They dragged out the break up for the Bloodline for like 2 years and have rushed the reunion and squashing of all the beefs into a month. And to overcome a group ran by a guy who’s never won anything of note. Feels like they really could have done way better with all of this but need to force their booking around the gimmick PPV as usual5 points

As a longtime DVDVR member, of course I’m partial to an old school piledriver angle. HOWEVER…can we all acknowledge that the piledriver absolutely sucked? If you’re gonna sell this as a heinous act, you gotta get Randy’s head closer than a foot from the ground.3 points

Candice/Bayley was decent. PD/DIY was strange. Never expected Pretty Deadly to be squashed by a pissed off Ciampa. I enjoyed it though a part of me is disappointed to see Pretty Deadly used like this. Will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts if/when Ciampa and Gargano go full heel. I think MCMG are still a bit too new to most of the audience for them to be favored. Was not expecting piledrivers to be back on the menu. I like how they used it with the Orton/Owens feud. Bianca/Jade vs. Nia/Tiffany was pretty decent while it lasted. Finish could have been executed a bit better, but was fine for pushing the angle with Candice trying to replace Tiffany as Nia's buddy. MCMG vs. A-Town Down Under was good. Dug the later backstage scene setting up the Street Profits/MCMG for the tag titles next week. Ciampa trying to murder the Profits for his heel turn should get plenty of reaction. Even hearing the rumors about half a year ago I was still surprised to see the announcement of the United States Women's title. I want to be happy about it, but I feel the main roster is still struggling way too much beyond the made names to really make a new singles title worthwhile. Hopefully the booking catches up fast to make it work. Smackdown in particular still feels like it has too small a women's division. The opening and closing segments with the Bloodline took up more of the show than I would have liked, but were both good with the ending being one of the highlights of the show. It continues to impress me how they manage to build and pay aspects of the story off. Not a strong night match wise outside of MCMG vs. A-Town Down Under. Segment wise a bit better though the longer ones still run longer than I would like. Solid show storytelling wise though it could have been stronger as a whole.3 points

Where's the joke here? I don't watch AEW as assiduously as I should, but I love Kip Sabian as a ludricous comedy midcarder. I have to psyche myself up to watch a lot of SRS BSNS stuff, y'all are not selling me on Adam Cole's return; but Kip Sabian's goofy ass is something I've always got a minute for. It helps of course, that I frequently don't need more than a minute for it.3 points

Opening Bloodline segment felt a little weaker than a lot of recent ones but sold Roman's old habits being hard to break. Did like Jacob interrupting as it's nice to see him get to say more than "I love you Solo." Thought Bayley and Candice built into a good match as it shifted to Candice being in control and Bayley being able to work from under. The finish felt like it landed a bit flat as Candice's faking the injury seemed so obvious that Bayley didn't look particularly smart for not falling for it and Candice looked kinda dumb for trying it. I liked the idea of Owens piledriving Orton and it being treated like a big deal with the stretcher job/ambulance ride. It did feel like the weight given to the idea of the piledriver was coming out of no where but if they commit to the idea I feel like it could be a good story tool later on. I do feel like Cole and Graves handled it well on commentary. Interesting to see whether we get Johnny turning heel or a DIY split. That said if they split them up, I will riot if they replace "No One Will Survive" again. I enjoyed Jade/Bianca vs. Nia/Tiffy as they continue to do a really good job of getting over the Women's Tag Titles as being important. It's amazing that we're at a point where there are so many women that can tease/do strength spots with Nia as they had Bianca tease a KOD on Nia and had Jade reverse a suplex spot on her(with a bit of a rough landing for Nia.) With Indi being gone, I'm fine with working to put Candice with Nia. MCMG vs. A-Town Down seemed like it could have been a little shorter. There wasn't anything particularly bad about it, it was just a lot of Grayson and Theory in control with a crowd that really didn't care. Am looking forward to MCMG/Street Profits next week. A women's secondary title! Happy to see the Women's US Title being introduced since it will give a chance/storylines (hopefully) for a lot of women. Solo and Roman getting us to War Games felt a little wooden. Sami not being with Solo's Bloodline seemed pretty predictable but was still a cool moment with Sami hitting Solo with the Helluva Kick. Ending the show with the OG Bloodline being back with the 1's to the sky was a good closing moment. They did make sure to establish that War Games is 5-on-5, so guess we have a few weeks 2-3 weeks for them to set up the 5th man for both teams. Solid show but probably a bit of a step down from the previous weeks. Next week's episode with Nia/Naomi for the Women's Title and MCMG/Profits should hopefully be a bit better.3 points

This is legit one of the greatest road reports ever. Can I just say, as an old head who recently smoked up after probably 30 years of laying off, but said "fuck it" because it was my bday and it's legal now where I live...today's shit is insane. I was on another planet in a very bad way. I still have one pre roll left and plan on doing a little at a time. Jesus Christ.3 points

Mortos is one of my fave AEW guys and even I can't pretend him having to act conflicted all match wasn't awful. I get that ultimately he's a guy with a goat head mask but not everything has to be so goofy, you know? Just let him be awesome, that was working fine.2 points

The botch Nia and Bayley had in their last match was actually some weird hurricanrana attempt that I'm not sure why either thought it was a good idea. Bayley's actual powerbomb on Nia at Summerslam was more or less perfect and an insane showcase of power from Bayley.2 points

Quick note for @Death From Above that I hope comes off as encouraging… The first whatever number of pounds comes off quickly and relatively easily due to a lot of factors. It slows down and you may see times when you lose very little (fraction of a pound per week) or maybe even go up slightly. Just stick with it. The scale is a lagging indicator. How you feel, how you look, how your clothes fit, being able to lift more, run farther, get through 8 minute abs without wanting to die…all these mean more than the scale. As long as it’s trending down overall, you’re fine. Never let a scale number discourage you when you know you’re doing well otherwise. It’s going to take a long time but it’s worth it and we’re all here for you.2 points

