Hulk Hogan Pope John Paul II I think I counted 37. Swear I saw Barbra Striesand, but that may have just been Bette Midler (boy I will take one of those over the other).Â
Nice Guy Eddie Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Forget Disturbed, this is the best cover of Land of Confusion. https://youtu.be/mBxlqbxyJwc?si=e2oo0jM6fra6shX7 1
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I've never been able to tell the difference between Disturbed, Staind, Killswitch Engaged, Puddle of Mudd etc. etc. It's all Attitude Era butt rock to me. I didn't know the OH AH AH AH AH song was Disturbed. I definitely didn't know they covered Genesis. Which one did Let the Bodies hit the Floor? As for the show I predict Callis family bullshit that leads to Mark Davis' return and we get Ospreay/Ricochet vs. Aussie Open next week 1 1 1
Log Posted August 28 Posted August 28 It's a shame that Ricochet and Chuck Taylor won't get to have a match on national tv. 1

COLETTI Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Seeing Killswitch Engage lumped up with Puddle Of Mudd is the most upset I've been in a while 2 2

At risk of turning this into the music sub forum, I would go to bat for the first Staind record (well, first on a label) being a decent heavy rock record. Killswitch Engage was way more metalcore than post-Creed jaw rock like Puddle of Mudd. At least up to the third record. After that I'd say they dropped the "core" and metal influences in favor of more typical hard rock. 3

All aboard the Harley Cameron hype train by the way. Every week she has her "best match of her career", Britt, Willow and tonight against Jamie. She'll be a champion in AEW mark my words. 2
southofheavy Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Land of Confusion can suck it, it's ALL about Misunderstanding. Don't even get me started on Phil putting the Earth, Wind and Fire horn section all over his records for a spell. So good. BUT TONIGHT, Jamie Hayter is going to take Harley Cameron's head off and that's really all that matters.Â
The Natural Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) Bryan Danielson vs. Jack Perry is underwhelming for Danielson's first AEW World Championship defence at All Out. Jack Perry fucking sucks. Edited August 29 by The Natural 4 1
Cobra Commander Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Things I Remember From This Week of AEW Dynamite: Moxley is back, and he wants to talk to Darby Hangman and Swerve are having a PPV match MJF and Garcia are having a PPV match The Grizzled Young Scotsmen are here Hook and Roderick are having a PPV match Mone is having a party Mariah is not having a party PAC and Ospreay are having a PPV match? Danielson and Perry are having a PPV match PPV in 10 days!
The Natural Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Looking forward to Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Adam Page III inside a Steel Cage. 2

Jack Perry fucking sucks. That's for sure. I was going to say basically the same thing, but decided to scrap it because Jack Perry isn't worth it. It should have been Christian as Danielson's first challenger. 1
