Craig H
Apparently no one wants the ND OC gig, so that's cool. Can't imagine why with a big ol question mark at QB, no WR corps, and a couple decent RBs.
Doc Townsend
Somehow did not know that Lee Corso dropped an f-bomb on live tv until just now. The clip is hilarious. I’m still laughing.
Brian Fowler
Here's a weird little bit from the Big XII/Texas and OU thing: Michigan ended up playing a key role in getting Fox to agree to letting them leave early, by agreeing to flip their 2024/2027 home and home series. Texas will now come to Ann Arbor in 2024, and Michigan will go to Austin in 2027. It gives Fox the big Michigan/Texas game in 2024 as a bit of a make good for losing the two biggest TV draws in their Big XII package a year early. EVA
And Georgia is replacing him with…Mike Bobo, most recently the mastermind of some hideous offenses at South Carolina and Auburn. That is a HUUUUUGE downgrade. Should definitely give pause to anyone who wants to go ahead and hand UGA the three-peat.
EVA
Meanwhile Notre Dame is apparently now a poverty program that won’t pay a buyout to get the OC their coach wanted.
EVA
So the word around the campfire is that the PAC-12’s media negotiations are going badly and today it broke that CBS and the Turner networks have dropped out of negotiations. That is GRIM news for the PAC-12. At this point, you have to assume that any schools that were already considering other options are going to get more aggressive in their pursuit of finding a safe landing spot, and some schools that planned to stay put are probably going to start looking around. It is, however, good news for other conferences that might have an interest in poaching PAC-12 schools, as those schools have lost a lot of leverage and would likely be willing to accept less favorable financial terms just to land somewhere stable. Chaos
I wonder if that adds pressure for ND to join the B1G/SEC/ACC bidding war to become a member.
RIPPA
Quote Notre Dame is expected to promote tight ends coach Gerad Parker to offensive coordinator, sources confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday, ending a roller-coaster search that initially targeted outside candidates to replace Tommy Rees, who was hired as Alabama's offensive coordinator. After talks with Kansas State offensive coordinator Collin Klein and Utah offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig fizzled, the Irish turned to Parker, who spent two seasons as West Virginia's offensive coordinator (2020-21) and was Purdue's interim head coach in 2016. Parker had a formal interview on Tuesday with head coach Marcus Freeman that pushed him to the top of the list of candidates, sources said. FootballScoop.com first reported the hire is expected. Wisconsin assistant Gino Guidugli is expected to be the next quarterbacks coach at Notre Dame, a source told ESPN's Pete Thamel. Guidugli spent the past two seasons as the playcaller at Cincinnati and was Desmond Ridder's primary coach. Guidugli followed new Badgers head coach Luke Fickell from Cincinnati to Wisconsin in December.

Craig H
Guidugli is a great hire. Perfectly balanced with the shit show that was getting an OC and resorting to just promoting from within. Again, you're going to have to try to be worse than the anemic offense Tommy Rees had designed so pretty much anyone would have been an upgrade unless they went with OC by committee. RIPPA
Bama has hired Charlie Strong as "defensive analyst"
EVA
There are some funny stories out there about Charlie Strong’s first tenure as an analyst at Bama in 2020. During the two weeks that Saban was out on Covid protocol, he watched all the practices from a multi-cam setup at home. Strong was given an earpiece to wear so he could relay instructions from Saban, and Saban just spent all practice screaming into his ear like Vince McMahon at gorilla.

Cobra Commander
New Mexico State is leaving the Island of Misfit Toys Basketball Conference (they're in the WAC in Basketball and an independent in Football) to join UTEP in Conference USA next year. Unless the Pac 12 gets really desperate and adds UTEP or something. Just in time tor NMSU to probably be bad at basketball for a bit post-massive scandal. To the best of my knowledge, anything close to this is unprecedented in modern times.
