EVA Posted August 29 Posted August 29 It’s actually kinda wild to me that DVDVR of all places has memory holed the fact that Jack Perry is a great in-ring guy. I mean, I realize it’s been a while since he’s been able to show it, first with the suspension and then mostly doing garbage-style Elite stuff since he came back, but we used to have a longer memory than this. He can GO. Danielson/Perry is going to be awesome. 11 5

He's not the most interesting choice but he will get heat in Chicago for sure and no one cares if he eats a loss. He was actually mega-over at that New Japan Chicago show in the spring. Another reason that using him in this spot on a short build makes a lot of sense. 5 2
Ziggy Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I'd much rather see Danielson face someone more qualified on PPV than Jack Perry but if Danielson is one of the greatest ever , he should be able to have a great match with him. I've always been for giving guys and girls chances to get experience wrestling guys at Bryan's level. I wasn't expecting Moxley back so soon. I rejuvenated Mox is a game changer for AEW and is obviously leading to something big.
EVA Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I’m afraid WWE broke Ricochet. When he got booked vs. Fletcher tonight, I thought it was clear the intent was for him to put on a mind blowing performance, kinda like they did with Ospreay in the spring. A banger that would reset the perception of him. But then he just went out and put on a bang average Smackdown match. 5 1 1
Just Adam Bay Bay Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I’m thinking Christian cashes in either during or after the match too. That way they can have Killswitch turn on him for good, and just be done with that too. Plus did they really need to have Bryan face Okada or anyone of that level? Clearly the Hangman/Swerve cage match is the main event and the main selling point. I’ll definitely be buying the show knowing there’s that plus PAC vs Ospreay. Heck those two matches alone would get my $50. 1

Which is a shock for how much I still blame that fucker for being the sole reason CM Punk left. Testament to how good he has been in this piece of shit role. It makes sense outside of me confusing myself thinking we were gonna get Christian first, but that was me misunderstanding the stipulation. 1
Go2Sleep Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Perry is about as filler as it gets, but it is probably the best time to get some use out of him. He'll get heat in Chicago, he can have 20 good minutes with Danielson, no one will care if the match ends with a ridiculous amount of bullshit, and it only takes up 10 days of our time. Very interested to see Mox and Marina team up and how that plays with BCC. Okada vs. freaking Brother Zay for the honor of Mercedes is such a bizarre meld of sports entertainment and "only in AEW" weird match combos. I love it. 3
The Green Meanie Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Is Willow in The Conglomeration? Is Hook in The Conglomeration? Is Marina Shafir in The BCC? Is Pac in The BCC? Is Mox still in The BCC?

DreamBroken Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) the surprise Moxley opening was definitely cool and built a lot of intrigue. I dig a new role for Marina Shafir as well. Really good opener from Hangman/Ishii. Loved the Swerve/Hangman segment and set up for the steel cage. All Star tag was fun. Roderick got screwed! But I'm down for a spinoff in to Roderick/Hook. Bryan/Perry should be a lot of fun in Chicago. Initially I didn't think Bryan would defend here, with Darby having the Grand Slam shot, and thought Ospreay/Pac might headline since Moxley/Orange headlined for the International last year. But looking like it should be another stacked card coming up. On a side note, as seemingly the only fan here of Disturbed and that general era/style of music, I gotta show some love to ALL the bands mentioned on page 1, and Phil Collins! I've gotten so used to the Undisputed Kingdom theme always hitting, but the mention of killswitch Engage has me missing when Roderick first came in with the End of Heartache theme, along with them referencing when he first debuted and beat Jericho in that fun falls count anywhere outside. TheVileOne Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Kind of an underwhelming way to end AEW Dynamite coming off of a pay-per-view. Also, the start of the big angle with Moxley culminates in Marina Shafir awkwardly smashing a bunch of cab drivers who wandered into the backstage area? Wasn't very exciting. Also, no response from Darby Allin at all? If this is AEW's way to start a big new company-wide angle, seems like they could've handled it a lot better. Also, making the historically awful and not ready-for-TV Marina Shafir part of the angle doesn't inspire confidence. 1
Casey Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) Jack Perry isn’t going to get heat in Chicago. He got cheered at the NJPW show in Chicago, and they chanted Fuck CM Punk. They chanted the same thing at Wembley during Perry’s match last Sunday, if I’m remembering right. The anti-Punk AEW fans far outweigh the pro-Punk AEW fans, especially in Chicago. Besides, if the only way this motherfucker can get heat (or relevancy) is based off something that happened over a year ago, off screen, and involving someone who isn’t there anymore (and has moved on from vaguely mentioning AEW stuff on WWE TV - not his fault if a reporter asks a question) isn’t that a giant, flashing warning sign?? Hail Sabin Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Remember the last person to beat Danielson in AEW was Jack Perry in the Anarchy in the Arena match. 8
SovietShooter Posted August 29 Posted August 29 7 hours ago, Kevin Wilson said: If it makes the anti-Perry feel any better (which seems to be all of you), this isn't a real defense. Its a 10 day build-up for a match that may or may not have a real ending but rather set up something else. I am guessing Mox is going to turn on Danielson sooner or later and they just picked a heel out of a hat they could plug in for a quick B Level defense to get to the real story which will be Mox/Darby/Danielson. Which is exactly how you build Perry up to the level everyone here is pointing out that he isn't at. You're going to see the TNT Champion go toe-to-toe and hold his own with the best to ever do it. 1 1
Casey Posted August 29 Posted August 29 The only saving grace is that this might be the main event (Swerve/Hangman is the other option) and that means I can turn it off and catch anything that happens post-match on Twitter. If I wanted to watch Raven, I’d just go and watch Raven stuff. I don’t need to see Luke Perry’s son do a bad rip-off of it. God I miss A Boy & His Dinosaur so much, those were the days. This Perry just does nothing for me (plus, well… y’know). 1 1
Matt D Posted August 29 Posted August 29 There are only so many Bryan matches left on this run. People should make the best of it. 3 2
peterien Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Whatever way it was meant,“this isn’t your company anymore” is a killer line. Mox looked great. 1
The Natural Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I'm looking forward to every All Out match as the card currently stands more than a Bryan Danielson. I honestly think that's a first for me.
The Natural Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I thought Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Adam Page would either be a no rope barbed wire match or a no rope exploding barbed wire deathmatch. Doing the latter to make up for his Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley ended in THAT way at Revolution 2021.
Octopus Posted August 29 Posted August 29 5 hours ago, Casey said: , off screen, Only thing I’m going to add, it became on screen when they aired the backstage footage. Outside of that, I know how you feel about the situation and the people involved and respect it. Not that long ago I was with you. IDK if there was a merging in the timelines or something but I’m really fascinated by a lot of what’s going on.

I slept on it, like it was some serious issue haha, and this morning while still disappointed, im curious to see Perry's heel shtick mesh with Danielson's "Farewell Tour" 1
hammerva Posted August 29 Posted August 29 While I generally am tired of the "company takeover" angles especially when you supposedly have one going right now with the Elite, it would be cool if Moxley's group was just a bunch of guys from Bloodsport. While it would suck that the BCC is dead, a faction with others like Josh Barnett and Timothy Thatcher would rule 1

Don't let me down again, TK. Exactly my thoughts about Perry, Danielson will pick him apart quick and heal up from the intense Swerve match here.
