RIPPA Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 It is too early to start the off-season thread so The Marlins and Don Mattingly have agreed that Mattingly will not return next season as Marlins manager @Dolfan in NYC 1
Cobra Commander Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 meanwhile the Royals won by scoring 11 runs in the 6th inning to erase a 11-2 deficit if not for the Orioles/Astros series, there'd be a bit of anxiety among Mariners fans
RIPPA Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Such a weird offensive day 3 teams won by scoring 13 runs 1 team scored 12 runs and lost Another 2 teams scored 10 and won

RIPPA Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 Madison Bumgarner will not pitch again this year for the D-Backs. He isn't hurt. He just sucks and Arizona wants to use "younger starters" As a reminder - his contract still has two more years and Arizona owes him $37 million
Tabe Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 15-29 with a 4.98 ERA. That's what Bumgarner has brought to Arizona in his first three years there. I figured he wouldn't be good - three straight years of increasing ERAs before he left SF - but he's been worse than I expected.

John from Cincinnati Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 The wait is over, the Yankees have clinched the east. 1
Kevin Wilson Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 What the shit is this fuck. Never seen three straight balks. Ok I know people on here are balk-defenders but these are some pretty normal looking pitches.

It definitely never happened since 1900 Stats folks can only find 6 instances ever where a pitcher has balked 3 times in the same inning It was the first time Bleier had ever been called for a balk in his career

The Cards also clinched the NL Central thus leaving the NL East as the only race not over (and in that case both the Mets and Braves have clinched playoff berths)
RIPPA Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 The aforementioned Mets and Braves play a 3 game series starting Friday Problem is... the series is in Atlanta MLB is considering contingency plans due to Hurricane Ian Of course, MLB being MLB has already ruled out starting the series on Thursday (both teams have an off day) and has ruled moving the games to a neutral location So the two most likely scenarios are a Split DH on Sunday or extending the regular season one day and have the teams play on Oct 6 (the regular season ends Wednesday, Oct 5)

Kuetsar Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 That first base ump should have been fired after the game. If you call a balk, it better be obvious, on replay at least.

Craig H Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 My friend scored that game. He said it didn't look like balks to him.
Cobra Commander Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 The UmpScorecard for that game was pretty amazing too.
Tabe Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I watched the replays of all three balks. All three were called correctly.
John from Cincinnati Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 (edited) Judge has hit 61. Edit: Dammit Edited September 29, 2022 by John from Cincinnati
John from Cincinnati Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 Jays bullpen coach caught it. ASK FOR SEASON TICKETS, COWARD~!
Cobra Commander Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 Having the AL single-season home run record these days is sorta like throwing the most touchdown passes in a season of any NFC player. It's still a record for a group of teams, but let's not act like the two leagues are really distinct entities anymore since there aren't separate league presidents, there aren't separate league offices, both leagues play with the same rules, and next year every team will play each other. The people trying to retcon 1998-2001 kinda do a disservice to what Judge is doing this year. 1