Watched Conclave last night as a recovering Catholic (TM Stephanie Miller) these sorts of films fascinate me, I disagree that its a soap opera or overly self important or any of that. What it is , is a nice companion piece to Calvary a film that explores the ancient entity trying to find its place in the modern world. as Tobias Forge said "The catholic church is both beautiful and terrifying like The Alien" best not get too close2 points

I went to Dynamite. I WOULD have had good seats if a third of the show wasn’t in the entrance aisle. I enjoyed the show eventually. Thing is? You go and buy tickets to something weeks in advance of the show with zero forecast of how you’ll feel about on the day. Day comes and I’m in a shitty mood, tired, and annoyed. To the surprise of no one. I proceed to hit the shitfuck outta my vapes and later a half dozen mini-bong rips once I got to my friends house in Manchester. Jeremy tells me that he has been seeing the AEW trucks coming into town since Monday. Which surprises me a bit since I figured a Dynamite set up in the arena would have been (at most) an overnight effort. In our pregame sesh I was bitching about the lack of exploitation of AEWs undercard when so many of their top tier guys are injured, elsewhere, and all fucked off for a reason (or no reason). Satnam Singh is RIGHT THERE! A legit GIANT that if booked carefully could be a huge draw. After all turning on the gravitas when you’re a giant is a mere flick of the switch. FFW to the show and Colt Cabanas out to take on Singh in the opener. I was pleased. I was fucking rrrrrrripped at this point experiencing not one but TWO highs. It was mostly comedy gaga that was fun but brief. They protected Satnam pretty well by keeping it short and decisive. But like I said. Make him mean. By the time the tag opener started. The crowd had got really loud and it was really fucking with me. Darby hit that post and he just kept spinning. Ran into a co-worker who moonlights as security at the arena. He is a few years older than me and came into wrestling during the Backlund era. He was pleased the Bucks weren’t on the show. Makes sense. He bonds immediately with Jeremy over this. Just Drew wept. Mox is a scary looking dude up close. I like this Hurt Syndicate group. Never saw the WWE stuff. Shelton hopefully will get his run. Place your bets on him taking another springboard into a super kick and THIS TIME he kicks out. Hayter may be bae. But she doesn’t seem to have her sea legs back yet. Seemed like the match was built to be more than it was. I thought the Cole/Black match was ok. But only because I’m baffled as to what is going on. It didn’t register well the whole “Warriors Death” finish with me or the people around me. I don’t have the same problems with Cole that some folks do. But it’s definitely a bad (and familiar) place to be for Cole to have that WWE flavored “fans ironically go against the grain” situation. Why isn’t Roddy screaming “ADAM” every time we see him? Wasn’t that over? Why is Omegas comeback happening in Japan? Now I’m off to watch the broadcast. I still love you AEW.2 points

AEW's locker room, it's not very leaky. Like, we don't know what goes on backstage there. Brodie Lee got sick, nobody knew, nobody talked about it. Which does mean that sometimes certain narratives can take hold, and become widely believed and clung on to, even though there's no way to know if they're actually true or not. Malakai Black is injured or retiring or going back to WWE, Chris Jericho attempted something icky with Kylie Rae, Something happened backstage with Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway. None of these are things we know. They are things we have heard speculation about. They might be true, they might be lies, they might be more complicated than that. We don't know. But by the gods a lot of people seem to think these stories are nailed to the House of Lords.2 points

Yeah, it was Progress that WWE did a deal with. Progress Wrestling barely survived, under new ownership, with basically none of the pre-WWE involvement roster still there. Now the fact that it had been a hotbed for Speaking Out related incidents is connected to the fact that it came to that too, but nobody is pretending that 2024 Progress is anything but a shadow of what it was in 2018.1 point

I'm about 4 hours into Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and once I got used to the combat system I can say I'm digging it. The board game mini game is also oddly fun but I do love me some board games. Also Terra is an idiot. Not even a loveable idiot like Sora, just an idiot. And as someone who only played the mainline games before and didn't know all of the story, imagine my confusion when I started playing KH3 after not touching any of the games in almost a decade in 2020. It's making a bit more sense now.1 point

The radio station where I’m eating just playing Let’s Hear It for the Boy, followed by Footloose. I did hear say someone say the country was set back 40 years this week. Guess this station took it to heart. update: Less than an hour later, they also placed the Flashdance theme by Irene Cara. If I wait long enough, will I hear Maniac?1 point

Speaking of forgiveness, once Willow is back from her concussion, we just need a 1 minute segment where Statlander apologises and begs for forgiveness and they hug it out, then the face turn won't fall so flat. Otherwise the abrupt change in character is very WWElike, treating the audience like their memories are only 1 show in length.1 point

It is gonna be really funny when he gets pissed off and shitcans him. The bad thing is 'TNA Stink' involves me not remembering a damn thing about a wrestler, just that they had a goofy look and/or were so vanilla they made no impact (heh) at all. And they have names I don't like. 'Kip' reminds me of the George Carlin bit on the last Botchamania where he ranted about how shitty boys' names were these days and they showed photos of the different wrestlers on the screen as he named them. (The best part of that was when he said "You know what a real man's name is? EDDIE." and guess who they throw up with a giant photo on the screen covering everything else unlike the smaller photos of the other wrestlers? )1 point

Madonna’s culture vulture shit was so transparent and gross. She was on Letterman and she mentioned that she only dated basketball players like eight times.
