  1. Translation: "I have purchased two monkeys that I will poke with a stick from time to time because it amuses me to hear them screech."

  2. I honestly don't think it's hyperbole to say that the following image/video clip is the most iconic in WWF/E history. It was what launched the career of the biggest star of their most successful period. I honestly don't think the moment, the match, or the double turn works nearly as well without the blade job. The blood is the most vivid detail that shows that Bret went from a babyface who is trying to win to a heel who is trying to hurt his opponent. The passing out in a pool of his own blood instead of quitting is what changed Steve Austin from a bully heel to a babyface ass kicker who is willing to die before he quits. You take away the blood and both Bret's viciousness and Austin's courage are dialed back a couple of notches. With that said, I agree with most of what you said about less blood making blood far more meaningful.

  3. They might as well tape it in Miami while at the port(Where the cruise starts). Just in case they loose the feed for whatever reason. Or do it live on the boat while at sea. Then run an “Overboard Match” guest ref’d by Goldie Hawn, and Kurt Russell picking up the loser in a boat following the cruise ship. Goldie Hawn’s shoe closet somehow gets used in this match.

  6. Here's the thing about Michael Jackson that neither The Beatles nor Elvis can say...Everybody loved Michael Jackson. The Beatles were huge...I can't deny that, but how many black people were listening to The Beatles? Elvis was big, but he was not the biggest star for black people either. Michael Jackson was the biggest star in music for everyone.

  7. There are plenty of reasons to not like Hulk Hogan. I was not even the biggest Hulk Hogan fan as a kid, but if you don't understand how big of a star Hulk Hogan was, it's because you weren't there. Steve Austin's run was technically bigger, because of the amount of wrestling available during his run, but he wasn't Hulk Hogan. Seriously, I am a massive Steve Austin fan and generally disliked Hulk Hogan even before I knew he was a racist, but I was there for both runs and Hogan was a bigger star. There may be another Steve Austin, but I don't think it's possible to create another Hulk Hogan. Steve Austin is like Beyonce, but Hogan was like Michael Jackson. I've heard people try to say that Beyonce has reached Michael Jackson's level of stardom, and everyone who was alive during Michael Jackson's peak understand how nonsensical of a statement that is...nobody is Michael Jackson just like nobody is Hogan. I don't think that level of stardom is even possible any more.

  9. Yes, but the blood, guts, and self mutilation thing was also kind of a ploy to get WCW off the air. He wrote that letter to one of those government councils that was talking about gangsta rap back in the day. Vince also did a lot of stuff trying to stop WCW from expanding in the 1990s even though their expansion wasn't anything close to what he spent the entire previous decade doing. He literally looked at WCW, saw them doing everything he built his entire business around, and then cried and said, "this isn't fair," when WCW did it to him. Vince McMahon is about as loathsome of a human being that has ever existed.

  10. People that consistently don’t have designated drivers in case they party too hard, are real fucking assholes. Just think, he probably drives impaired frequently, and we only hear about the times he gets caught doing it. We probably don’t hear about the hundred other times he doesn’t get caught. I worry about the one time he isn’t caught, and doesn’t make it back home.

  11. First a pedantic nitpick: Michael Jackson didn't buy the Beatles catalog. He bought the publishing rights. He got nothing for mechanical reproduction, he just got part of the royalties for the song writing. Paul McCartney actually made a decent chunk of his own fortune doing the same thing (although, in his case, he then went and made sure people like Buddy Holly's widow actually got their share of the royalties, something that hadn't really been happening beforehand) As far as "who was a bigger star, MJ or The Beatles?" It's not really a question with an answer. I mean, The Beatles sold more records, both in the U.S. and worldwide, but Thriller was a significantly bigger, more successful album than anything they did. The Beatles were deeply influenced by Black American music, and it's definitely unfair that their cover of Twist & Shout was a billion times more popular than both The Top Notes original and The Isley Brothers version. The Beatles in turn influenced everybody that came after them (and some who came before them. Ike and Tina and Arthea both did some amazing Beatles covers that I can't recommend highly enough) To tie this back into Hogan/Austin... Hogan was a bigger mainstream star. People who didn't watch wrestling all knew exactly who Hulk Hogan was. But Steve Austin was a bigger star in pro wrestling. He sold more tickets, more ppvs, and more merchandise.

  14. Well sure because Hogan had main evented what 6 Wrestlemania’s before Austin even debuted much less became the phenom he did. That’s just age catching up with a person and the audience as well as the people that saw Hogan as children are over 40 now. It’s pretty dismissive to think it’s inexplicable to explain the Hogan phenomenon. He had massive charisma and was perfect for the times. He was a super hero come to life just like Austin is the darker, edgier anti-hero who was perfect for the attitude era. It’s just the generational shift, it’s not some mystery.

  17. It’s either the infamous Nitro Regal Vs. Benoit, or the parking lot brawl with Findlay you’re thinking of. The Benoit one is super funny because it was one of the first nWo on commentary spots, and Hall struggles to cover for the hardway blood. Benoit & Regal would later re-do that match for the Pillman memorial that is on the Benoit dvd.

  26. That writes itself. Shane adds Drew to the match to make it a handicap match. Reigns then imposes himself on things in the lead up so it becomes a tag. Only Owens' career is on the line though. Reigns turns on Owens during the match. Owens has to become the Masked Canadian in a total Midnight Rider angle. Reigns is heel. Wait, why are you all putting me on ignore?

  27. That's what BMG and Columbia House were for - the original "sent to you in discreet packaging" service to get you all that sweet, weird music you didn't want the cute chick at Warehouse Music to see you buying even though you've been renting wrestling tapes from there for years and would never have a shot at her anyway.

  30. People keep asking about a big surprise for the first show, something like Luger, but honestly, they don't need that shit. This doesn't need to be WCW redux. What I want more than anything is a good 2 hour tv show where it doesn't feel like a chore to watch.

  34. So I saw @OSJ's post in the locked thread in the WWE forum, about how the best way to rehabilitate Seth Rollins would be to put him in a trio, with a violent loose cannon and a Samoan destroyer. And I was wondering what OSJ had against Simon Gotch, that he was giving Seth Rollins Gotch's spot in Contra Unit?
