One of the shows Karl Stern does on his site is a long form history of wrestling. Off the top of my head, he’s one of the few historians that covers “the pioneer era” that does a podcast.

Link? More info?

EDIT: Found it. Looks like exactly what I wanted. Thanks.

Any other recommendations in similar veins also very welcome.

from the newest BTS episode (around Survivor Series 2001), I'm left wondering an unimportant question of "How did Steve Austin know Altoids were a product from the UK?", with the options of (a) he found it out himself or it was a writer line, (b) he found it out through Regal, or (c) he found out through Jeanie, who is British (they had been divorced for a few years by then)

the 3rd option makes one remember that the inspiration for the Stone Cold nickname involved a tea time. So there's probably a few British things that Austin got out of a 7 year marriage.

Aside from his fandom of Saxon, which preceded Jeanie.

Lots of great stuff here, including talk about pacing and Dustin's moveset and stories. All sorts of good stuff, but one thing stood out the most because it was new to me. If you google it, it's only ever been mentioned by Dustin in one other interview ever though it's obviously wrestler-talk and it's one of the most amazing wrestling-related axioms I've ever heard, and should be the subtitle for Way of the Blade 2 if that ever happens.

"Red on the head is green in the pocket."

Thanksgiving comes early!

I'm a couple of episodes behind but I really love the WOTB podcasts.  Great guests, entertaining topics, and a fun, conversational style.

And vis a vis the continuing "Tarzan Goto is a great lost worker" discussion somebody needs to upload the Goto/Tenryu match from the WAR 5th anniversary show that was on a Schenider Comp because it a) whips ass and b) my DVD of it is toast.

Fantastic episode. Dustin's love of wrestling is so deep and it's just great hearing him discuss it.

I really loved Dustin talking about how Tony K will ask him about random matches of his and he's like "I've wrestled 20000 matches, how the hell am I supposed to remember that?"

I hope people start listening to the pod expecting scoops, and just get me and Lee Casebolt talking about how awesome Larry Chene is.

Like how the Funk vs Flair ep had a good amount of El Dandy talk. Gold.

Meltzer named dropped Way of the Blade in the new WON

Quote

Dustin Rhodes noted that he is hurting from all the years of wrestling and talked about needing shoulder and knee replacements. On the Way of The Blade podcast (Post Wrestling transcription) he talked about being the best actual pro wrestling worker in the family and his future.

The rest of the blurb is just the Post Wrestling transcript
