  2. Yeah I laughed when that happened. Looks like the Bellas got Klunk from Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines to do their Tweets.

  9. "The WWE universe" sounds unbelievably natural coming from Warrior. Not sure what that says for the term, but it really does sound like something he would have used. The WWF universe.

  14. Decided to go with a new avatar for the new board. The idea of a caveman robot is hilarious to me. And, just for some perspective, I've been reading the board since I was in middle school. I'm now about to begin work on my PhD. I have no problem telling people how big a part of my life pro wrestling is; they usually laugh a little but then realize it's a nerdy passion of mine and accept it. However, it is much more difficult to tell people how big a part of your life a collection of strangers on the internet you don't know and rarely interact with are. The DVDVR community has been a near-daily constant of mine for a very long time and, when you've moved around as much as I have, that means a lot. I love this place and all its quirks and fads, all of its discussions and combined knowledge. It feels as much like home as any internet site can for me, and I am so glad to have it back. Thank you for all of your hard work and time getting things back up and running. I hope you understand how much your dedication means to the people it serves. I still think Miz is underrated. And I'm glad to be back.

  15. I was there live tonight, and had a really great time. Counting the pre-show match, I thought 4 matches were worth seeking out. Sheamus was just so awesome. Dude gives absolutely zero fucks. The bumps he took and shook off made me want to see him as a no selling monster heel. A couple moments stood out for me that probably didn't read on television. One was a ten or eleven year old boy with a 'Who booked the crap?' sign which he kept holding up. That sign made me glad Bray Wyatt didn't come to Philly. The second was a dude trying to start a 'You still got it' chant for RVD as he was getting his ass kicked right at the start of the match. Also after the show, my girlfriend almost got in to a fender bender with Green Lantern Fan.

  18. Stop hating on Tony Stark! I don't ever remember him doing anywhere close to the damage that Gipsy Danger was doing. Tony is more responsible than rolling in a suit that is 260 feet tall.

  19. I don't want this to sound condescending, but maybe one of the reasons UFC gets so much more coverage than the Japanese wrestling promotions or other MMA companies is because Dave has more access to UFC stuff and is able to write more fulfilling pieces on UFC than the others. I haven't subscribed to the WON since 2007 or 2008 but really, what is there to report on with the Japanese promotions other than show recaps? I can't imagine he has the same inside/backstage info with those compared to WWE, TNA or UFC. I get that it's frustrating for those who don't care about MMA and feel it's taking up space that could be better used for other wrestling promotions, but maybe Dave really just doesn't have anything else to report.

  23. Virus v. Blue Panther from May 12 is a great Lightning Match and an excellent look at what Virus can do on the mat with another elite guy, but because of the nature of the match it feels more like an appetizer than something next level. The best non-Lightning Match he's been a part of is probably Casas/Valiente/Stuka Jr. v. Virus/Vangellys/Fuego from 6/14. Having said that, I think his individual performance may have been better in the 4/30 trios teaming with Puma and Namajague v. Valiente/Angel del Oro/Diamante. Of course Virus is awesome in everything so you can't really go wrong. With the Traumas, I think II has been way more impressive this year. T I's best performance was probably in the Traumas vs. Virus & Valiente - Chilanga Mask 5/19, which was JIP, but his section with Valiente was outstanding. T II is tougher to nail down. I thought he looked incredible in this match, but it's heavily clipped http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAe8TlEeDBA Beyond that I he had a match in Feb v. Angel and Oficial 911 that is one of the best triple threat matches I've ever seen and a total war of a match. I also really liked him in Negro Navarro/Trauma I/Trauma II vs. Danny Casas/Heavy Metal/Veneno, IWRG 4/21, where his mat section with Veneno was shockingly great and that's certainly not something due to the genius of fucking Veneno. Also I fucking loathe how when you c/p something on this board it defaults to this light color even on things you didn't C/P.

  26. BTW - I installed a Skin called Dustblue which we had on the old board (or a really similar version). So for the folks looking for a skin in the dark/non-eyeball melting variety, you might want to try that one

  29. If I get everyone worked up about the idea of doing a Wargames with Brock/Axel/Shield vs Punk/Bryan/three guys so that they waste a couple of pages on their cool fantasy booking scenarios on how to fill those three spots, before they ultimately get disappointed because it never happens and they hate WWE for never doing their ideas, is that considered trolling?

  32. Wenger missing out Wanyama is truly mystifying, especially since a defensive midfielder should be a top priority, and he's half the price of Fellaini while having the potential to be just as good. That's the type of signing he would have made in his sleep back in the day. I really have no fucking clue what Arsenal are doing, especially after talking up how they were going to spend this year. A comedy bid for Suarez and protracted negotiations over Higuain that feel increasingly as though they will lead to nowhere? But hey, Wenger scored a French prospect on a free! Plus ça change, n'est-ce pas?

  33. What bothers me in the aftermath of this (beyond the fact that I think a murderer walked away a free man) is the ongoing willful ignorance when it comes to race. "This isn't a racial case!" and "Race didn't play a part in this!" makes me feel like the people espousing such views are not connected to reality. In America race plays a role in everything. Also Zimmerman's brother droning on and on about how his brother sponsors black kids last night was getting under my skin. It was basically a "but I have black friends!" defense.

  34. I don't feel like reading this whole thread, and I don't feel like even risking an argument, but here's what I want to say: I can see no possible way around the idea that Zimmerman clearly provoked the altercation, and then Zimmerman shot the person he provoked. If that IS legal, it shouldn't be. If it's not legal, he should be headed to prison. *sigh*

  35. A lot of them are lying. Because when you're in wrestling, everyone has to pretend they hate wrestling. It bugs the fuck out of me. We do a shitty job of defending our business.

  36. How a kid going out to go get an Arizona Iced Tea and Skittles, and then ends up murdered, then gets no justice is just mind boggling.

  37. Please do not misunderstand me. There is a racial element but it is used to keep the lower classes at each others throats. It comes down to social classes. Racism is a symptom of that.

  38. The people who are incurring my wrath right now are the supposedly sympathic idiots who are all "Sorry for the Martin family, but this is the right verdict, I hope they can move on with their lives." Look, if you think the prosecution goofed or you're crazy enough to think George Zimmerman is some sort of hero, whatever. But what gives you the fucking right to tell someone WHO LOST THEIR SON TO GUN VIOLENCE to move on? Fuck that mentality. Bet they wouldn't say that if it was their child.

  42. I've been working a temp job for the past 3 months and I got offered a permanent position yesterday. I'm getting a raise, paid vacation, insurance, the whole schmear. And a bunch of people I work with went out of their way to tell me what a good job I've been doing and how much they appreciate it. That shit has never happened to me before. After 4 years of being un- and under-employed it feels good to have some security. One of my friends from HS is getting married this weekend, so I'm going to see a bunch of friends that I haven't seen in years. Two of my best friends from back then are on the way over to my house right now to grill steaks and shoot the shit. Doesn't get much better than that. And I'm glad to see all of you people again. I've been reading this board for going on 15 years now and the internet just wasn't the same without it.
